Installing the Lucy Tablet
During’installation, you may be prompted to install some
Windows system files Please have your Windows system ‘IQ—J

1. Turn your computer on After Windows has started, insert
the Lucy LD-ROM into your CDVROM Drive. 0
2. Plug the Lucy USB connector into an active USB port
(see [5 . The Lucy LED wrll light. lfthe LED did not light,
your computer may not be USB Ready.
3. lilhen the ADD NEW HARDWARE WIZARD appears, click
EXT.
4. Select the option SEARCH FOR THE BEST DRIVER Q9]

FOR YOUR DEVICE (RECOMMENDED), and click
NEXT.
5, Check the CD-ROM DRIVE option and click NEXT. lfthe
message TABINS I6 DLL 0T TABINSTIJLL CANNOT BE
FOUND appears, reenter the location for the CD-ROM R
drive (for example, D:\). f
6. Follow the prompts to continue installing your tablet.
When the installer prompts you for the HtDCLASSSYS file,
insert the Windows 98 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive
and enter the location for the Windows CAB files (e.g.,
D:\WIN98). Cltck NEXT, and then FINISH. ,
Important prrompted by Windows to restart your in “U.“
computer, do not restart now. Finish the next step before
restarting.
7. You will be asked to insert the Lucy CD-ROM. Follow the
prompts to complete installation ofthe Lucy driver.
You should now be able to use your UltraPen on the tablet to
move the screen cursor. lfthe cursor does not move, you
should run the Lucy SETUP program from the Lucy CD—
ROM.
A WACOM TABLET group was created in the START
menu under PROGRAMS (see B . It contains the Lucy
Control Panel, User’s Manual, and a Readme file.

Installing the Lucy Tablet
7 CW Plug the LEW USB’c’o’nneetor into an active USB
on on your computer or an active USB hub (see
}.
O lfyour computer is off. turn ii on now. The tablet
LED will light to indicate Lucy has registered as
a USB device.
Lucy is working in mouse emulation mode. You
should now be able to use your UltraPen on he
tablet to move the screen cursor.
Important: For pressure-sensitivity, you must
install the tablet software from the Lucy CD-
ROM. Disable an)l virus protection programs and
close all open applications before installing its
software.
0 Insert the CD—ROM into your computer and
double-click the INSTALL LUCY icon (see 5 .
Using your mouse, choose your language option,
click OK, and follow the prompts,
After restarting your computer, you Will be able to use
the pen to move the screen cursor in pen mode.

For the iMac, Lucy requires Mac OS 8 5, Mac OS
ROM 12.1 or greater, and iMac Update llCltck tlte “mum

Learning to use Lucy
To learn about Lucy before installing the hardware and software drivers, read the Lucy User‘s Manual
ll‘you do not already have Adobe Reader 3.0 on your system, you Will first need to install the Reader
software. You can then use your computer to read the manual, or prim a copy of it.
To install Adobe Acrobat Reader : Insert the Lucy CD ROM into your computer. Double-click on the CD
ROM icon and open the READER folder, Open the 32bit FOLDER FOR Windows 95/98 or NT, or open
the I6BlT folder for Windows 3.l Double-click SETUREXE and follow the prompts.
To view the Lucy User’s Manual : From the root directory ofthe Lucy CD ROM, double-click on the
PENGUIDEPDF icon, To copy the Lucy User’s Manual to your hard drive, drag the PENGUIDEPDF
icon to your desktop or to a new foldert

Installing the Lucy Tablet .

so can cause a power surge and damage the computer
1. Connect the power cable
Disconnect your mouse or keyboard. 1 9 2 E
2 Plug the PS/2 tablet connector into
computer‘s PS/2port.
Q Plug your mouse or keyboard (whichever
one you removed) into the adapter.
2. Connect the serial cable
Plug the 9»pin serial connector into your
computer’s serial port. ‘
Note : Ifyour computer has a 25-pin serial 9 "W”
port, you will need to use a 9-t025'pin raw-w
adapter. This can be purchased from your
computer dealer.
3. Install the Lucy software >
1 Make sure the tablet is connected, then turn on your computer. The LED on your tablet should light to
indicate the tablet is powered up.
2 After Windows has started, insert the WACOM Lucy CD ROM into your computer.
For Windows 95/98, tfyou see the New Hardware Found dialog box, select Driver from disk
provided by hardware manufacturer and press Enter. Type the CD ROM drive name, for example
I):\, and press Enter. Follow the screen prompts.
E Ifthe Plug and Play dialog did not appear for Windows 95/98 or Windows NT 4.0, click on the Start
button and then click Run Or for Windows NT 3.51, FROM THE Program Manager select File and
Run...
it In the dialog box, type D:\SETUP. Ifyour CD ROM has a different drive letter, type that letter instead
osz. Click OK and follow the screen prompts.
5 When finished, close all open applications and restart your computert After restarting Windows you
will be able to use the pen to move the screen cursor. '

4. Start using Lucy
ll'you are comfortable using a pen as a pointing device, you are ready to start working lfyou are new to
using a pen or you want to customize the tablet, refer to the Lucy User's Manual
lfyou are an advanced user, you can customize Lucy using the WACOM Lucy control panel located in
the Windows Control Panel folder.
