The VTech® Rhyme & Discover Book™ is an interactive storybook for toddlers. This fun book introduces seven classic nursery rhymes with colorful graphics and music. Each set of pages has an interactive play feature as well as light-up animal buttons on the page tabs. Many sung nursery rhymes and melodies encourage sing-along fun. Simple questions help keep toddlers engaged and interested in exploring the book. LIGHT-UP ANIMAL BUTTONS INCLUDED IN THIS PACKAGE GETTING STARTED BATTERY INSTALLATION 1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF. 2. Locate the battery cover on the bottom of the unit. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw. 3. Install 2 new ‘AAA’ (AM-4 / LR03) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. (The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance.) 4. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure. NOTE: Please keep user’s manual as it contains important information. BATTERY NOTICE • The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance. • Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged. • Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the toy before being charged. • Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision. • Do not mix old and new batteries. PRODUCT FEATURES 1. ON/OFF/VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH To turn the unit ON, slide the ON/OFF/ VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH to the LOW VOLUME [ ] or HIGH VOLUME [ ] position. To turn the unit OFF, slide the ON/OFF/VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH to the OFF [ ] position. Product Features • Do not mix batteries of different types: alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium). • Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to be used. • Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity. • Exhausted batteries are to be removed from the toy. • The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited. • The toy is not to be connected to more than the recommended number of power supplies. • Do not dispose of batteries in fire. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES. 2. AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF To preserve battery life, the VTech® Rhyme & Discover Book™ will automatically power-down after approximately 30 seconds without input. The unit can be turned on again by pressing any button. ACTIVITIES 1. Slide the on/off/volume control switch to turn on the unit. You will hear an introductory phrase and song. The lights will flash with the sound. 2. Turn the book pages to hear fun phrases, sounds and songs. The lights will flash with the sound. 4. Press the music note button to hear songs or random melodies. The lights will flash with the sound. Activities 3. Slide or twist the moving parts to hear phrases relating to the nursery rhyme or a song. The lights will flash with the sound. 5. Press the light-up animal buttons to hear the related animal sound and a song, a phrase encouraging you to turn the page or the animal singing along to a melody. The lights will flash with the sound. 6. If there is no input to the unit after approximately 10 seconds you will hear a short phrase. If there is no input for another 10 seconds, you will be asked to find one of the animals. If there continues to be no input, the unit will automatically power-down. 1. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat source. 3. Remove the batteries when the unit is not in use for an extended period of time. 4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water. If for some reason the program/activity stops working or malfunctions, please follow these steps: 1. Please turn the unit OFF. 2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries. 3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries. 4. Turn the unit ON. The unit should now be ready to play again. 5. If the product still does not work, replace with a new set of batteries.
