Hit the road of learning fun with the VTech Remote Racer Smart CarTM from VTech®! This basic remote control car for preschoolers features a remote control sized steering wheel, just right for little hands. Through interactive play, your child will learn about directions (forwards, backwards, left, right) colors, shapes, logic and memory. For added learning fun, the headlights double as turning signals to help teach left and right directions. Fun theme songs about driving and traffic lights also play to engage your child through racing fun! Ils ne font pas partie du jouet. DEMO STRIP REMOVAL: When the product is taken out of the packaging, please remove the demo cable from the unit to activate normal play mode. NOTE: Please keep instruction manual as it contains important information. Unlock the packaging locks: GETTING STARTED WARNING: All packing materials, such as tape, plastic sheets, packaging locks and tags are not part of this toy, and should be discarded for your child’s safety. Rotate the packaging lock counter-clockwise for 90 degrees Pull out the packaging lock GETTING STARTED BATTERY INSTALLATION 4. Replace the battery cover. BATTERY NOTICE • • • • • • • • • • • • The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance; Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged. Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the toy before being charged (if removable). Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision (if removable). Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix batteries of different types: alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium). Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to be used. Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity. Exhausted batteries are to be removed from the toy. The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited. The toy is not to be connected to more than the recommended number of power supplies. Do not dispose of batteries in fire. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES. GETTING STARTED 1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF. 2. Locate the battery cover on the bottom of the unit. Install 4 new “AA” size (LR6/AM-3) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box for RF Vehicle. Install 3 new “AAA” size (LR03/AM-4) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box for remote controller. Check Signal Lamp to indicate “Battery installed successfully” and “input received”. 3. The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance. PRODUCT FEATURES On the Remote Racer Smart CarTM: 1: MODE SELECTOR 2: learning shape buttons Press the Learning Shape Buttons to learn the colors, shapes and road safety. 3: VOLUME SWITCH Slide the Volume Switch on the bottom of the car to adjust the volume. There are 3 volume levels to choose from. PRODUCT FEATURES Slide the Mode Selector from “off” to any mode to turn the unit on and choose one activity. 4: SPEED SWITCH The Speed Switch is on the bottom of the car. Slide it to choose fast or slow speed. Tip: If you find the car is not rolling straight, you can use the fine-tune control to adjust. On the Remote Controller: 5: MUSIC BUTTON 6: FORWARD/BACKWARD BUTTONS Press the Forward or Backward Buttons to make the car go forward or backward. The driver will move left and right when the car is going forward or backward. 7: STEERING WHEEL Turn the Steering Wheel to turn left or right. When the car is turning left or right, the driver will turn his body to match the direction of the car. PRODUCT FEATURES Press the Music Button to hear the songs. 8: SIGNAL LAMP The signal light will be on to indicate “Battery installed successfully” and “input received”. 9: AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF To preserve battery life, the VTech® Remote Racer Smart CarTM will automatically turn off after several minutes without input. The unit can be turned on again by pressing the Shape Buttons or moving the Mode Selector. ACTIVITIES Learn Mode 1. Press any learning shape button to learn about colors, shapes and road safety. Quiz Mode Fun Mode 1. Let’s jam to some music! Press any of the learning shape buttons after a song starts to add in fun horn sounds. CARE & MAINTENANCE 1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth. 2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and heat source. 3. Remove the batteries when the unit is not in use for an extended period of time. 4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water. ACTIVITIES 1. You will be asked a question about colors or shapes. 2. Press a shape or color button to hear a reward response for a correct answer, or an encouraging response for an incorrect answer. 3. After three incorrect tries, you will be asked a new question. TROUBLESHOOTING If for some reason the program/activity stops working or malfunctions, please follow these steps: 1. Turn the unit OFF. 2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries. 3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries. 4. Turn the unit back ON. The unit will now be ready to play again. 5. If the product still does not work, replace with a new set of batteries. If the problem persists, please call our Consumer Services Department on at 1-800-521-2010 in the U.S. or 1-877-352-8697 in Canada, and a service representative will be happy to help you.
