1 REQUIREMENTS OF PART 15 - FCC RULES
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two
conditions:
(1) This device may not cause harmful interference
(2) This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause
undesired operation.
(3) The FCC label is located inside of the battery compartment
Information to the User - Part 15.105 (b)
NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device,
pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against
harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio
frequency energy and, if not used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to
radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular
installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can
be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the
interference by one or more of the following measures: Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna;
Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver; Connect the equipment into an outlet on a
circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. Consult the dealer or an experienced
radio/TV technician for help.

Changes or modifications not expressly approved by Way Systems could void the user’s authority to
operate the equipment.
2 SAR (Specific Absorption Rate)
Definition: SAR is the measure of the rate of absorption of radio frequency (RF) energy in the human
body.
This product meets the government’s requirements for exposure to radio waves, and complies with the
EU Directive 1999/519/EC EMF for Mobile and Portable devices. The way5000 is a wireless radio
transmitter and receiver designed and manufactured by Way Systems, not to exceed limits for exposure
to RF energy set by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and by the Canadian regulatory
authorities. These limits are part of comprehensive guidelines and establish permitted levels of RF energy
for the general population. The SAR limit set by the FCC and by the Canadian regulatory authorities is 1.6
W/kg.1 Tests for SAR are conducted using standard operating positions accepted by the FCC and by
Industry Canada with the device transmitting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency
bands. Although the SAR is determined at the highest certified power level, the actual SAR level of the
way5000 while operating can be well below the maximum value. This is because the way5000 is
designed to operate at multiple power levels so as to use only the power required to reach the network. In
general, the closer you are to a wireless base station, the lower the power output. Before a portable
device is available for sale to the public in the U.S. and Canada, it must be tested and certified to the FCC
and Industry Canada that it does not exceed the limit established by each government for safe exposure.
The tests are performed in positions and locations (e.g., hand-held, head, ear...) reported to the FCC and
available for review by Industry Canada. The highest SAR value as measured on the way5000 are: body1.57 W/kg.

In the United States and Canada, the SAR limit for portable device used by the public is 1.6 watts/kg
(W/kg) averaged over one gram of tissue. The standard incorporates a substantial margin of safety to
give additional protection for the public and to account for any variations in measurements.
3 SAFETY INFORMATION
Approved Accessories
Only body worn approved way5000 accessories may be used. Operations are restricted to belt-clips,
holsters or similar accessories that have no metallic component in the assembly. Using accessories not
supplied or approved by Way Systems, may cause your device to exceed RF energy exposure
guidelines.
Pacemakers
If you have a pacemaker, consult your physician before using this product.
Persons with pacemakers should observe the following precautions:
1. When in the ON position, ALWAYS keep the way5000 more than 20 centimeters (8 inches) from your
pacemaker
2. Do not carry the way5000 in the breast pocket.
3. Turn OFF the way5000 immediately if you have any reason to suspect that interference is taking
place.
Battery
1. Do not disassemble or open crush, bend or deform, puncture or shred
2. Do not modify or remanufacture, attempt to insert foreign objects into the battery, immerse or
expose to water or other liquids, expose to fire, explosion or other hazard.
3. Only use the battery for the system for which it is specified
4. Only use the battery with a charging system that has been qualified with the system per this
standard. Use of an unqualified battery or charger may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage,
or other hazard.
5. Do not short circuit a battery or allow metallic conductive objects to contact battery terminals.
6. Replace the battery only with another battery that has been qualified with the system per this
standard, IEEE-Std-1725-200x. Use of an unqualified battery may present a risk of fire, explosion,
leakage or other hazard.
7. Promptly dispose of used batteries in accordance with local regulations
8. Battery usage by children should be supervised.
9. Avoid dropping the phone or battery. If the phone or battery is dropped, especially on a hard
surface, and the user suspects damage, take it to a service center for inspection.
10. Improper battery use may result in a fire, explosion or other hazard.
Caution
Contact your local recycling center for proper battery disposal
Batteries can cause property damage and/or bodily injury such as burns if a conductive material such as
jewelry, keys, or beaded chains touch exposed terminals. The conductive material may complete an
electrical circuit and become very hot. Exercise care in handling any charged battery, particularly when
placing it inside a pocket, purse, or other container with metal objects.
