Please keep them available forreference.Installing the Mercedes-Benz V3 CradleDetaching the Mercedes-Benz V3 Cradle1. Insert the Mercedes-Benz V3 Cradle (1)into the latches on the pre-installed MHIcontact plate (2), located in the centerconsole.Availability varies by model, see dealer fordetails. To insert the Mercedes-Benz V3Cradle (1), slide it upwards until itclicks intoplace.1. Press and hold the release button (9).Slide the Mercedes-Benz V3 Cradle (1) indirection of arrow (8) and remove it from thepre-installed contact plate (2).NoteThis device compiies with part 15 of the FCCRules. Operation is subject to the followingtwo conditions:• This device may not cause harmfulinterference.• This device must accept anyinterference received, includinginterference that may causeundesired Operation.-2-11
Removing Motorola RAZR phone1. Press the latch (3) on the top of theMotorola RAZR phone (4). The latch (3) andthe Motorola RAZR phone (4) will swing out.2. Remove Motorola RAZR phone (4)sliding it out sideways.Inserting mobile telephoneNotesThe Motorola RAZR phone can be usedinside and outside of the Mercedes-Benz V3Cradle for use in hands-free mode. This ispossible because the Mercedes-Benz V3Cradle uses Bluetooth® technology toconnect with your headset. Make sure youhave established a Bluetooth® connectionbefore using the Mercedes-Benz V3 Cradle,see pairing procedure on page 5.When using the Motorola RAZR phone in thecradle, the Motorola RAZR phone will also becharged and connected to the vehicle'sextemal mobile antenna for improvedreception. Using the Motorola RAZR phoneoutside of the Mercedes-Benz V3 Cradleprovides convenient hands-free Operationwith the phone in your pocket or hand bag.We recommend placing the phone in thecradle when the battery is Iow or whencalling in a weak Signal area. The phone maybe inserted into the Mercedes-Benz V3Cradle during a call, but we encourage thatthis is only done when the vehicle is not inmotion.Close the flip screen of the Motorola RAZRphone before inserting it into theMercedes-Benz V3 Cradle.- 10--3-
1. Push the latch (3) at the "PUSH"-sign.The latch (3) will swing out.2. Slide the Motorola RAZR phone (4) intoplace. Make sure that connector (5)connects to Motorola RAZR phone (4).3. Ciose latch (3).Disconnecting the Bluetoothconnection automaticallyThe connection between the Motorola RAZRphone and the Mercedes-Benz V3 Cradle isautomatically disconnected when theMotorola RAZR phone travels outside of theconnection ränge (approx. 30 ft) of theMercedes-Benz V3 Cradle.Disconnecting the Bluetooth®connection manuallyThe connection between the Motorola RAZRphone and the Mercedes-Benz V3 Cradlecan be disconnected at any time by usingthe Motorola RAZR phone (see the MotorolaRAZR phone manual for disconnectioninstructions).To disconnect the paired Motorola RAZRphone from Mercedes-Benz V3 Cradle usingthe COMAND or radio:For all Mercedes-Benz vehicles with theexception of the model year 2007 S-Class:Press and hold BU button on theCOMAND or radio for approx.3 seconds.For model year 2007 S-Class vehicles:Using the COMAND Controller, select"Telephone" —» "Telephone" —>"Telephone off.NoteIf a phone call is in progress, the connectioncan only be disconnected directly on theMotorola RAZR phone (see the MotorolaRAZR phone manual for disconnectioninstructions).-9-
Connecting the Motorola RAZR phoneand Mercedes-Benz V3 Cradle manuallyFor all Mercedes-Benz vehicles with theexception of the model year 2007 S-Class:Press fQ| button on the COMANDorradio.For model year 2007 S-Class vehicles:Using the COMAND Controller, select"Telephone" —> "Telephone" —»"Telephone on".NotesBefore manual connection, the MotorolaRAZR phone must previously be paired withthe Mercedes-Benz V3 Cradle, see pairingprocedure on page 5.The Mercedes-Benz V3 Cradle will searchcontinuously and in sequence for one of thepaired Motorola RAZR phones. If aBluetooth* connection is disconnectedmanually the Mercedes-Benz V3 Cradle willstop searching.When the Motorola RAZR phone is within theränge (approx. 30 ft) of the Mercedes-BenzV3 Cradle, the connection between theMotorola RAZR phone and theMercedes-Benz V3 Cradle will remain active,and phone calls made with the MotorolaRAZR phone using the vehicle's hands-freeSystem. For this reason, the connectionbetween the Motorola RAZR phone and theMercedes-Benz V3 Cradle should bedisconnected manually if the Motorola RAZRphone is taken out of the vehicie forindependent use outside of it (see page 9).Pairing the Motorola RAZR phone withthe Mercedes-Benz V3 CradleMake sure that the Starter switch is inPosition 1, 2 or 3 (see the Vehicie Operator'sManual).1. With Mercedes-Benz V3 Cradleconnected to the vehicie press button (6) forapprox. 2-3 seconds.The LED (7) will begin to flash rapidly. TheMercedes-Benz V3 Cradle is in DiscoveryMode and can be detected by the MotorolaRAZR phone. The Mercedes-Benz V3 Cradlewill appear as "MB V3 Cradle" on theMotorola RAZR phone.2. For instructions on how to get themobile telephone ready for pairing, see themobile telephone manual or visitwww.wireless4mb.com. Once the MotorolaRAZR phone and Mercedes-Benz V3 Cradlefind each other the Motorola RAZR phonewill prompt the user to enter a Pass-Key.3. When prompted, enter the Pass-Key62872 into the Motorola RAZR phone.-8--5-
4. Once the Pass-Key has been enteredand accepted the LED (7) will be litcontinuously. This confirms that theMotorola RAZR phone is paired andconnected and the Motorola RAZR phone'sidentity Information has been stored in theMercedes-Benz V3 Cradle.5. The Motorola RAZR phone is now readyfor use with the Mercedes-Benz Hands-FreeCommunication System.Establishing a Bluetooth® connectionNotesA maximum of 4 Motorola RAZR phones canbe paired with the Mercedes-Benz V3Cradle. However, only one Motorola RAZRphone is connected to the Mercedes-BenzV3 Cradle at a time. If a fifth Motorola RAZRphone is paired with the Mercedes-Benz V3Cradle, then the Information stored from thefirst Motorola RAZR phone which was pairedwith the Mercedes-Benz V3 Cradle will bereplaced.When the Starter switch is in position 1, 2or 3 (see the Vehicle Operator's Manual),the Mercedes-Benz V3 Cradle will search forthe last connected Motorola RAZR phoneand reconnect.The Mercedes-Benz V3 Cradle will searchcontinuously and automatically after start-up for one of the paired phones.If the last connected Motorola RAZR phoneis not found the Mercedes-Benz V3 Cradlewill search for one of the previously pairedphones and connect to it.The searching routine is being repeated aslong as a paired RAZR mobile phone is readyto be connected. Searching is indicated withLED (7) flashing periodically.If the connection between theMercedes-Benz V3 Cradle and MotorolaRAZR phone is not establishedautomatically, it is possible to establish aconnection manually (see page 8).Stored SMS messages can not be accessedvia the COMAND or radio while theBluetooth® connection is established.The Motorola RAZR V3 and V3i allow viewingof incoming SMS. This feature is not possiblewith the Motorola RAZR V3c and V3m.Not every ring-tone of the Motorola RAZRphone is supported by the COMAND orradio.3-way-calling and call waiting are notsupported from the Mercedes-Benz V3Cradle. An audible beep will notify a waitingcall.The roaming indication is not supported bythe COMAND or radio.The Tele Aid System (emergency callSystem) will continue to functionindependently of the hands-free phoneSystem as designed as long as there is avalid Service contract.-6--7-
