Driving the MONSTER RODS • Turn on the Monster Rod and the controller using the On/Off switches as shown in the Battery Installation and Power On/Off section of this instruction sheet. • The power indicator light on the controller will glow as long as the battery has power. TM 0250 Asst. AGES 4+ Battery Requirements Monster Rod 6 x AA Controller 1 x 9V Batteries Not Included INSTRUCTION Forward Reverse Push Throttle Forward to make the Monster Rod roar forwards. Push Throttle Reverse to make the Monster Rod scream backwards. Right Spin Flametop Steering Wheel Left Spin Throttle Forward Throttle Reverse Monster Rods Rotate the steering wheel to the right to make the Monster Rod spin to the right. Rotate the steering wheel to the left to make the Monster Rod spin to the left. Whiplash Power Indicator Light Controller Flathead Battery Installation and Power On/Off nt tery Bat partme Com r Cov 1) Remove the battery compartment cover using a Phillips or crosshead screwdriver (not included). 2) Lift out the battery compartment using the handle. 3) Insert 6 x AA batteries (not included) as shown in the diagram. 4) Replace the battery compartment, making sure that the metal contacts on the compartment are in the correct position to engage OFF ON with the metal contacts in the car. 5) Replace the battery compartment cover and the screw. We recommend the use of rechargeable batteries. • Remove rechargeable batteries from the toy before recharging them. • Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision. • Please respect the correct polarity, (+) and (-). • Do not dismantle batteries of any type. • Do not try to charge non-rechargeable batteries. • Do not throw batteries into the fire. • Replace all batteries of the same type/brand at the same time. • Do not short-circuit the battery contacts. • Remove exhausted batteries from the toy. • Batteries should be replaced by adults because of small parts. • Remove batteries if the toy is not going to be played with for some time. Left Turn or or While driving forwards or backwards, briefly rotate the steering wheel to the right to make the Monster Rod turn to the right. While driving forwards or backwards, briefly rotate the steering wheel to the left to make the Monster Rod turn to the left. Driving Tips: If you hold the wheel in a turn while driving forward or backwards the Monster Rod will spin out. Practice doing this for quick direction changes. Wheelie & Mouth Open Remember that when the vehicle is coming towards you, it will steer in the opposite direction to the way you turn the wheel. Try to imagine that you are in the driver’s seat to work out the direction it will turn in. To perform a wheelie, drive in reverse and quickly push the throttle forward. The driver will open his mouth and let out a monstrous laugh as the front wheels lift off the ground. Battery Compartment Cover OFF 9V 6LR61 Removable Battery Compartment Right Turn When you have finished playing, make sure that you turn the On/Off switch on the controller and Monster Rod to “Off”. ON On/Off Switch Safety Precautions 1) Remove the battery compartment cover using a Phillips or crosshead screwdriver (not included). 2) Insert 1 x 9V battery (not included) as shown in the diagram. 3) Replace the battery compartment cover and the screw. • Never drive your Monster Rod on the streets. • Do not pick up the vehicle while it is in motion. • Keep fingers, hair and loose clothing away from the tires and wheels while the vehicle is in motion. • Do not drive the vehicle through water. • For best results, hold the antenna up, not pointing down towards the vehicle. • Drive safely!
