VHF ANTENNA

• MakesureyourVHFantennaisanomnidirectionalantennadesignedforthe
marineband(156-162MHz)andiswelltunedattheAISendoftheband(VSWR
2:1orlessat162MHz).
• Mounttheantennaashighaspossible(atleast2-3metres(6-10ft)above
thewatersurface)andasfaraspracticalfromanyexistingVHF,HForradar
antennasandanymetalstructures.ItisnotrecommendedtoplacetheVHF

Your WatchMate Vision® is a Class B AIS Transponder with a
Colour Touch Display and integrated NMEA 2000 and WiFi
connectivity.
TheWatchMateprovidesinformationtoimproveyoursituationalawarenessand
assistinavoidingcollisionsatsea.Becauseitconsumesverylowpoweritmaybe
leftturnedonwheneveryourvesselisunderway.ItworksbyinterpretingUniversal
ShipborneAutomatedIdentificationSystems(AIS)messagewhicharesentoverVHF
bytranspondersinstalledonothervessels.TheAISsystemusestwodedicatedVHF
channelsdesignatedforthispurposeandwiththeinstallationoftheWatchMate
torecievethesesignalsyoucanviewthisinformation.Youcanalsodistributethis
informationtootherdevicesonboardyourvessel(e.g.chartplotters,laptops,smart
phones)usingNMEA2000,USBandWiFi.Inaddition,yourvesseldataistransmitted
tootherAIS-equippedvesselswithinrange.

MMSI CONFIGURED You must have a valid MMSI programmed before you
cantransmityourposition(seeconfigurationsection).
SILENT MODE IS OFF Silent mode is on. If this is not intentional check silent
modeisswitchedoffinAISsettings.
STARTUP COMPLETE BeforetheWatchMatecantransmititneeds1minute
toinitialise.
GPS POSITION FIX TheWatchMaterequiresaGPSfixbeforeitcantransmit
itsposition.Thismaytakeafewminutes.Ifitistakinga
longtimecheckyourGPSantennainstallation(seeGPS
antenna section) and GPS signal strength in My Vessel
mode.
POSITION REPORT SENT This may happen from time to time in very busy areas
withlotsofAIStraffic.ThisisnormalbehaviourforaClass
BAISdevice.
VSWR OK Checkyourantennainstallation.UsetheVSWRmeter

factoryreconditionedunitoranewunitatitssolediscretion.Whereareplacementisprovidedtheoriginal
productbecomesthepropertyofVesperMarineandthewarrantywillremainfromtheoriginalpurchase
