RECEIVING A. When the power is turned on. Set the channel to desired channel by the up and down switch. ’ B. Adjust the squelch control clockwise until the background noise just disappears. This is the proper squelch selling and the control should not be rotated beyond this point or receiver sensitivity will be degraded. C. When the message Is received, adjust the volume control to the desired listening level. 8. TRANSMITTING A. When the power is turned on. the transmitter Is set for 5Watts(except for USA Channels 13 and G7). The 5W indicator will appear on the LCD panel, indicating 5Watt out put power. In order to comply with FCC Regulations contained In 47 CFR 80.125(g)(3),USA Channels 13 and 67 transmit at 1Watt regardless of the 1/5 selector setting. However,5Watt output power for emergency use Is available by pressing 1/5 while pressing the press-to—talk switch. When pressing the 1/5 switch again, the radio returns to the 1Watt position. B. To switch to the IWatt position, Press 1/5. The 1W indicator will appear on the LCD Panel, The 1W position should always be used tor in»port or short range communications C. Press 1/5 to switch to the 5Watt position, The 5W indicator will appear on the LCD Panel. D. To activate the transmitter, press the press-to-talk switch. The TX indicator will appear on the LCD Panel, indicating a signal Is being transmitted. Release the switch to receive. When transmitting, hold the radio approximately two inches from your mouth and speak clearly in a normal voice. E. You cannot transmit on weather Channels 0-9 or marine channels 02;04,15,60,62,70,81 and 83. The Channel Number on the LCD Panel will blink to indicate these channels are “receiveonly‘.
