Partri® Purial Exciter
The Perceptls’“ Portal Exciter, part of the Perceptls
Buddym System, is a low frequency transmitter. The
Portal Exciter's transmissions cause approaching
Perceptls Buddy tags to transmit location
information to the Perceptls Local Area Receivers.
Tools and Materials Required
o Perceptls Portal Exciter (p/n 805A1801)
~ Drill and drill bits
- Keypad
- Wire
Installing the Portal Exciter
The Perceptls Portal Exciter connects to the
LonWorks‘” network. Use the Perceptls software to
setup, configure, and control the Perceptls Portal
Exciter.
1, Install the PerceptIs Portal Exciter above the
area to be protected, usually a doorway.
2. Position the Portal Exciter in the required
location. Mark the mounting the holes. Remove
the Portal Exciter. Drill the mounting holes.
Replace the Portal Exciter and secure with
screws. Place the four caps (provided) over the
mounting holes,
3. Connect the Portal Exciter to the LonWorks
network.
Note: To ensure the Portal Exciter cannot be
removed, do not leave more than 2 it. (0.6 m) of
slack wire.
4. Connect the door contacts and the keypad to the
Portal Exciter.
5. Attach the power supply to the Portal Exciter.
6. Connect the power supply to a 110 VAC outlet.
Configuring the Portal Exciter
The Perceptls software configures all Portal
Exciters directly from the Perceptls computer.
Please see the Perceptls Installation Manual for
configuring information.

Warnings
No User Adjustments — there are no user
adjustments. Tampering with the internal circuitry
may cause component or system failure, or both,
and will void the warranty.
Follow Installation Instructions Precisely A
instructions must be carefully followed throughout
the installation of all Perceptls Portal Exciters.
Failure to follow the instructions may cause
degraded performance.
Electrostatic Discharge could damage the Perceptls
Portal Exciters when handling the internal
components. Touch your hand to ground to
discharge any electrostatic charge on you before
handling the components.
Warranty
Instantel's products are warranted against defects
in materials and workmanship and shall perform in
accordance with published specifications for a
period of one year, lnstantel Inc. reserves the right
to change specifications without notice.
Limitation of Liability
This Product has been designed for use to: a) assist
personnel in summoning help when they are under
personal duress, b) assist in the prevention of infant
abduction c) locate assets, d) assist in the prevention
of the loss of assets and/or e) to reduce the risk of
resident wandering through remote detection.
The range, accuracy, function and performance of
this Product may vary from the published
specifications due to many factors, including,
without limitation, site impairments from structural
effects, metal objects in the vicinity, placement of
the receiver and transmitter, interference from
other electrical devices, atmospheric effects,
installation, and maintenance. There may be other
factors which also affect performance of this
Product. Instantel does not guarantee that this
Product will: a) detect 100‘717 of the calls for personal
assistance, b) detect 10070 of infant abductions, c)
locate all assets 100% of the time, d) prevent the
loss of assets, and/or e) detect 10051: of resident
wandering nor does lnstantel guarantee that this
Product will not return false reports of resident
wandering.
Monthly testing and maintenance of this Product, as
described in the Product documentation, is essential
to verify the system is operating correctly and to
ensure that the probability of detecting an alarm
and locating the tag are maximized. The failure to
undertake regular testing and maintenance will
increase the risk of system failure and: a) failure to
report personal duress calls, b) failure to locate
assets, c) failure to prevent the loss of assets.
Instantel hereby disclaims all warranties, express or
implied, arising out of or in connection with any of
its Products of the use or performance thereof,
including but not limited to, where allowable by
law, all other implied warranties or conditions of
merchantahle quality and fitness for a particular
purpose and those arising by statute or otherwise in
law or from a course of dealing or usage of trade.
Instantel’s liability to you or anyone claiming
through or on behalf of you with respect to any
claim or loss arising out ofthe use or misuse of
Instantel’s Product, defective products or materials,
improper installation or maintenance of Instantel’s
Product or products or the system in which they are
incorporated, or alleged to have resulted from an act
or omission of lnstantel or any person, negligent or
otherwise, shall be limited to:
A) The repair or replacement of defective Product
or materials supplied by Instantel during the
warranty period as set out in the Product
documentation; or, at the option of Instantel,
B) Refund of the purchase price of the Product
supplied by Instanbel.
In no event shall lnstantel be liable for general,
specific, indirect, consequential, incidental,
exemplary or punitive damages or any losses or
expenses suffered by you or anyone else, whether or
not lnstantel, or its employees, officers, agents,
resellers or installers has been informed of the risk
of such loss or expense and whether or not such
