Battery Safety Information:
¥ Requires eight AAA (LR3i batteries lnot included).
v W e recommend you use alkaline batteries. Rechargeable batteries may
affect perforrmnce.

¥ Do not recharge non-rechargeable batteries.
96 Remove dead or exhausted batteries.
¥ Insert batteries correctly. Match positive and negative symbols.
¥ Do not place anything across the battery terminals.
¥ Only use the batteries specified above.
¥ Do not mix alkaline, standard lcarbon-zinc), or rechargeable
lnickel-cadtniutn or NiMHi batteries.
¥ Do not mix old and new batteries.
¥ Do not dispose of batteries in a fire; they may explode.
¥ Dispose of batteries safely, recyclethem where possible.
Attention Adults -- T 0 Replace Batteries
Explorer's Positioning System“ requires two AAA (LR3i batteries for each
sensor and two AAA (LRS) batteries for the base station, making eight
AAA (LR3) batteries in total lnot included).
To Install Batteries In The Base Station
1. Locate the battery compartment on the bottom ofthe base station.
Use a small Phillips head screwdriver to loosen the screw, and unclip the
battery cover. (fig A).
2. Place batteries in compartment as shown.
3. Replace battery cover and tigtten screw.
T 0 Install Batteries In Each Sensor
1. Locate the screw on the base ofthe sensor. Use a small Phillips head
screwdriver to loosen the screw and trnclipthe battery cover,
2. Place batteries in compartment as shown trig B).
3, Replace battery cover and tig1ten screw.
4. Repeat for each sensor.
To Set Sensors
I. Unwind the A ntenna from around each sensor and straigrten upwards,
2. Slide each sensor's switch to the 0 N position (fig ii.
3. Place each or the sensors in a hiring place anywhere up to 75 feet (22m)
from the base staion.
N or E: Be sure to set the sensor lens ocing away from any obstructions
(walls, books etc).
T 0 Track the Action!
1. Flipopen the Map C over,
2. Slide the A udio / Mute / Off switch to mute or audio position
(fig 2), The Map G rid will illuminate.
3. Make sure the antenna on the hand held unit is as straight as possible.
4. Use the Dry Erase Market to draw a plan on the mapgid
showing where the sensors are set.
Tip: Draw a line from each sensors LED to its position on the ptan.
S. W hen someone moves in front of Liglt sensorlsensot 2) or moves
the Vibrator (sensor ii with the Audio /Mule/0fl swrtch in A udio
position, the base station will announce which sensor has been tripped
and the sensor's LED will flash.

I. Slide the Audio lMUte lOffswitch to the "0 FF" position
2. Collect each sensor and Wrap its antenna around the sensor body.
3. W ipe offthe map gid with aclean dry paper towel.
Troubleshooting
¥ Before settingthe sensors, move your hand in front ofthe lens. lithe LED
on the base station does not flash, check the antenna and / or batteries.
34 Check that nothingis blockingthe sensor lens. The sensors will only
detect movement five feet directly in front of the lens.
