VTech®.
It’s shopping and cooking made fun with the 2-in-1 Shop & Cook
Playset by VTech®. This 2-in-1 shopping cart easily transforms into
a kitchen and responds with fun phrases, sound effects and music
for role-play fun. Your little chef can also learn about food, colors,
numbers and more!

GETTING STARTED
BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Make sure the unit is OFF.
2. Locate the battery cover on the bottom of
the unit.
3. Use a screwdriver to open the battery cover.
4. Install 2 new AA size (AM3/LR6) batteries
following the diagram inside the battery
box. (The use of new alkaline batteries is
recommended for maximum performance.)
5. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure.
BATTERY NOTICE
Use new alkaline batteries for maximum performance.
Use only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended.
Do not mix different types of batteries: alkaline, standard (carbon-
zinc) or rechargeable (Ni-Cd, Ni-MH), or new and used batteries.
Do not use damaged batteries.
Insert batteries with the correct polarity.
Do not short-circuit the battery terminals.
Remove exhausted batteries from the toy.
Remove batteries during long periods of non-use.

Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.
Remove rechargeable batteries from the toy before charging (if
removable).
Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult
supervision.

1. Attach the LEGS by inserting them
into the appropriate holes located
on the bottom of the MAIN UNIT.
Insert the legs labeled with an “A”
into the holes marked “A” and the
legs labeled with a “B” into the
holes marked “B”. Push the legs
until they are fully inserted and you
hear a click sound. Once they have
been attached, they cannot be
removed again.
2. Attach the RIGHT PANEL onto the
right side of the MAIN UNIT near
the stove. Hold the right panel as
shown in the picture with the grated
side positioned vertically. On the
main unit, locate the bar with two
movable pins. Insert one of the pins
into the hole on the panel. Then use
your finger to depress and insert
the other pin into the panel. Press
the right panel firmly to ensure it is
secure.
3. Attach the LEFT PANEL onto the
left side of the MAIN UNIT near
the faucet. Hold the left panel as
shown in the picture with the grated
side positioned vertically. On the
main unit, locate the bar with two
movable pins. Insert one of the pins
into the hole on the panel. Then use
your finger to depress and insert
the other pin into the panel. Press
the left panel firmly to ensure it is
secure.

4. Insert the BACK PANEL into the
MAIN UNIT. You will hear a click
sound when the panel is secure.
5.
Insert the FRONT PANEL by placing
it onto the front of the MAIN UNIT.
Hold the front panel as shown in the
picture with the oven side facing out.
On the front panel, locate the bar
with two movable pins. Insert one
of the pins into the hole on the main
unit. Then use your finger to depress
and insert the other pin into main
unit. Press the front panel firmly to
ensure it is secure.

1. ON/OFF/MODE SELECTOR
Slide the MODE SELECTOR to turn the unit ON and to choose one
of three activities. Slide the MODE SELECTOR to the OFF
position to turn the unit off.

2. TWO WAYS TO PLAY
There are TWO WAYS TO PLAY with the playset:
a. Shopping Cart
In Shopping Cart mode your child can insert the shopping list or
utensils to hear fun responses. They can also roll the cart or drop the
play pieces inside to see what happens.
b. Kitchen
The Kitchen mode features lots of interactive and electronic parts
for kids to explore including an OVEN KNOB, LIGHT-UP STOVE,
RECIPE CARD HOLDER, UTENSIL HOLDER, SOAP PUMP,
SPONGE and FAUCET. A sink, oven, place setting and food prep
area add to the role-play fun!
The transformation is easy! Simply flip up all three panels to play with
the shopping cart. Fold down all three panels to play with the kitchen.
Note: The shopping cart mode will also work if only the left and right
panels are flipped up. For optimal performance, it is recommended
to flip up all three sides of the shopping cart.

3. 20 KITCHEN & FOOD PLAY PIECES
The playset comes with 20 KITCHEN & FOOD PLAY PIECES. For
added interactivity, the pot and pan interact with the LIGHT-UP
STOVE. The utensils and recipe card also trigger responses when
placed in their HOLDERS on the back panel.
4. VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH
Slide the VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH located on the bottom of
the main unit to adjust the volume. There are three volume levels to
choose from.
5. AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF
To preserve battery life, the unit has an AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF
system. The unit will turn off after approximately 60 to 90 seconds
with no input.
ACTIVITIES:
There are three activities each in both the Shopping Cart and Kitchen
modes: Pretend & Play, Learning Fun and Music Time.
Shopping Cart
1. Pretend & Play
Drop the play pieces into the cart or move the cart around to hear
some fun shopping phrases. Insert or remove the shopping list and
utensils for more fun responses.
2. Learning Fun
Drop the play pieces into the cart, move the cart around or insert and
remove the shopping list and utensils to learn about food and colors.
3. Music Time
Move the cart around, drop the play pieces into the cart or insert and
remove the shopping list and utensils to enjoy four sung songs about
shopping.

Kitchen
1. Pretend & Play
Play with the parts of the kitchen to hear some fun sounds and to
learn basic kitchen rules and safety.
2. Learning Fun
Become a cooking expert! Listen and follow the steps as you hear
them out loud.
3. Music Time
Turn the oven knob to any number to select a melody. Play with the
parts of the kitchen to add in some fun sounds. To just play with the
sound effects, turn the oven knob to the “0” position to turn off the
melody.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat
source.
3. Remove the batteries when the unit is not in use for an extended
period of time.
4. Do not drop the unit on a hard surface and do not expose the unit
to moisture or water.
5. Do not put heavy objects inside the cart or sit in the shopping cart.

TROUBLESHOOTING
If for some reason the program/activity stops working, please follow
these steps:
1. Turn the unit OFF.
2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
4. Turn the unit ON. The unit should now be ready to play again.
5. If the product still does not work, replace with an entire set of new
batteries.
