The openings should never beblocked by placing the monitor on a bed, sofa,rug, or other similar surface. This should neverbe placed  near or over a radiator or heat register.This monitor  should not be placed in a built-ininstallation such as a  bookcase unless properventilation is provided.8. This monitor should be operatedonly from the type of power sourceindicated on the marking label. Ifyou are not sure of the powersupplied to your home, consultyour monitor dealer or local power company.9. This monitor is equipped with a3-wire grounding type plug, a plughaving a third (grounding) pin. Thisplug will only fit into agroundingtype power outlet. This isa safety feature.  If you are unable to insert theplug into the outlet, contact your electrician toreplace your obsolete outlet.  Do not defeat thepurpose of the groundingtype plug. 10. Do not allow anything to reston the power cord.  Do not locatethis monitor where the cord will beabused by persons walking on it. 11. Follow all warnings and instructions markedon the monitor.  12. For added protection for thismonitor during a lightning storm,or  when it is left unattended andunused for long periods of time,unplug it from the wall outlet. Thiswill prevent damage to the set due to lightningand powerline surges. 13. Do not overload wall outlets and extensioncords as this can result in fire or electric shock. 14. Never push objects of any kind into thismonitor through cabinet slots, as they may touchdangerous voltage points or short out parts thatcould result in a fire or electric shock. Never spillliquid of any kind on the monitor. 15. Do not attempt to service thismonitor yourself as opening orremoving covers may expose youto dangerous voltage or otherhazards.  Refer all servicing toqualified service personnel. 16. Unplug this monitor from the wall outlet andrefer servicing to qualified service personnelunder  the following conditions: a. When the power cord or plug is damaged orfrayed. b. If liquid has been spilled into the monitor. c. If the monitor has been exposed to rain orwater. d. If the monitor does not operate normally byfollowing the operating instructions.  Adjust onlythose controls that are covered by the operatinginstructions as improper adjustment of othercontrols may result in damage and will oftenrequire extensive work by a qualified technicianto restore normal operation. e. If the monitor has been dropped or the cabinethas been damaged. f. When the monitor exhibits a distinct change inperformance this indicates a need for service. 17. When replacement parts arerequired be sure the servicetechnician has used replacementparts specified by the manufacturerthat have the same characteristicsas the original part.  Unauthorized substitutionsmay result in fire, electric shock, or otherhazards. 18. Upon completion of any service or repairs tothis monitor, ask the service technician toperform routine safety checks to determine thatthe monitor is in safe operating condition.

INSTALLING THE TILT/SWIVEL STAND1. Ensure that the power to the monitor is off. 2. Set the monitor face down with the underside facingyou.  Please be careful so as not to scratch the monitorscreen. 3. Align the four hooks on the stand with the guide holesof bottom chassis of the monitor.  4. Insert the hooks into the guide holes. 5. Slide the tilt/swivel stand toward the front of themonitor until the latch locks in position.  6. Lift the stand to separate.
CONNECTING TO THE MACINTOSHCOMPUTER                                                      1. Turn off the computer and monitor. 2. Attach the Macintosh cable adapter to the Macintoshvideo card. 3. Tighten the screws on the cable adapter. 4. Connect the signal cable provided with your monitor tothe other end of the Macintosh cable adapter.  5. Tighten the screws between the Macintosh cableadapter and the signal cable.5CONNECTING THE SIGNAL CABLE ANDPOWER CORD1. Turn off the computer and monitor.2. Connect the 15 pin D-sub connector to the output port ofthe video card in your computer.3. Tighten the screws of connector.4. Plug the power cord into the AC receptacle located atthe back of the monitor. 5. 7POWER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM                    If you use the monitor with a computer which complieswith the power saving program, you can set the monitorto go blank when the system has remained unused for aperiod of time.  To specify the period or to disable thisfeature, set the system timeout field of the computer’ssystem setup program or use special software for powersaving.  See the computer user’s manual for the details ofusing the system setup.  While the monitor is in powersaving mode (blank screen), it consumes less power thannormal state; the color of the power LED will indicate thestate.  To restore the screen image, press any key of yourkeyboard or move your mouse.  If the signal cable isconnected loosely or disconnected, the power savingfeature will operate.DISPLAY DATA CHANNEL (DDC) FOR PLUG &PLAYIf you use the monitor with a computer which complieswith DDC1/2B/2Bi/2B+of VESA, the Host-Video Cardautomatically configures itself without your interventionin a way that best fits the attached monitor.  The DisplayData Channel, DDC, allows the monitor to inform thehost system about configuration information for optimumuse of the monitor.
