Light-up nose Back sensor Introduction The VTech® Catch Me KittyTM is an adorable kitten that moves across the floor, encouraging your child to chase it. As your child approaches the kitten, a sensor knows your child is near and the cat reacts with sounds and motion. This fun feline has three shape buttons that help your child develop motor skills, and with its motion, sound, and teaching capabilities, the Catch-Me-KittyTM is the purr-fect toy for your baby. Front sensor Mode selector Speed and sensitivity control switches on bottom Shape buttons 2 INCLUDED IN THIS PACKAGE WARNING: All packing materials, such as tape, plastic sheets, packaging locks and tags are not part of this toy, and should be discarded for your child’s safety. NOTE: Please keep this instruction manual as it contains important information. Demo strip removal: When the product is taken out of the packaging, please remove the demo strip from the unit to activate normal play mode. GETTING STARTED BATTERY INSTALLATION 1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF. 2. Locate the battery cover on the bottom of the unit. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw. 3. Install 4 new ‘AA’ (LR6/AM-3) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. 4. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure. Getting Started - One VTech® Catch Me KittyTM - One user’s manual BATTERY NOTICE • The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance. • Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged. • Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the toy before being charged (if removable). • Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision (if removable). • Do not mix old and new batteries. 3 PRODUCT FEATURES 1. MODE SELECTOR To turn the unit ON, slide the MODE SELECTOR to the Explore Mode ( ) or the Play Mode ( ) position. To turn the unit OFF, slide the MODE SELECTOR to the OFF position. 2. SHAPE BUTTONS Press the three SHAPE BUTTONS to learn shapes, numbers and rhymes. Product Features • Do not mix batteries of different types: alkaline, standard (carbonzinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium). • Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to be used. • Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity. • Exhausted batteries are to be removed from the toy. • The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited. • The toy is not to be connected to more than the recommended number of power supplies. • Do not dispose of batteries in fire. 3. SPEED CONTROL SWITCH Slide the SPEED CONTROL SWITCH to select high ( ) or low ( ) speed. 4. SENSITIVITY CONTROL SWITCH Slide the SENSITIVITY CONTROL SWITCH to select high ( ) or low ( ) sensitivity of the front sensor. 4 5. AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF To preserve the battery life, the VTech® Catch Me KittyTM will automatically power-down after approximately 30 seconds without input. The unit can be turned on again by pressing any button. ACTIVITIES 2. In Play Mode, the kitty will run away and encourage you to chase it. Chase the kitty. The kitty can sense when it runs into obstacles and will turn around and run in the other direction. Press the shape buttons to hear rhymes and sound effects in this mode. Activities 1. Slide the mode selector to the Explore Mode ( ) or Play Mode ( ) position to turn on the unit. You will hear an entertaining sing-along song, a short tune, sound effects and talking phrases that relate to the mode. The light will flash with the sound. 3. In Explore Mode, press the shape buttons to learn shapes, numbers and rhymes. You can also chase the kitty in this mode, as above. MELODY LIST 1. Row, Row, Row Your Boat 2. Chase me, race me, you'll have fun. Ready, steady, come on let's run!” 1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth. 2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat source. 3. Remove the batteries when the unit is not in use for an extended period of time. 4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water. 5. For best performance, it is recommended that you use new batteries, otherwise the kitty may move slowly. Do not mix old and new batteries, different types of batteries, etc. 6. It is not recommended to play with the kitty in bright sunlight, as bright light will affect the front sensor. It is not recommended to play with this toy outside. 7. It is recommended to play with this toy in open spaces, free of obstacles that the kitty might bump into. 8. For best performance, it is not recommended to play with this toy on thick carpet or rugs. Solid surfaces are best. 9. If you receive abnormal or no response, please turn the kitty off and on again. 10.The kitty’s front sensor is ultrasonic, and it emits high-frequency sound waves. Should you notice your pet having an adverse reaction to the sensor, discontinue use of the product around the pet. A service representative will be happy to help you. Troubleshooting If for some reason the program/activity stops working or malfunctions, please follow these steps: 1. Please turn the unit OFF. 2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries. 3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries. 4. Turn the unit ON. The unit should now be ready to play again. 5. If the product still does not work, replace with an entire new set of batteries. 7 This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules.
