RS77 User Guide_V1.0Proprietary & Confidential -1-1Assembling1.1 Installing/ Removing the battery1) Installing the batteryWith the top of battery (the terminal with pole) facing right toward the contacting points inthe battery compartment, press the bottom of battery slightly until it enters into place;Slide battery cover forward along the side slot until it clicks into place.2) Removing the batteryLong press end key to switch the phone off;Slide downward the battery cover;Use your nail to lightly lift the battery away.1.2 Charging the batteryYour phone is powered by a rechargeable battery. When the battery is weak, the batterysensor informs you. At this time, you need charge the battery. When the battery becomes tooweak for the phone to operate, it switches off automatically.1) Open the cover to the multifunction jack on the bottom of the device.2) Plug the small end of the travel adapter into the multifunction jack.3) Plug the large end of the travel adapter into a power outlet.4) When the battery is fully charged, unplug the travel adapter from the power outlet.5) Unplug the travel adapter from the device.6) Close the cover to the multifunction jack.Note:(a) During charging, the phone can operate as usual. But the charging time increases.(b) Use only approved chargers and cables. Unauthorized chargers or cables can causebatteries to explode or damage your device.(c) While the device is charging, the touch screen may not function due to an unstable powersupply. If this happens, disconnect the charger from the device.1.3 T-Flash card use1.3.1 Installing/Removing T-Flash cardThis mobile supports the T-Flash card feature. Make sure that the T-Flash card has alreadyinserted into mobile.Make contacting points downwards. Ensure the angled corner is positioned correctly and slidethe card into the carrier;1.4 Inserting/Removing the SIM cardWhen you subscribe to a cellular service, you will receive a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM)card with subscription details, such as your personal identification number (PIN) and optionalservices.Contacting points downwards. Ensure the angled corner is positioned correctly and slide thecard into the carrier;Note:(a) Be careful when handling, inserting or removing the SIM card, friction or bending maydamage SIM card.(b) If left unused, keep SIM card out of the reach of small children.(c) Keep SIM card away from static, dusty and water.(d) When inserting or removing SIM card, always make sure that the phone is switched off before

After power on, thephone searches for your network automatically. Some SIM card is protected by the PINnumber, if you are asker for inputting the PIN number, please enter it.2) Power Off: Press and hold the POWER key until the power-off image display.Note:(a) PIN is provided by your service provider. If the PIN is entered incorrectly three times, the SIMcard is barred.(b) If the phone asks for an unlock code when switched on, enter the unlock code.2Phone Appearance and Keys2.1 Physical Impression2.2 Keys specificationKeys SpecificationHomeWhile on any application or screen, press to return to the Home screen.Press and hold to open the recent applications window.MenuPress to open a list of actions that you can do on the current screen ordialog box.BackPress to go back to the previous screen, or to close a dialog box, menu,or the notifications panel.VolumePress upwards or downwards to increase or decrease the volume.Slide down the key fully to enter vibrate mode.PowerLong press to power on the mobile.While not on a call, press and hold to open the phone options menu thatallows you to turn off or switch your device to silent or airplane mode.Press to lock the screen.2.3 Use the touch screenYour device’s touch screen lets you easily select items or perform functions. Learn basicactions to use the touch screen.zTo avoid scratching the touch screen, do not use sharp tools.zDo not allow the touch screen to come into contact with other electrical devices.Electrostatic discharges can cause the touch screen to malfunction.zDo not allow the touch screen to come into contact with water. The touch screen maymalfunction in humid conditions or when exposed to water.A quick and easy way to interact with the Home screen and the whole interface of your deviceis by touch. Basically, the following are the types of actions, called finger gestures, which youwould do when interacting with your device:zTouch: When you want to select items such as icons and options or press on-screenbuttons, simply touch them with your finger. Apply some pressure with your finger pad

When theitem magnifies and the device vibrates, drag your finger to any part of the screen to movethe item, or drag to the Trash button to delete the item. While dragging, do not releaseyour finger until you have reached the target position.zDouble touch: Touch twice quickly with your finger to zoom in or out while viewingphotos or web pages.2.4 Lock or unlock the screen2.4.1 Lock the screenzTo lock, press POWER key.zTo save battery power, the device automatically turns off the screen and locked whenyou leave it idle after a certain period of time.2.4.2 Rotate the screenThe phone can detect direction by a built-in motion sensor. If you rotate the phone, the screeninterface will be rotated with mobile phones automatically.2.4.3 Unlock the screen1) Press the POWER key to awake the screen.2) Touch and drag the screen from top to bottom.3) You can choose the type of Screen Unlock you want to use, from Pattern, PIN orPassword. For more information, refer to “Settings-Security-Set up screen lock”.2.5 Home ScreenThe idle screen has 5 panels, slide left or right to view the panels.There are 5 shortcut functions in the bottom of idle screen: Call , Messaging ,Application ,Browser and Email .2.5.1 Add items to the idle screenYou can customize the Home screen by adding shortcuts to applications, wallpapers, manageapps or system settings。.2.5.2 Move items on the Home screen1) Touch and hold an item to activate move mode.2) Drag the item to the location you want when the item is magnified.2.5.3 Remove items from the Home screen1) Touch and hold an item to remove. The item is magnified.2) Drag the item to the trash tab.3) When the item and the trash tab turns red, release the item.

Release the Shortcut icon.2.5.5 Notification PanelThe Notification Panel shows information about connections, messages, and other items.To display the Notification Panel, touch the indicator icons area on the top of the screen anddrag your finger downward to open the notification panel. To hide the panel, touch the bottomframe and drag your finger upward. In the list, you can access notifications, such as messages,calls, events or processing status. You can also check current status of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS,Data connection and Airplane mode, and switch the status. Slide left or right to set the screen andcurrent profile mode.2.6 Access applications1) In idle screen, touch Applications .2) Slide up or down to show other applications.3) Touch , back to idle screen.2.7 Customize your deviceGet more from your device by customizing it to match your preferences.2.7.1 Change the language1) In idle screen, touch , select “Settings-Language & keyboard-Select language”.2) Select the language.2.7.2 Set the current time and date1) In idle mode, touch , select “Settings-Date & time”.2) Select the time zone, set the time and date and change other options.2.7.3 Set SIM card information1) In idle mode, touch , select “Settings-SIM management-SIM Information”.2) Touch the SIM card, edit SIM name, phone number, set SIM background color anddisplay numbers.2.7.4 Set your ringtoneUser can set the incoming call ringtone by default, or take the music in phone or SD card asringtone.1) In idle mode, touch , select “Settings-Audio profiles”.2) Touch the profile you need, such as “General”.3) Touch “Voice call ringtone”, touch the ringtone to listen, touch “OK”.If user wants to take the music in phone or SD card as ringtone, in idle mode, touch , select“Music”, touch and hold one music file, shows the option list, touch “Use as phone ringtone”.3Text Entry3.1 Key functions for Input ModeUser can enter text by selecting characters on the virtual keyboard. User also can touch , select“Settings-Language & keyboard” to set the corresponding parameters.The keys of Android input method are shown as below:3.2 Copy and paste textWhile you are entering text, you can use the copy and paste feature to use text in otherapplications.1) Touch and hold the text you want to copy until appears.2) Drag the two icons to adjust the selected text.3) Select Copy to copy the text into the clipboard.4) In another application, touch the text input field.5) Select Paste to insert the text into the field..4CallingIn any dialing interface, user can touch the tab at the bottom to switch function of Phone, Calllog, Contacts and Favorites.4.1 Making a Call1) In idle mode, touch , show the dialing interface2) Enter an area code and a phone number. Touch to eraseawrong number. Touch and hold to erase the entire number.Touch and hold 0 key until character “+” appears, and then youcan dial an international number. Touch and hold 1 key to entervoice mail.3) Touch, dialing the number.4) Touch , save the number to Contacts.5) During the call, touch “End” to end the call.Note: You can also touch Call log, Contacts and Favorites to quicklydialing.4.2 Emergency CallOnly in GSM system coverage, you can make an emergency call, even though the phone islocked, without SIM card, or cannot enroll to the system.This phone, like any wireless phone, operates using radio signals, wireless, and landlinenetworks as well as user programmed functions, which cannot guarantee connection in allconditions. Therefore, you should never rely solely on any wireless phone for essentialcommunications like medical emergencies. Check with local service providers to make anemergency call.4.3 Answering a CallWhen somebody calls you, the phone rings, and displays the incoming call area. Touch“Reject” to end.3) When the phone is ringing, press the Volume key to mute the ringtone.4) To end the call, select “End”.Note:The speaker sound volume maybe loud, so please not use the speaker beside ear.5Call LogsYou can view all calls, dialing calls, received calls and missedcalls.1) In idle mode, touch , select “Call logs”.2) Touch “All”view all logs, touch view dialing calls, touchview received calls and touch view missed calls.3) Touch a log to dial the number.4) Select a log, touch at right side, and view the details.From the detail view, you can dial the number, send messageto the number or add the number to the phonebook.5) In any log list interface, press Menu key to delete log or setspeed dial.6ContactsThis feature allows you to store phone numbers and their corresponding names in thememory of your SIM card and phone’s memories. In idle mode,touch , select “Contacts”, touch “All contacts”, select group or SIMcard, touch to search contact, touch to add new contact.6.1 SearchEnter the contact information you want to search. As you enterinformation, matching contacts will appear on the screen.6.2 Adding a Contact1) Select “New contact”, and select save contact to phone orSIM card, then the new contact window appears.2) Touch each field to enter the contact information with theon-screen keyboard.3) Select “Save” to save the contact. Select “Revert”, back to contact list.Note:If add new entry to SIM card, there only need input name and number.6.3 Delete contactTick at the numbers you want to delete.6.4 GroupsBy creating groups of contacts, you can manage multiple contacts and send messages oremail to an entire group. There are 5 default groups, you can touch to add members. Start bycreating a group.
RS77 User Guide_V1.0Proprietary & Confidential -7-1) Touch “Add group”, input group name.2) Touch “Add members”, tick off the contacts, touch “Save” and back to member list.3) Select “Save”.Note:Contacts which saved in SIM card cannot use group function.7MessagingLearn to create and send text (SMS) or multimedia (MMS) messages, and view or managemessages you have sent or received.7.1 Send message1) In idle mode, touch ,select “Messaging”.2) Touch “Compose new message”.3) In the “To” field, enter the recipient’s phone number. Touch to select from Contacts.4) Type your message in the “Type to compose” field.5) To send MMS message, press Menu key,touch “Add subject”, “Attach” to insert pictures,videos, audio and so on.6) Select the SIM card to send message.7.2 Managing MessagesWhen you send and receive messages from a contact, these messages are grouped as amessage thread. A message thread looks like an exchanged conversation.8CameraWith the phone camera feature, you can take picture at any time without carrying digitalcamera. Enter the menu, the display shows the preview image.In idle mode, touch then select “Camera”. Shown as below:Aim the phone at the subject, touch to take a shot. PressMenu key to select switch to video or go to gallery to view pictures.After taking photos, touch preview frame to view the taken photos.9Video RecordIn idle mode, touch then touch “Camera”, click , select“Camcorder” to recording video screen.Aim the phone at the subject. To start recording, touch .Tostop recording, touch . The video is saved automatically.Press Menu key to select switch to camera or go to gallery to viewvideos.After recording videos, touch preview frame to view the recorded videos.10 Sound RecorderYou can record sound through the menu. The recording files are saved in the memory card.You can use the sound as phone ringtone or message tone, you can see and play the recordingfiles in “Music - Playlists - My recording”.In idle mode, touch , then touch Sound recorder. Touch to start recording, during the

Music supports the followingmusic file formats: MP3, AMR, WMA, MIDI, WAV, AAC, and OGG.In idle mode, touch , then touch Music. Your music is organized into four categories: Artists,Albums, Songs and Playlists. Touch a category to view the list. At any level inside a Music librarycategory, touch and hold an item (a song, artist, album, or playlist) to open the options menu, andthen touch Play.During playing, press Menu key, and user can view music library, on/off party shuffle, add toplaylist, use as ringtone, delete the song and set sound effects. Press the side VOLUME UP orDOWN button to adjust the playback volume.12 FM RadioYou can listen to music/news on the FM Radio.In idle mode, touch , then touch “FM Radio”.Icon IndicationTo launch Channel ListChange the sound to headsetTo go to the last or next available FM stationsTo change the frequency by 0.1 MHZ.13 EmailLearn to send or view email messages via your personal or company email account. Add anexternal e-mail account.1) In idle mode, touch ,thentouch“Email”.2) On the Email setup screen, enter your email address and password, and then touch“Next”.3) The wizard automatically sets up your email account. If the email account you want to addis not pre-configured on your device, you will be prompted to manually enter the emailaccount settings, such as the email server, protocol and more. Obtain this informationfrom your email service provider.4) After your account settings have been verified, touch “Finish” to display your Inbox.5) While on the account Inbox, press Menu key, and then touch Refresh to update yourInbox.6) To add more email accounts, return to the Email setup screen, press Menu key and touchAdd account. Repeat steps above.7) Press Menu key, and then touch “Compose” to create an e-mail.14 CalendarCalendar helps you schedule and sound alarms for appointments, meetings, and events.In idle mode, touch , then touch “Calendar”.Press Menu key, and then touch “Agenda” to show all the agenda.

There are fourshortcuts at the bottom of the screen: Alarm, Picture show, Music player and Home.16 AlarmIn idle mode, touch , then touch “Clock”, select .1) Select from the existing settings of alarm clock, or touch “Add alarm” to set up a newalarm.2) Touch “Time”, slide up and down to adjust the hour, minute and AM/PM. Touch “Set” tosave the settings.3) Touch “Repeat” to select a day to sound the alarm. Touch “OK” to save the settings.4) Touch “Ringtone” to set up the preferred ringtone when your alarm sounds. Touch “OK” tosave the settings.5) Touch “Vibrate” to on /off the vibrate.6) Touch “Label” to input alarm info.7) Touch “Done” to save the settings of the alarm.In alarm list, press menu key, select “Settings”, set volume, snooze duration and so on.17 File ManagerFind, view and manage files stored on an installed memory card. If the file is associated withan application on your device, you can launch the file in the application.In idle mode, touch ,select “Files Manager”.In a folder, press Menu key to create folder, edit, sort files; touch “Edit”, select multiple foldersto delete, share, copy, cut or rename.18 PC ConnectionsYou can connect your device to a PC as a removable disk and access the file directory. If youinsert a memory card in the device, you can also access the file directory of the memory card byusing the device as a memory card reader.1) Insert the memory card in the device.2) Attach your device to the computer with a USB cable. Your device recognizes theconnection and displays USB connected in the Status Bar and Notifications Panel.3) Touch “USB connected”, at the USB Mass Storage prompt, touch Turn on USB storage”.4) Select “OK”, start to use.5) Open memory card folder, and copy files between your computer and the memory card.To disconnect the device to the PC, click the USB device icon on the Windows task bar andclick the option to safely remove the mass storage device. Then remove the PC data cable fromthe PC. Otherwise, you may lose data stored on the memory card or damage the memory card.19ApplicationsLearn to install apk applications.1) Copy the required apk application to the SD card;2) Insert the SD card into the phone, and power on the phone. In idle mode, touch ,select “File Manager”, find the apk application, click “Install”to install the application to thephone.20 SettingsThis section explains Settings for customizing your device. In idle mode, touch ,select“Settings”.

Select which SIM you will use by default when voice/video call and dataconnection. Set roaming and associate contacts with a specific SIM card.20.3 Wireless & networksEnable/disable Airplane mode, WLAN, Bluetooth. Set WLAN, BT, VPN, Mobile networks.20.3.1 Airplane modeFlight mode allows you to use many of your tablet’s features, such as Camera, Games, andmore, when you are in an airplane or in any other area where accessing data is prohibited.Note: When your tablet is in Flight Mode, it cannot access online information or applications.20.3.2 Wi-Fi SettingsLearn to use your device’ s wireless networking capabilities to activate and connect to anywirelesslocalareanetwork(WLAN)compatiblewiththeIEEE802.11b/g/nstandards.Youcanconnect to the internet or other network devices anywhere an access point or wireless hotspot isavailable.zWi-Fi: Turn the WLAN feature on or off.zNetwork notification: Set the device to notify you when an open network is available.zWPS Connect: connect to a WLAN using a Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) button.zSelect a network from Wi-Fi network list, input password (if necessary). Select“Connect”.20.3.3 Bluetooth SettingsBluetooth is a short-range wireless communications technology for exchanging informationover a distance of about 30 feet. You do not need to line up the devices to send information withBluetooth.
