1. Executive Summary
The Polaris will be the next generation in marine radio due to the current change
in the law that states that any new marine radio must be DSC compatible. The
Polaris will compete in market share with the Intrepid from Standard and other
products that will be coming to market from other manufacturers in the near
future.

3. Keys and Controls

Turns clockwise to turn on and to
increase the volume.
Squelch Knob
Turn clockwise to increase the threshold.
Channel/SelectIPA Volume
Knob has a click stop feel and will be
used for selecting channels, moving the
arrow in the menu and making selections
by pressing in. ln PA mode it will function
as the PA volume as well as for the hailer
if connected.
Weather/Alert Key
Pressing will scan and stop on the first
active weather channel ln weather mode
a press and hold will activate weather
alert
16/9/Triple Watch Key
Used to access channel 16 and nine at
the touch of a button. It will also access
the triple watch mode.
Scan/Memory! Key
The scan key will allow the channels that
have been programmed into memory to
be scanned. A press and hold of this key
will place the currently displayed channel
into the memory for future scanning.
Menu Key
This key will allow the user to access the
software menu.
Distress Key
This key will be used to send out a
distress call in DSC
Microphone (Corded)
JIS 7, UV Plastic, HAIL key-which will be
used to activate the hailer mode. Coiled
cord (12 in., stretching to apprx. 48 in.)
High/Low Function
Used from the software menu. Options
are between 1 and 25 Watts of transmit
power
