1.1 EMI Note: Nearly every modern electronic device is susceptible to electromagnetic interference (EMI) if inadequately shielded, designed, or otherwise configured for electromagnetic compatibility. Electronic Devices To avoid electromagnetic interference, please turn off your Bluetooth headset in any place where posted notices instruct you to do so. Aircraft Turn off your Bluetooth headset when on board an aircraft. The use of a Bluetooth headset might interfere the telecommunication system of an aircraft. Medical Instruments Please keep a safe distance away from the medical instruments in a hospital or medical unit when using your Bluetooth headset. If you use any other personal medical device, such as a pacemaker, please consult the manufacturer of your medical device to determine if it is adequately shielded from electromagnetic interference. Your physician might assist you in obtaining this information. 1.2 Safety Instruction Placement You are advised to put your Bluetooth headset in a safe place where it will not be bent or crushed when not in use. It will help to protect your headset. Children Keep the Bluetooth headset away from children. Some small or detachable parts might be swallowed and result in harm. 2. Brief Introduction 2.1 Bluetooth Technology Bluetooth technology is a short-distance wireless communication technology. Bluetooth products are used in frequencies operated by industry, science and medicine (ISM). It applies the technology of frequency-jump in order to avoid interference. The frequency band of 2.4GHz~2.4835GHz is divided
into 79 channels, and data is transferred at the frequency of 1600 frequency-jumps per second with a transmission distance of about 10m (Class II). 2.2 Bluetooth Headset The Bluetooth headset is a wireless headset developed with Bluetooth technology. The GoerTek GBH700 Bluetooth Headset complies with Bluetooth V 1.2 and supports the Bluetooth Headset Profile and Bluetooth Hand-free Profile. 2. The GoerTek GBH700 Headset must be fully charged (for at least 3 hours) before you use it for the first time. 3. Pair the GoerTek GBH700 Headset with your Bluetooth phone or other Bluetooth devices (see item 3.7) before using the headset. 4. Make sure the distance between headset and phone, or other Bluetooth devices, is less than 10m. Distance should be shortened if there is any barrier in between.
3.3 Adjusting the Headset to Your Ear GBH700 could be put on very easily and make you feel like with nothing when wearing it. Wearing positions could be adjusted referring to the following figures. wearing on left ear wearing on ringht ear 3.4 Adjusting the Ear-hook Angle Adjust the ear-hook angle as shown in figure. Note: Care should be taken during this process in order not to break the headset.
3.5 Battery Charge GoerTek GBH700 headset has two charge modes: 1. Using USB charging adapter: Charging steps are as follows:  Connect USB charging adapter to USB cable;  Plug the charging adapter into AC outlet. The red indicator light should turn on when connected.  Headset is fully charged when red indicator light goes out.  Unplug the charging adapter from outlet. Unplug USB cable from headset. 2. Using USB cable: Charging steps are as follows:  Connect USB cable to PC or other devices which could provide USB power.  Plug USB cable to GBH700 headset. The red indicator light should turn on when headset is connected to power.  Headset is fully charged when red indicator light goes out.  Unplug USB cable from power supply devices. Unplug USB cable from headset. Note 1: The headset will take more than 3 hours to fully charge when you use the headset for the first time. Note 2: The red indicator light on the headset will flash once every three seconds and sound a caution alert when the battery is running out of power. 3.6 Turning On/Off the Bluetooth Headset 1. Turning the headset ON: Press multi-function button for 5 seconds until blue light blinks 5 times and headset beeps twice, then release the multi-function button. The power is on. 2. Turning the headset OFF: Press the multi-function button for 3 seconds until red light blinks quickly and headset beeps twice, then release the key. The power is off. 3.7 Pairing Your Headset and Phone Before using the headset, make sure that the headset is paired to your phone or other Bluetooth devices. 1. Ensure the headset power is off before pairing. 2. Press the multi-function button for 7 seconds until red and blue lights
blink alternately, then release. The headset is now ready for pairing. 3. To allow your phone to "find" the Bluetooth headset, consult your phone's operation guide. After you begin, it will take several seconds to pair the headset to your phone. 4. Your phone should display Bluetooth headset's name after pairing. Choose "GBH700" and confirm. 5. You must enter PIN=0000; pairing is started after PIN confirmation. 6. Blue light should come on - instead of red and blue lights blinking alternately - after pairing is successfully completed. Note 1: Your phone will not find the headset if they have not been paired. Note 2: If pairing is unsuccessful after about one minute, the headset will automatically transfer to the function of "waiting." Note 3: Pairing is necessary because it guarantees communication security. PIN exchange will assure that there is a connection between your phone and headset exclusively. 3.8 Making a Call Make sure the headset is connected to your phone before you make a call. The headset can support the function of "voice dialing" if your phone has this function. For details on voice-dialing, see your phone's operation guide. 1. Voice dialing Press the multi-function button until the headset beeps to indicate that you can now say the name. Note: It is suggested that you use your headset to record your dialing voice. 2. Using your phone's keypad Dial numbers in the normal way. Your can hear on the headset when the call is connected. 3. Re-dialing the last dialed number Press the "volume increase" or "volume decrease" key. Note: Your phone's settings determine whether there is keypad
tone or not. Adjust volume during your call is connected as indicated in item 3.12. 3.9 Answering an Incoming Call Before using the headset to answer an incoming call, make sure that your headset is connected to your phone, and that the phone has stored the pairing information of the Bluetooth headset. 1. When there is an incoming call, the ring tone is heard from the headset and the blue indicator light blinks quickly. Press the multi-function key and then release to answer the phone. 2. If "automatic answer" function is set on your phone, the headset automatically answers the call when it rings. 3. If the headset is off when there is an incoming call, press the multi-function key to turn on the headset, and then press it again to answer the call. Note 1: After being paired to the headset, some brands of phones don't ring when there is an incoming call-only the headset will ring. Simply press the multi-function key to answer the call. Note 2: Some brand of phones (e.g., the SonyEricsson/P800) don't have the function of an incoming call signal notice on the headset. Just press the multi-function key to answer a call when the phone rings. 3.10 Ending a Call When using GoerTek GBH700 Bluetooth headset, you can end a call in any of these ways: 1. Press the multi-function key on the headset; 2. Press the end key on the phone; 3. The call will end automatically when the person you're talking to hangs up. 3.11 Call Transfer 1. When having a call, you can transfer the call from the headset to phone in any of these ways:
-Press and hold multi-function button until the headset beeps 2 times. -Use the relevant button on the phone -Turn off the headset 2. Press and hold the multi-function button again until you hear another two beeps or use relevant button on the phone to transfer the call from phone back to the headset: if the headset is off, just turn it on and press shortly the multi-function button. 3.12 Volume Adjustment During a call, you can control the volume through the volume button. 1. Press the "volume increase" button to increase volume. 2. Press the "volume decrease" button to decrease volume. Note 1: There will be a low, short sound each time you press the volume button; the volume of this tone will increase or decrease as you press the volume buttons. Note 2: Please tune your Bluetooth headset to a suitable volume between max. and min. Note 3: You can also use the volume buttons of your mobile phone to control the volume of the Bluetooth headset. 3.13 Mute 1. During a call, press and hold multi-function button and the “volume decrease” button at the same time until you hear an inflection, then the microphone will be in the mute mode, and the other side will not be able to hear your voice. 2. With the headset in mute mode, do the same way as in1 in order to bring the microphone back to the normal state. 3.14 Call Reject When using GBH700, you can reject calls in any way of these: -Press and hold multi-function button until you hear a long toot. -Press the End button on the phone. -The call will end automatically if the other side waits too long. 3.15 3-way Call
The headset can support the function of “3-way call” if your SIM card supplier allows this function to you. When you’re having a call and wanted by another call: 1. Press and hold multi-function button until you hear a beep first and then a inflection, thus you can remain the active call and pick up the latter one. 2. Press shortly multi-function button until the headset beeps, you can end the active call and pick up the latter one. 3. Press and hold the “volume increase” button until you hear an inflection, then you can enter a 3-way call: during the call, press and hold the “volume decrease” button until you hear 2 beeps first and then an inflection, you can end all calls. 3.16 Low Battery Alert When the battery is running out of power, the headset indicator will flash from blue to red and a beeping sound will be heard every 20 seconds indicating that the battery needs to be recharged. 4. Important Information 4. Important Information 4.1 Maintenance 1. Please keep the headset in a dry place, and clean it periodically with a soft cloth. 2. Please do not store the headset in a dusty place, nor in very high nor low temperatures. 3. Please do not disassemble the headset. 4. Try to avoid rough treatment like dropping, knocking or shaking the headset. 5. Be sure to only plug the adapter into appropriate electrical outlets, in order to avoid damaging the battery. 4.2 Battery 1. Before using the headset for the first time, please make sure the battery has been fully charged for at least 3 hours. 2. Battery maintenance: - Only professional could change the battery.
- If the headset will not been in use for a long time, it should be charged at least once every two months. - Never dispose of batteries in a fire because of the danger of explosion. 3. The talk time limit on your headset battery is up to 10 hours, and standby time is up to 300 hours. 4.3 Power Supply 1. An alternative power adapter can only connect with a compatible power source. 2. Hold the adapter, not the cable, when you remove the adapter from power socket. 3. Avoid using cleaning agents to clean your headset while it is plugged in to an electrical outlet. 4.4 Frequently Asked Questions 1. Can the Bluetooth headset be used for all mobile phones? - No, it is only suitable for mobile phones which have the Bluetooth function built-in. 2. How far is effective distance from headset to mobile phone? - Effective distance is 10 meters (33 feet, Class II), with no barriers. 3. Can another Bluetooth phone user hear my conversation? - No. Through pairing, you have created a secure link between your headset and mobile phone. 4. Why does the red light turn on and flash? - The battery is running out of power. Please charge it. 5. Under what circumstances can the mobile phone search for the Bluetooth headset? - Bluetooth headset can be searched for only when it is in function of pairing. Please refer to item 3.7 for details. 6. Is pairing needed each time when I use the Bluetooth headset? - No. The paired will be stored on both devices even if one or both of them has been turned off.
7. Is it necessary to reconnect when there is an interruption between the mobile phone and the headset? - Different brands of phones have different requirement. Some phones can be connected automatically if the headset is in the effective distance. Some other mobile phones require you to input a password to reconnect. 8. Why is there noise in my Bluetooth headset? - When the distance between the mobile phone and headset exceeds operating range, background noise will increase. If the signal for mobile phone is not very good in your area, the headset will have corresponding poor quality reception. 9. What do I do if the headset's connection is not clear? - Try changing the volume of your phone or headset. Also, confirm the quality of the signal in your area. 4.5 Other Instructions Different mobile phones have different functions; the above instructions may not cover all the matters.
