Plug the AC adapter into a 120V AC wall outlet.
5. Insert one plug 01 the TELEPHONE LINE CORD Into the house TELEPHONE JACK and the other
end into the telephone jack on the back of the BASE UNIT. (ll you have an older 4-prong telephone
jack, you will need an FIJ-1TC TELEPHONE JACK ADAPTER. This adapter is available at the
same place you purchased your telephone.)
6. Raise or reposition the antenna on the BASE UNIT tor the best reception.
7. We recommend not placing this unlt next to appliances. Doing somay cause intertelence,

A. If your home is equipped with a Touch tone dialing system, set the TONE/PULSE select switch
to the TONE position.
a. lt you have a rotary dialing system. set the TONE/PULSE select switch to PULSE position.
C. It you are unsure which system you have, set the TONE] PULSE select switch to the TONE
posIIion. Press the TALK button on the HEADSET to get a dial tone, and press any key on the
keypad except the zero. It the dial tone continues. you do not have Touchlone dialing service.
Press the TALK button on the HEADSET to hang up. Set the TONE/PULSE
i select switch to the PULSE position and then try again.
9. Thread the RUBBER ANTENNA onto Ihe HEADSET and turn It clockwise unlll it is secure.
10. Remove the battery cover of HEADS ET and conned the rechargeable Ni-MH battery. Insert the battery
pack into the battery compartment ol the HEADSET and then replace the back cover.
11. Belole inittal use, charge the HEADSET for I2 hours.
12. Alter the initial charging period, press the TALK button to confirm that you have a die! tone. it you
do not get a dial tone, review steps a through 10.

Preparing tor Use
1, Place the HEADSET on the BASE UNIT tor 12 hours.
2. After 12 hours, remove the HEADSET trom the BASE UN|T.

Pause Function
In some cases, such as FABX or long distance seNlce, a pause may be needed in me dialing sequence.
Pressing the RE/PA button on the HEADSET or the PAUSE button on the BASE UNIT inserts a 4 -second
delay between dialed numbers. Pause(s) can be inserted into the programmed dialing sequence in memory
dialing.

PULSE switch to the PULSE position. Dial the desiled number and when tone signals are required press the

will be dialed in tone mode. Dialing will reset to pulse mode when HEADSET is returned err-hook.

Memory Dlaling
You can store and recall up to 9 phone numbers (up to la digits each) in the HEADSET and to dlfferent phone
numbers in the BASE UNIT,
NOTE: Both the H EADSET and BASE UN|T have memory locations separate irom each other, You can use
the HEADSET to recall phone numbers you have stored using the HEADSET, and you can use the
BASE UN|T to recall phone numbers you have stored using the BASE UNIT.

1 Press the memorytm button on e ther the HEADSET or BASE UNIT.
2 Dlal the telephone number you want to store (maximum or 16 digits) on either the HEADSET or BASE
UNIT keypad.
3. Press the EWIU button again.
4. Press 3 memory location where you want to store the phone number (1 to 9) tor HEADSET and
(0 to 9) for BASE UNIT. You WlII hear one confirmation beep.
5. Wrtte the name at the person or company beside the correspondlng memory location on the memory
index card located on the BASE UNIT.
6. Repeat steps 1 to 5 to store additional telephone numbers.
EXAMPLE: To store lhe number 61l-4334 under the Index number 1 on the keypad:
1. Press the VIEW button.
2. Dial 611-4334
3. Press (”mutton again.
Press I on the keypad.
You have stored 611-4334 under key 1 on the keypad.

Your cordless telephone uses a digital security coding system to prevent unauthorized use oi your telephone
line by another nearby cordless telephone. The system has its own idenn’lying signal created by microcom-
puters in both BASE UNIT and HEADSET.
Security Code
This telephone has an internal security code with 65,536 possible combinations, Each time you pick up the
HEADSET, the code is randomly set to a new combinafion.
Resetting security Code and Channel information
Communication between HEADSET and BASE UNIT may not be possible in any or the ioiiowing situations:
I . Alter a power failure.
2. Alter relocating the BASE UNIT by disconnecting the Ac
ADAPTOR.
a. Alter replacing the HEADSET battery pack.
4. The HEADSET goes out at range Irom the BASE UNIT.
5 To reset place the HEADSET on the BASE UNIT to: 5 seconds.
Mum-channel Access
Your cordless telephone lets you select a channel from the 40 frequencies available to transmit signals
between the BASE UNIT and HEADSET. When you notice interference from anothercordless telephone.
change to another channel by pressing the SCAN button on the HEADSET,
Out a! Range Detection
The unit is equipped with an Out of Hangedetecn‘on system. ityou go too laraway from tne BASE UNlT during
acall the HEADSET may lose it‘s link with the BASE UNIT. When this happens,the HEADSET Will beep twice
every two seconds.
lI you hear this warning signal, you should come closer to the BASE UNIT.
It the warning signal continues tor more than 15 seconds, the BASE UNIT will return to RING ON mode
and the HEADSET will sound a series oI shon Deeps until the TALK buttofl is pressed. This will return the
HEADSET to RING ON mode. It the unit returns to RING ON mode alter the warning signal has finished
beeping Ior IS seconds. return the HEADSET to the cradle on the BASE UNIT lor iive seconds to reset.
