Understanding bit rate and listening rime
MP! files can be created at different bit rates meawred us kilobits
per second The bit-rate you choose will determine the playback
quality and the amount of memory required to store it The higher
the bit rate, the higher the sound quality will be and the more
storage space required The chm on the box shows the avenge
play time of MP3 files at different qualities versus play time for
different memory configurations.
Everyone is familiar with the long playing recording mode on a
VCR You can have 6 hours in lung play or 2 hours in the high
quality mode Sometimes the lower-quality mode is a good trade-
oirin order to record more time.
It's exactly the same on an MP3 player, except it is determined by
the In: rate at which you compress or create your MP3 file.
