Do not leave paper products,cooking, utensils, or food in the cavitywhen not in use.17. Do not use this microwave oven to heatcorrosive chemicals (for example,sulfides and chlorides). Vapours fromsuch corrosive chemicals may interactwith the contact and springs of the safetyinterlock switches thereby renderingthem inoperable.18. Keep the waveguide cover clean at alltimes. Wipe the oven interior with a softdamp cloth after each use. If you leavegrease or fat anywhere in the cavity itmay overheat, smoke or even catch firewhen next using the oven.19. Never heat oil or fat for deep frying as youcannot control the temperature and doingso may lead to overheating and fire.WARNING:This equipment generates and uses ISMfrequency energy and if not installed and usedproperly, that is in strict accordance with themanufacturer’s instructions, may causeinterference to radio and television reception. Ithas been type-tested and found to comply withlimits for an ISM Equipment pursuant to part18 of FCC Rules, which are designed toprovide reasonable protection against suchinterference in a residential installation.However, there is no guarantee that interferencewill not occur in a particular installation. 4This appliance must be grounded. In theevent of an electrical short circuit, thegrounding plug reduces the risk of electricshock by providing an escape wire forelectric current. This appliance is equippedwith a cord having a grounding wire with agrounding plug. The plug must be pluggedinto an outlet that is properly installed andgrounded.WARNINGImproper use of the grounding can result ina risk of electric shock. Consult a qualifiedelectrician or serviceman if the groundinginstructions are not completely understood,or if doubt exists as to whether the applianceis properly grounded, and either :(1) If it is necessary to use an extensioncord, use only a 3-wire extension cord thathas a 3-blade grounding plug, and a 3-slotreceptacle that will accept the plug on theappliance. 5AVOID inserting nails, wire, etc. throughany holes in the unit while operating theoven. Never insert a wire, nails or any othermetal object through the holes on the cavityor any other holes or gaps because suchobjects may cause electric shock andmicrowave leakage.UTENSILSMETAL CONTAINERS or dishes withmetallic rims should not be used.Arcing may occur.METAL TWIST-TIE must not be used inthe microwave oven.DO NOT use SEALED JARS orNARROW NECK buttles for cooking orreheating.They may shatter.DO NOT use CONVENTIONALTHERMOMETERS in the microwaveoven.They may cause arcing.Remove PLASTIC STORE WRAPS beforecooking or defrosting in the oven.For FURTHER INFORMATION on propercooking utensils, refer to the Introduction inthe Microwave cooking guide.FOODNever use your microwave oven for HOMECANNING. The oven is not designed topermit proper canning. Improperly cannedfood may spoil and be dangerous toconsume.COOKING TIMES given in the cookingguide are APPROXIMATE. Factors thatmay affect cooking are: startingtemperature, altitude, volume, size andshape of foods and utensils used. As youbecome familiar with the oven, you will beable to adjust for these factors.It is better to UNDERCOOK RATHERTHAN OVENCOOK foods. If food isundercooked, it can always be returned tothe oven for further cooking. If food isovercooked, nothing can be done. Alwaysstart with minimum cooking times.SMALL QUANTITIES of food or foodswith LOW MOISTURE content can burn,dry out or catch on fire if cooked too long.DO NOT boil eggs in their shell. Pressuremay build up and the eggs will explode.Potatoes, apples, egg yolks, whole acomsquash and sausage are examples of foodwith NONPOROUS SKINS. These must bepierced before cooking to prevent bursting.POPCORN must be popped in a microwavecorn popper. Microwave popped cornproduces a lower yield than conventionalpopping. Do not pop popcorn unless poppedin a microwave approved popcorn utensilsor unless it’s commercially packaged andrecommended especially for microwaveovens. Do not use oil unless specifed by themanufacturer.DO NOT attempt to deep fat fry in youroven.HEATED LIQUIDS can ERUPT if notmixed with air. 6Examine the oven after unpacking.Check for damage such as a misaligneddoor, broken door or dent in the cavity.If any damage is visible, DO NOT INSTALL,and notify your dealer immediately.Level, flat location.Install the microwave oven on a level, flat surface.Ventilation.Do not block air vents. If they are blockedduring operation, the oven may overheatand eventually cause a failure.For proper ventilation, allow 3 inches ofspace between oven top, sides, rear andadjacent surfaces. The minimum height offree space necessary above the top surfaceof the oven is 100mm.Away from radio and TV sets.Poor television reception and radiointerference may result if the oven is locatedclose to a TV, radio, antenna, feeder, etc.Place the oven as far from them as possible.Away from heating appliances and water taps.Keep the oven away from heat, steam orsplashing liquids. These things canadversely affect oven wiring and contacts.Power supply.This microwave oven requires a powersupply of approximately 10 Amperes, 120Volts, 60Hz and a grounded outlet.A short power cord is provided to reduce therisk of the user becoming entangled in ortripping oven longer cord. Longer cord setsor extension cords are available and may beused if care to exercised.If an extension cord is used, the markedelectrical rating of the cord should be at least asgreat as the electrical rating of the oven. Theextension cord must be a grounding-type 3-wirecord. The longer cord should be arranged so itdoes not drape over the table top or counterwhere children can pull on it or trip over it.Turn the oven off before cleaning.Keep the inside of the oven clean. Whenfood spatters or spilled liquids adhere tooven walls, wipe with a damp cloth. Milddetergent may be used if the oven gets verydirty. The use of harsh detergent orabrasives is not recommended.The outside oven surface should be cleaned withsoap and water, rinsed and dried with a softcloth. To prevent damage to the operating partsinside the oven, water should not be allowed toseep into the ventilation openings.If the Control Panel becomes wet, cleanwith a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harshdetergents or abrasives on Control Panel.If steam accumulates inside or around theoutside of the oven door, wipe with a softcloth. This may occur when the microwaveoven is operated under high humidityconditions and in no way indicatesmalfunction of the unit.It is occasionally necessary to remove theglass tray for cleaning. Wash the tray inwarm sudsy water or in a dishwasher.The roller guide and oven cavity floorshould be cleaned regularly to avoidexcessive noise. Simply wipe the bottomsurface of the oven with mild detergentwater or window cleaner and dry. Although your oven is provided with safetyfeatures, it is important to observe thefollowing:a) It is important not to defeat or tamperwith safety interlocks.b) Do not place any object between the frontface and the door or allow residue toaccymulate ob sealing surfaces.Wipe the sealing area frequently with a milddetergent, rinse and wipe dry. Never useabasive powders or pads.c) When opened, the door must not besubjected to stain, for example, a child hangingon an opened door or any load could cause theoven to fall forward to cause injury and alsodamage the door. Do not operate the oven if itis damaged, until it has been repaired by aqualified service engineer. It is particularlyimportant that the oven door closes properlyand that there is no damage to the:i) Door (bent)ii) Hinges and Latches (broken or loosened)iii) Door seals and Sealing surfacesd) The oven should not be adjusted orrepaired by anyone except properlyqualified service personnel.NOTE:It is quite normal for steam to be emittedaround the door during the cooking cycle. Thedoor is not intended to seal the oven cavitycompletely, but its special design contributesto the complete safety of the appliance.CAUTION:1. Do not attempt to operate the oven whileempty as this will cause damage.2. As an exhaust is located in the rear of theoven, install the oven so as not to block theoutlet.This section includes useful informationabout oven operation.1. Plug power supply cord into a standard 3-pronged 10 Amp, 120V AC 60Hz poweroutlet.2. After placing the food in a suitablecontainer, open the oven door and put it onthe glass tray.The glass tray and roller guide must alwaysbe in place during cooking.3. Shut the door. Make sure that it is firmlyclosed. When the oven door is closed, thelight turns off.The oven door can be opened at any timeduring operation by pressing the door releasebutton on the control panel. The oven willautomatically shut off. To restart the oven,close the door and then touch START.The oven automatically cooks on full powerunless set to a lower power level.The display will show “ : 0” when the ovenis plugged in.Time clock returns to the present time whenthe cooking time ends.When the STOP/CLEAR is touched duringthe oven operation, the oven stops cookingand all information retained. To erase allinformation(except the present time), touchthe STOP/CLEAR once more. If the ovendoor is opened during the oven operation, allinformation is retained.If the START is touched and the oven doesnot operate, check the area between the doorand door seal for obstructions and make surethe door is closed securely. When the oven is first plugged in, thedisplay will flash “:0”. If the AC power evergoes off, the display shows “:0” when thepower comes back on.1. Touch CLOCK pad.This is a 12 hour clock system.2. Touch CLOCK pad once more.This is a 24 hour clock system.3. Enter the correct time of day by touchingthe numbers in sequence.4. Touch CLOCK pad.<The display stops blinking, and thecolon starts blinking. If you selected 12hour clock system, this digital clockallows you to set from 1:00 to 12:59. Ifyou selected 24 hour clock system, thisdigital clock allows you to set from 0:00to 23:59>NOTE: If you attempt to enter an incorrecttime, the time will not be set and it willreturn to previous status. Touch the CLOCKpad and re-enter the time.When DEFROST is selected, the automaticcycle divides the defrosting time intoperiods of alternating defrost and standtimes by cycling on and off.1. Touch DEF. pad.<The DEFROST indicator light and “:0”is displayed>2. Touch number pads for the desireddefrosting time.<The display will show what youtouched>3. Touch START pad.Note : Your oven can be programmed for59 minutes 99 seconds(59 : 99)When you touch START pad, theDEFROST indicator starts blinking to showthe oven is in the DEFROST mode. Thedisplay counts down the time to show youhow much defrosting time is left in theDEFROST mode. Halfway throughdefrosting time, turn over, break apart and/or redistribute the food. When the defrostingtime ends, END indicator will blink.1. Touch POWER pad. (Select the desiredpower level.)<The M/W indicator lights. The displaywill show what you touched>2. Touch number pads for the cooking time.<The display will show what youtouched>3. Touch START pad.Note : Your oven can be programmed for59 minutes 99 seconds. All recipes require frozen foods to bedefrosted fully before cooking. This ovencan be programmed to automatically defrostfood before cooking.1. Touch DEF. pad.<The DEFROST indicator light and “:0”is displayed>2. Touch number pads for the defrostingtime you want.<The display will show what youtouched>3. Touch POWER pad.(Select desiredpower level.)<The M/W indicator light and “P-HI” isdisplayed. The display will show whatyou touched>4. Touch number pads for desired cookingtime.<The display will show what youtouched>5. Touch START pad.When you touch START pad, theDEFROST and M/W indicators come on toconfirm the power levels selected. TheDEFROST indicator starts blinking to showyou that the oven is in DEFROST mode.The display counts down the time remainingin DEFROST mode. Halfway throughdefrosting time, turn over, break apartand/or redistribute the food. At the end ofDEFROST mode, the oven will start M/Wcook. The DEFROST indicator goes off and theM/W indicator starts blinking.The displaycounts down the time remaining in M/Wcook. When M/W cook ends, ENDindicator will blink.SPEEDY COOK allows you to reheat for30 seconds at 100% (full power) by simplytouching the SPEEDY COOK pad. Byrepeatedly touching the SPEEDY COOKpad, you can also extend reheating time to 5minutes in 30 second increments.1. Touch SPEEDY COOK pad.<When you touch SPEEDY COOK,“:30” is displayed, and the oven startsreheating>One touch cooking allows you to cook orreheat many of your favorite foods bytouching just one pad. To increase quantity,touch chosen pad until number in display issame as desired quantity to cook.(except forPOPCORN)1. Touch BEVERAGE pad once for 1 cup,twice for 2 cups or three times for 3 cups.<When you touch BEVERAGE padonce, “1” is displayed. Touch FROZEN VEGETABLE padonce for 7 oz of frozen vegetable or twicefor 14 oz of frozen vegetable. <When youtouch FROZEN VEGETABLE pad once.“7” is displayed. Some brands of frozen pizzamay require more or lesscooking time.6. 12To alter one touch cooking or cooking timewhilst oven is in operation, use LESS orMORE.(except for defrosting). PressLESS/MORE to decrease/increase the onetouch cooking time in multiples of 10seconds. The overall one touch cookingtime can be increased to a maximum of 59minutes 50 seconds. Press LESS/MORE todecrease/increase the cooking time inmultiples of 1 minute. The overall cookingtime can be increased to a maximum of 59minutes.The safety lock prevents unwanted ovenoperation such as by small children. To set,press and hold STOP/CLEAR for 3seconds. To cancel, press and holdSTOP/CLEAR for 3 seconds.To set, press and hold LESS for 3 seconds,and display will turn off.If you touch any key pads, display will turnon and the oven will operate normally.If you don’t touch any key pads within 10seconds, display will turn off and POWERSAVE MODE will be activatedautomatically.To cancel, press and hold LESS for 3seconds, and display will turn on.1. 14GENERAL INFORMATION➪Put the food on a microwave rack (roasts, bone-in pieces) or in a microwave casserole (small piecessuch as cubes or strips) or weigh at home on a kitchen scale. Round number to the nearest tenth of apound and choose that number with each item pads.➪The shape of food items, especially larger ones, will vary affect the way defrost. Always check thestatus after the standing time. Fish, seafood and poultry should still be somewhat icy in the center theheld under cold running water to finish defrosting.
