Important Safety Information
Batteries
The Steam Controller can be used with disposable AA batteries (included) or rechargeable AA batteries
(not included). Improper use of batteries may result in leakage of corrosive and toxic battery fluid as
well as overheating, including risk of fire and explosion.
• Keep batteries out of reach of children.
• Do not expose batteries to heat or fire or damage the battery enclosure.
• Only use alkaline type AA (LR6) batteries.
• Do not mix batteries with uneven remaining charge.
• Remove batteries if depleted and when storing the device for an extended period of time.
• In case of battery leakage, remove all batteries and avoid contact with skin or clothes. Flush any
exposed skin immediately under running water.
Radio Frequency Emissions
This device emits radio frequency (RF) signals. While it has been thoroughly tested for non-interference
with other devices, do not operate around critical electronic equipment (e.g. in hospitals) and remove
batteries completely before transport by airplane.
Exposure to Heat and Humidity
You should keep your Steam Controller dry and not use it where it could get wet. You should not expose
your Steam Controller to extreme temperatures (operating temperature range should remain between
10 °C and 35 °C (50 °F and 95 °F). If you move your Steam Controller from a cold location to a warm one,
moisture may condense and cause the Steam Controller to cease operating properly— in that case, you
may need to wait several hours before it can operate properly.
Choking hazard
This device contains small parts which may be a choking hazard to children under 3. Keep out of reach of
children.
Musculoskeletal disorder
As with many repetitive physical activities, extended use of the Steam Controller may cause occasional
discomfort in your hands, arms, shoulders, neck, or other parts of your body. However, if you experience
persistent or recurring discomfort, pain, throbbing, tingling, numbness, or stiffness, DO NOT IGNORE
THESE WARNING SIGNS. PROMPTLY SEE A QUALIFIED HEALTH PROFESSIONAL. Symptoms such as these
can be associated with permanent and serious musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) such as carpal tunnel
syndrome, tendonitis, tenosynovitis, vibration syndromes, and other conditions. To reduce the risk of
MSD, operate the Steam Controller in a comfortable posture, keep your hands and other body parts
relaxed, and take breaks.
Photosensitive seizures
A very small percentage of individuals may experience epileptic seizures when exposed to certain light
patterns or flashing lights. Exposure to certain patterns or backgrounds on a computer screen, or certain
types of computer gameplay, may induce an epileptic seizure in these individuals. Certain conditions
may induce previously undetected epileptic symptoms even in persons who have no history of prior
seizures or epilepsy. If you, or anyone in your family, have an epileptic condition, consult your physician
prior to playing. If you experience any of the following symptoms while playing a video or computer
game—dizziness, altered vision, eye or muscle twitches, loss of awareness, disorientation, any
involuntary movement, or convulsions— IMMEDIATELY discontinue use and consult your physician
before resuming play.
