III.4 Use of the Wireless Remote Control
1.
The wireless remote control regulates the speed of your MAVERIX skateboard.
Pulling the trigger toward you will accelerate the board. Releasing the lever will
return it to the near-neutral position, and allow you to coast downhill. Pushing the
trigger away from you will engage braking.
Your Wireless Remote Control has a range of approximately 1,50 m beyond which
the skateboard will automatically free wheel.
Three speed positions are available under the 9
Volts battery as follows:
Position 1 : maximum speed
Position 2 : medium speed
Position 3 : low speed
If the Wireless Remote Control beeps 8 times in a row, it means the batteries are
running down and should be replaced. Do not ride the board with low batteries, at
the risk of leading to unreliable communication between the skateboard and the
wireless remote control.
The wireless remote control turns itself
on by using the black switch located on
top of the gun box. Press « I », the
remote control will beep once; it means
it is powered on. On the « O » position,
the remote control is turned off. On the
« II » position, you will be simultaneously
using the remote control lights (LEDs
located in front of your remote control)
and be in control of your electric
skateboard.
2.
ON + Lights
ON
OFF
After stepping on your board, slowly pull the trigger
towards you. Your MAVERIX skateboard will then
progressively accelerate accordingly to the pressure
you will be applying on the trigger.
3. To return your MAVERIX skateboard
to freewheel position, simply release the
trigger.
4.
To decelerate, slowly release the trigger. To slow
to a stop, push the trigger away from you, thereby
activating the engine braking. Your braking
distance will depend on your weight and the
surface on which you operate.
Beware: Know your limits and accelerate and brake
accordingly. Get started slowly and keep a
reasonable speed until full control of your MAVERIX
skateboard.
The Wireless Remote Control Batteries
The Wireless Remote Control requires a 9 Volt Alkaline battery. Put the « Power »
button of the remote control on « O » when not in use in order to maximize the
battery life.
If the remote does not react with your skateboard, please replace the battery.
IMPORTANT :
The supplied wireless remote control uses a unique radio frequency that minimizes
the risk of interference. However, interference may possibly occur with other
MAVERIX skateboards if you use the same frequency, or when you are close to high
voltage power lines, or with mobile phones or any equipment that emits radio waves.
Carefully check areas where you use your MAVERIX skateboard.
III.5
Powering on your MAVERIX Electric Skateboard
Your MAVERIX skateboard is equipped with a power button "ON / OFF" on the
side of the battery pack of your board.
To turn on your skateboard, please press the power button "ON".
Remember to reposition the button to "OFF" when not in use.
Leaving your MAVERIX electric skateboard permanently on the "ON" position
when not in use, can damage the electronics and batteries of your board.
10
III.6 USE OF THE MAVERIX SAFETY LEASH
For each use, it is essential to use the safety leash provided with each one of our
products (Except for the Phantom 250W and the California 150W).
Place the magnetic part of the safety leash on the electric panel box (see photo
below) and the other end to your ankle. The MAVERIX skateboard will not start if
you do not connect the safety leash (European Safety Standard).
In case of fall, the MAVERIX skateboard will stop instantly, thus avoiding any risk of
collisions with the surroundings.
To start again, simply remember to place your safety leash on the magnetized
part.
IV
FIRST USE OF YOUR MAVERIX SKATEBOARD
Dear Customers,
Before using your MAVERIX Skateboard for the first time and to ensure you a perfect
driving safety, it is imperative to read the original User Manual of the MAVERIX
Skateboard and to fully understand the meaning of its content.
11
Thorough understanding of the information in this manual is the first step in safety
enjoying all the performances of your MAVERIX skateboard.
Caution:
RISKS OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH
Driving a MAVERIX skateboard may involve risks of serious injury or death due to loss
of control, a collision or a fall...
To reduce these risks, it is imperative to read and follow all instructions and warnings
mentioned in the MAVERIX skateboard original User Manual before operating your
MAVERIX skateboard for the first time.
IV.1
BEFORE OPERATING
Make sure you have fully understood the working specificities of your MAVERIX
electric skateboard detailed in the previous chapter.
Helmet and protective gear should be worn at all times when on the board, even
when riding for short distances or durations.
Make sure the surfaces you are going to evolve on are suitable, dry and free of
high-voltage power lines, radio antennas, without obstacles and uncrowded.
CAUTION :
You are about to use a powerful equipment.
If you have any doubts about your abilities in the use of your MAVERIX
electric skateboard, do not use it now.
Even if you feel immediately able to use this product, give yourself time to
learn properly and safely.
Always remember that your MAVERIX electric skateboard is silent which
means that other people do not hear you coming.
Use enough braking distance to avoid possible collisions with persons or
obstacles.
12
IV.2
STARTUP
1. First, check that you are on the low speed mode. Make sure the power button
on your MAVERIX electric skateboard (switch located in front of the battery) is
set to "ON" and the power of the remote is set to "O".
2. Get on the board, connect your safety leash and make sure to have a
comfortable
and
adequate
position
before
starting.
(The chest straight, the knees slightly bent, the body weight slightly forward ...)
3. Without putting your finger on the trigger, turn on your remote control, setting
the knob to "I" or "II" if you want to use the remote control lighting.
4. Lightly squeeze the trigger in order to make your MAVERIX skateboard gain
speed.
5. Slightly push the trigger forward in order to brake.
6. Be sure that you are thoroughly familiar with all the features and controls
discussed in this manual before you ride your MAVERIX electric skateboard.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Know your limits and accelerate and brake accordingly. Get
started slowly and keep a reasonable speed until full control of your MAVERIX
skateboard.
IV.3 UPHILL AND DOWNHILL RUNS
On an uphill run, you will find that you need to keep your weight over the rear
wheels to keep them from slipping.
If the hill is too steep, the board will bog down and continued use may overheat
the engine. Stop, step off and walk the steep hills.
This board will take lighter weight riders up hills faster and will slow down under the
weight of heavier riders.
On downhill runs, the engine remains engaged at all times. Do not hesitate to
slow down slightly in order to avoid taking too much speed.
A smooth and regular use of the engine braking is preferable to a sudden use at
high speed. Know your limits and ride within them.
13
IV.4 SPEED
Never ride down hills that are too steep to maintain safe control of your MAVERIX
skateboard. Never ride down hills that require constant braking as this can
damage the board’s electronics.
IV.5 BENDS AND CURVES
Steer your MAVERIX board as you would a regular skateboard.
Gently press your heels or toes on the side of the board to turn slightly.
The more pressure you will be applying with your heels or toes, the more you are
going to turn.
Do not try to make big turns at high speed.
IV.6 Charging the battery of your MAVERIX electric
skateboard
In order to charge your MAVERIX skateboard, the charger (provided) plugs into an
ordinary outlet (220 volts), and into the battery block below the deck.
The batteries are fully charge when the light on the charger turns from red to green.
Caution: When the light turns green, disconnect the charger from the battery and
the wall outlet. If the battery remains in charge too long, you may damage the
charger and battery.
IV.7 Charging cycle
Before first use, make sure your MAVERIX electric skateboard has a full charge. A full
charging cycle can take 3 to 6 hours (charging time depends on the model).
Your battery will reach its maximum life after 3 or 4 loads.
Caution
Never dismantle your charger even in case of failure; a residual electric current
always remains in a charger, even unplugged from a wall outlet. In case of failure,
please contact your dealer.
To prevent moisture or any other element from damaging your system, it is strongly
recommended to close carefully the cover of the charger plug, located on the
14
battery block of your MAVERIX skateboard.
To avoid deterioration of the connections, unplug the charger by the ends
without pulling on the wire.
IV.8 SETTINGS AND CONSUMABLES REPLACEMENT
Under normal use, your MAVERIX electric skateboard requires no adjustments.
However it is recommended to check the wear and tear of every element of your
skateboard before each use (see next section).
MAINTENANCE OF YOUR MAVERIX ELECTRIC
SKATEBOARD
CAUTION
Failure to follow maintenance instructions and guidelines mentioned in this
section will void your warranty.
Before Intervening:
- Make sure your MAVERIX skateboard is unplugged from the
220 volt outlet and its charger.
- Also disconnect the battery.
V.1 Maintenance
Under normal use, your MAVERIX electric skateboard requires
maintenance. However, before each use, check the following :
Ø
Ø
Ø
Ø
very
little
Tightening the front and rear trucks
The chain tension (for the 800W model)
The tire pressure (for the 800W model)
The charge of battery cells (remote control and skateboard)
15
Your MAVERIX electric skateboard is not waterproof and must not be ridden in the
rain, mud, or other wet areas to prevent electrical damage. Always keep your board
clean and free of moisture.
V.2 Replacement and maintenance of the timing belt
If you have chosen a model using a timing belt (150W, 250W, 400W or 600W), know
that it is tested before each shipment to ensure the quality of our products.
On the other hand, the timing belt is considered as a consumable and might need
to be replaced.
Maintenance Tips :
•
If a foreign element enters the belt cover (sand, gravel …) stop the engine
and clean the housing as soon as possible by removing the cover in front of
the wheel.
•
For the model using a chain (800W Border Cross) remember to regularly :
Tighten again the chain
Lubricate the metal transmission parts (chain, pinion…)
V.3 Replacement and maintenance of the wheels
Like all skateboards, wheels and bearings wear out over time.
On electric skateboards, it is normal that the drive wheel wears out faster than the
other ones.
You can find all the replacement equipment necessary from your dealer.
Maintenance Tips :
•
On the 800W Border Cross model, you can simply swap the tires by removing
the rim of the wheels you want to change.
• The tire pressure must be equal to approximately "1 bar" to ensure the perfect
stability of the electric skateboard and preserve the inner tubes.
16
V.4 Maintenance of the batteries
The rechargeable batteries provided with your MAVERIX skateboard should last 1-2
years if kept properly charged, used and stored, but will slowly decrease in capacity
and eventually fail to hold a charge beyond this limit.
To maintain maximal life, always keep your batteries charged when storing for
extended periods of time. Charge your MAVERIX skateboard at least once a month
to maintain battery life.
These batteries are easily replaceable; you may order replacement batteries
contacting your dealer.
Tips :
•
Charge your board at least once a month.
•
Always keep your MAVERIX electric skate horizontal.
•
Store batteries in a dry place away from sunlight.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
MAVERIX guarantee your electric skateboard for 1 year from the date of
purchase in store.
This warranty covers manufacturing defects that may occur following your
purchase.
Beyond the warranty period, MAVERIX provides you a repair service after
submission of a quotation.
For more information on our technical support please contact your dealer.
