RF Exposure Safety Statement RF Exposure Notice: Do not operate this VHF handheld marine radio without first reading and complying with the warnings stated on this addendum and within the O/M. Failure to do so may result in illegal and unsafe operation. SAFETY INFORMATION Your wireless handheld portable transceiver contains a low power transmitter. When the Push-to-Talk (PTT) button is pushed, the transceiver sends out radio frequency (RF) signals. In August 1996, the Federal Communications Commission adopted RF exposure guidelines with safety levels for hand-held wireless devices. This device is authorized to operate at a duty factory not to exceed 50% (this corresponds to 50% transmission time and 50% reception time). CAUTION: To maintain compliance with the FCC’s RF exposure guidelines, this transmitter and its antenna must maintain a separation distance of at least 1 inch (2.5 centimeters) from your body when transmitting. Speak in a normal voice, with the antenna pointed up and away from the face at the required separation distance. CAUTION: When attaching the optional speaker microphone accessory, you must attach the two spacers that are included in this box. First, clean the top area of the belt clip with rubbing alcohol to remove any build up of dirt or oil. Second, the two spacers must be attached to the top portion of the belt clip as illustrated in the owners’ manual. This will reduce the amount of RF exposure to work in compliance with FCC guidelines. Use only the supplied antenna. Unauthorized antennas, modifications, or attachments could damage the transmitter, and may violate FCC regulations. UNIDEN AMERICA CORPORATION 4700 Amon Carter Blvd. Ft. Worth, TX 76155 NOTE: You must follow the illustration above and install the spacers as shown when using the optional speaker microphone.
