ANIMAL CHARACTERS LIGHT-UP MOUTH TURNING KEY ON/OFF/VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH LEVER PLUNGER Introduction The VTech® Touch & Turn Tunes™ is an interactive floor toy for toddlers 9 months and up. By pushing, pulling, pressing and turning the manipulative features, toddlers can direct the play by changing the responses from the four animal characters while strengthening fine motor skills. Press down on the four animals for fun phrases, sounds and music. JOYSTICK 2 INCLUDED IN THIS PACKAGE - One VTech® Touch & Turn Tunes™ learning toy - One instruction manual GETTING STARTED BATTERY INSTALLATION 1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF. 2. Locate the battery cover on the bottom of the unit. Use a coin or a screwdriver to loosen the screw. 3. Install 2 new “AA” (UM-3/LR6) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. (The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance.) Instructions & Activities WARNING: All packing materials, such as tape, plastic sheets, wire ties and tags are not part of this toy, and should be discarded for your child’s safety. 4. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure the battery cover. 3 • Install batteries correctly observing the polarity ( +, - ) signs to avoid leakage. • Do not mix old and new batteries. • Do not use batteries of different types. • Remove exhausted or new batteries from the equipment when the unit will not be used for an extended period of time. • Do not dispose of batteries in fire. • Do not attempt to recharge ordinary batteries. • The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited. • Only batteries of the same and equivalent type as recommended are to be used. When the unit is first turned on, it will automatically default to the music mode. Instructions & Activities 2. Select the mode of play by pushing, pulling, pressing or turning one of the four manipulative features. Choose from the following modes. Turning Key - Animal Names & Sounds Lever - Colors Plunger - Associations Joystick - Music Once the mode has been selected,you will hear an introductory phrase describing the learning activity. Then press down on the animal characters to hear a response related to the selected mode. The light-up mouth will flash with all the sound. 3. In the music mode, press down on the animal characters to hear melodies. Press on the animal characters while a melody is playing to hear the animal sounds added randomly to the melody. + ANIMAL SOUNDS 6 4. In the music mode, push, pull, press or turn the four manipulative features while a melody is playing to hear the following responses. Turning Key Lever Push up to increase the tempo or press down to decrease the tempo of the melodies. Plunger Press the plunger to hear the melody held for a short time. If you continue to hold the plunger down, the melody will be held until the plunger is released. Joystick Move the joystick to add animal sounds for a cool rapping effect. Instructions & Activities Turn the key clockwise to increase the pitch or turn counter-clockwise to decrease the pitch of the melodies. Remark: While a melody is playing, the mode cannot be changed. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat source. 3. Remove the batteries when the unit is not in use for an extended period of time. 4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water. TROUBLESHOOTING If for some reason the program/activity stops working, please follow these steps: 1. Please turn the unit OFF. 2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries. 3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries. 4. Turn the unit ON. The unit should now be ready to play again. 5. If the product still does not work, replace with an entire set of new batteries. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation.
