INT ON
MClfliui MD 5 is an emergency transmitter. incorporating an
automatic man clown signaling device. and is intended tor use by
security personnel. The MCT-IOI MDS is designed to be used with
the Spiderniert signaling system.
The unrt is powered by an internal 3.6 v lithium battery. which has
a tile expectancy at up to 5 years With normal use.
CAUTIQ Before opera rig the MCT tOI MDStOl the rs! time the
battery must be enabled by movtng DIP swrtch No 2 to ON
A bull-m tilt switch activates the ‘rnarvdnwn transmission It the
use! is knocked down. ortns MCT 101 MDS lllEby more than SOP. To
prevent talse alarms. a rapid to second beepqone is emitted prior
to the signal 09th sent. This allows the user enough time to
prevent the llansmlssmn at unintentional alarm signals,
Transmission can also he initiated by pressing the yellow
emergency button whrch is active at all times. irrespective oi
swttch position
The central station receives both “activation“ and “cancellation"
signals. and is continually updated. each time the status or the
MCT-tOl MDS transmitter changes. These changes include
position (transition from vertical to horizontal or vtce verso) and
swrich status (on or all; These status changes are veriired by the
LED. which illuminates each time a signal is transmitted.

Each message is made up at the lolluwtng data:
A. Transmilter ID: The 24»bit ID of the transmitter sending the
message The central computer converts this code and
displays the holders name on the screen.
B. Alarm Codes: Attached to the unit ID code are a choice at 6
consecutively numbered alarm or condition codes. designed
to update the central station Each time the Status oi the
MCT—lD1 MD 5 changes.
Transmitter D + 0 reports manual emergency button activation.
Transmitter ID + ‘l sends a MAN-DOWN message each time
the transmitter is moved to the horizontal position.
Transmitter ID + 2 sends a MAN~UP message each time the
transmitter is moved to lne vertical position.

Once triggered. the transmitter sends out an alarm signal as well
as a 24-bit ID code which ldentilies the MCT»101MDS to the
target receiver. and automatically dlsplays the holders name on
the central computer screen To prevent transmitted messages trorn
ociiiding with those trorn other MsgaCode transmitters. a “smart‘
antrcolliston transmission sequence IS used.
A 'supervislort“ message is automatically initiated every 60 minutes.

4.1 The Slide Switch
A slide switch an the side of the MOT-lot MD S is used to enable or
disable the tilt switch (MANvDOWN) iunction. When not in use. the
MCT<1Di MD 5 should be switched oil, and stored in a horizontal
posilion, Alter 60 seconds the unit goes into rest mode, and when
picked up, 2 rapid beeps remind the user to arm the unit.
4.2 The Holster
The optional carry-pouch (Holster-l) provides an ideal solution to
the problem at securing the MOT-101 MD S Made lrom black
tigntweight rip resistant nylon, the holster is designed to blend
with security guard uniforms it is padded to ensure a snug lit,
and provide extra protection against damage ll) the MCT-iDl MD
5 A leather securing strap ensures that the unit is held securely
in place, while the emergency button remains accessible to the
user
4.3 Switch Enabled - ON
It the Will is moved into the tilt position (more than 60°). the
buzzer sounds rapidly as a ore-alarm warning Alter the buzzer
beeps tor ten seconds, a Transmitter ID s 1 signal is sent, and
the LED blinks 3 limES to Confirm transmission The signal is
repealed at 30 second intervals while the tilt swttctt remains
activated, but auiomatically terminates alter 5 minutes This
transmission sequence can be stopped at any time by moving the
swttch to the bit DOSition
ii the liarismiilsr is disabled belore ihe timer has terminated, the
central station will be informed that the illt switch has been
disabled.
4.4 Switch Disabled - OFF
In this state all tilt switch transmissions are inhibited, and ii the
MCT—iot MDS is iett horizontal tor more than 60 seconds the unit
will go into "rest mode". As soon as the unit is returned to the
vertical position. two rapid beep Signals sound to remind the user
to enable the unit by moving the switch to the on position
4.5 Supervision Message
A ‘supervisiorl' message is automatically initiated every 50 minutes
This message keeps the central station computer informed oi the
man-down lransmilter’s active participation in the system. A weak
battery wiil cause a ‘Low-bATrEriv“ message to be added to all
supervision and alarm signals, To disable the supervision
message. move DIP switch No.1 to the oti position.
4.6 Test Signal
To generate a test signal, move the swtcti to the on posilton and rotate the
transmitter irern horizontal to vertical position, and as soon as the unit starts
5.1 Product Lim tations
Visonetix Ltd. wireless systems are very reliable and are tested
to high standards. However, due to low transmitting power and
limited range (required by FCC and other regulating
authorities). there are some limitalions to be considered:
A Receivers may be blocked by radio signals occurring on or near
their operating lrequertcies, regardless oi the digital code used.
a. wireless equipmeni should be tested regulany to determine
whether there are sources oi interierence and to protect against
iauits.
lo Deep. reluii’i the unit mihe inimntal postiion and repeat the operation. .
Note.- This sequence rmstbe completed within insecurids
4.7 Message Anti-Collision
To prevent message collision, and increase the probability ot the
message getting through, even it other transmitters tn the system
are triggered into action at the same time, the MCT~iOi MD 5
transmits 3 data bursts at random intervals. with 6 repetitions oi
the same message in each burst This redundancy increases the
probability oi recepnon.
Nate: Supervismn repons are an exception in this rule - they
CONS/SI 0/ a Single 6-messags burst
4.8 Power Output Reduction
in situations where there are many receivers, it may be necessary
to reduce the transmitter output power. so that only the receiver
nearest the marirdnwn transmitter receives the signal. Signal
power reduction is achieved by removing the jumper bar item it

4.10 Battery Maintenance
The battery is supervised and a ”low battery" warning message is
automatically sent to the control center when the battery needs
replacement When DIP switch N02 is moved to the on: position
the battery is disconnected.
To replace Irie 3 6 V Lithium battery remove the front cover screw
and open the transmitter and solder the battery in place. making sure
that the polarity is correct.
5.2 Standard Compliance
