While the fan isoperating, caution is required to prevent thestarting and spreading of accidental cookingfires while the exhaust fan is in use. For thisreason:- Never leave surface units unattended at highheat settings. Boilover causes smoking andgreasy spillovers that may ignite and spread iffan operation, use adequate sized cookware anduse high heat only when necessary.- In the event of a grease fire, smother flamingpan on surface unit by covering pan completelywith well-fitting-lid, cookie sheet orflat tray.- Clean the venthood often. Do notallow grease tobuild up on thehood or the filter.- Use care when cleaning the vent hood filter.Corrosive cleaning agents, such as lye-basedoven cleaners, may damage the filter.- When flaming foods under the hood, turn thefan off. Variable power levels add flexibility to yourmicrowave cooking. The power levels on yourmicrowave oven can be compared to the surfaceunits on a range. High (power level 10) or fullpower is the fastway to cook and gives you 100%power.each power level gives you microwave energy acertain percent of the time. Power Level 7 ismicrowave energy 70% of the time. Power Level 3is microwave energy 30% of the time.A high setting (10) will cook faster but may needadditional attention such as frequent stirring, rotating or turning over. Most of your cooking willbe done on HIGH (Power Level 10). A lowersetting will cook more evently and with lessattention given to stirring or rotating the food. Some foods may have better flavor, texture orappearance if one of the lower setting is used. Youmay wish to use a lower power level when cookingfoods that have a tendency to boil over, such asscalled potatoes.Reset periods (when the microwave energy cyclesoff) give time for the food to “equalize” or transferheat to the inside of the food. An example of this isshown with Power Level 3 - the defrost cycle. Ifmicrowave energy didi not cycle off, the outside ofthe food would cook before the inside wasdefrosted. Here are some examples of uses for various powerlevels:VARIABLE POWER LEVELS (1-10) 5Cooking appliance installed under the oven may, under some heavy usage conditions. Cause temperatureshigh enough to overheat some internal parts of the microwave oven.To prevent overheating from taking place, the exhaust fan is designed to automatically turn on at a lowspeed if excessive temperatures occur. Should this happen, the fan cannot be manually turned off, but itwill automatically turn off when the internal parts have cooled. The fan may stay on up to approximately30 minutes after the range and microwave oven controls have been turned off.AUTOMATIC FAN FEATURE
