Statements for M-Series Only
Telecommunication Devices/Modem Approvals
The telecommunication device in Motion Tablet PCs (M-Series only) is approved for
connection to the telephone network in the countries whose approval markings are
indicated on the product label located on the Tablet PC or on an internal Tablet PC
component.
See the documentation included with the product to ensure the product is configured
for the country in which it is located. Selecting a country other than the one in which it
is located may cause the modem to be configured in a way that violates the
telecommunications regulations of that country. In addition, the modem may not
function properly if you make an incorrect country selection. When selecting a
country, if a message appears that states that the country is not supported, then the
modem has not been approved for use in this country and should not be used.
United States Modem Statement
Motion Tablet PCs contain an internal modem (M-Series only) that has been tested to
comply with FCC Standards, specifically FCC Part 68 Reg. No: 5ZXMUL-36273-FBE; AC REN:0.1B; USOC:RJ11; DOC REN:.0.0. The internal modem is located under
the rectangular Hard Disk Drive cover on the Tablet PC back panel and contains the
regulatory label.
Canadian Modem Statement
This equipment meets telecommunications network protective, operational, and safety
requirements as prescribed in the appropriate Terminal Equipment Technical
Requirements document(s). This is confirmed by marking the equipment with the
Industry Canada certification number. The Department does not guarantee that the
equipment will operate to your satisfaction.
Before installing the equipment, you should ensure that it is permissible to be
connected to the facilities of the local telecommunications company. The equipment
must also be installed using an acceptable method of connection. You should be aware
that compliance with the above conditions might not prevent degradation of service in
some situations.
Repairs to certified equipment should be coordinated by a representative designated by
the supplier. Any repairs or alterations made by you to this equipment, or equipment
malfunctions, may give the telecommunications company cause to request you to
disconnect the equipment.

You should ensure for your own protection that the electrical ground connections of
the power utility, telephone lines, and internal metallic water pipe system, if present,
are connected together. This precaution may be particularly important in rural areas.
The Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) assigned to each terminal device provides an
indication of the maximum number of terminals allowed to be connected to a
telephone interface. The termination of an interface may consist of any combination of
devices, subject only to the requirement that the sum of the RENs of all the devices
does not exceed 5. The REN for this device is 1.

Laser Safety Notice
For safety and regulatory information about third-party products that may contain
Class 1 laser equipment, see the documentation shipped with the product.
Motion CDROM and DVD/CDRW drives are Class 1 laser products. A Class 1 laser is
considered to be incapable of producing damaging radiation levels and is therefore
determined to be eye safe. These lasers are exempt from most control measures. Many
lasers in this class are lasers which are embedded in an enclosure that prohibits or
limits access to the laser radiation. However, we recommend that you do not stare into
the beam or view it directly with optical instruments.
Wireless Notices
In some environments, the use of wireless devices may be restricted. Such restrictions
may apply aboard airplanes, in hospitals, near explosives, in hazardous locations, etc.
If you are uncertain of the policy that applies to the use of this device, please ask for
authorization to use it prior to turning it on. For instructions for disabling internal and
external wireless devices, see the section “Airline Travel Notice” in this guide.
