Introduction
INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the VTech® Swim & Teach DucksTM learning
toy!
Bathtime is so much fun with the Swim & Teach DucksTM! Turn the
chunky red key to wind-up the duck, then watch them swim and sing!
Press the letter button to hear fun phrases, songs and melodies and
watch the light flash along to the music.

GETTING STARTED
BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF and
the battery cover, battery box and unit
are all dry.
2. Locate the battery cover on the bottom
of the unit. Use a screwdriver to loosen
the four screws on the battery cover.
3. Install 2 new AAA (LR03/AM-4)
batteries following the diagram inside
the battery box. (The use of new
alkaline batteries is recommended for
maximum performance.)
4. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screws to secure.
5. When closing the battery cover ensure that the screws are securely
tightened. This will avoid any water leakage.

zinc) or rechargeable (Ni-Cd, Ni-MH), or new and used batteries.

• Insertbatterieswiththecorrectpolarity.
• Donotshort-circuitthebatteryterminals.
• Removeexhaustedbatteriesfromthetoy.
• Removebatteriesduringlongperiodsofnon-use.
• Donotdisposeofbatteriesinfire.
• Donotchargenon-rechargeablebatteries.
• Remove rechargeable batteries from the toy before charging (if
removable).
Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult
supervision.
With the VTech® Swim & Teach DucksTM, safety comes first. To
ensure your child’s safety, please ensure the battery cover is securely
locked into position to avoid injury.
WARNING:
• Batteriesmustbechangedbyanadult.
• Onlyusethisproductinwaterbetween10and45degreescelsius,
50 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Thisproductcannotbeusedinsaltwater.
• Donotleavethisproductsubmergedinwaterforalongperiodof
time.
• Thisproductshouldonlybeoperatedinwaterwhenfullyassembled
in accordance with the instructions.
• Topreventdrowning,neverleaveachildunattendedinthebath.
• Useathermometertocheckthetemperatureofthewaterbefore
sitting a child in the bath. Toddlers have very sensitive skin and can
burn easily if the water is too hot.
• Whenfinishedplaying,removetheunitfromthewaterandpourout
any remaining water. Rinse the unit with clean water and wipe with
a dry cloth. Suspend the unit in an upright position to dry.

Press the ON/OFF BUTTON button
to turn the unit ON, press the ON/
OFF BUTTON a second time to
turn the unit OFF.
2. AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF
To preserve battery life, the VTech® Swim & Teach DucksTM will
automatically power-down after approximately 50 seconds without
input. The unit can be turned on again by pressing any button.
Please Note: When the speaker fills up with water the volume of
the product will decrease. To correct the problem
remove the unit from the water and allow the water
to drain away from the speaker.
ACTIVITIES
1. Press the on/off button to turn the unit
on. You will hear a sing-along song,
sound effect and fun phrase. The light
will flash with the sounds.
2. Press the letter button to learn letters
and hear songs and fun sounds. The
light will flash with the sounds.

3. Press the light-up button to hear a
playful phrase, a song and melodies.
The light will flash with the sounds.
4. Turn the big red key to see the ducks
swim in the water.

Care & Maintenance/Troubleshooting
CARE & MAINTENANCE
1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat
source.
3. Make sure you empty the water out of all the elements of the unit and
rinse theoroughly before drying so sediment or cleaning products
are left on the unit.
4. Make sure to dry all the elements of the unit before storing.
5. Remove the batteries when the unit will not be in use for an extended
period of time.
6. Donotdroptheunitonhardsurfaces.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If for some reason the program/activity stops working or malfunctions,
pleasefollowthesesteps:
1. Please turn the unit OFF.
2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
4. Turn the unit ON. The unit should now be ready to play again.
5. If the product still does not work, replace with an entire set of new
batteries.
