It isdesigned and manufactured not to exceed the emission limits forexposure to radiofrequency (RF) energy set by the FederalCommunications Commission of the U.S. Government. Theselimits are part of comprehensive guidelines and establish
11permitted levels of RF energy for the general population. Theguidelines are based on standards that were developed byindependent scientific organizations through periodic andthorough evaluation of scientific studies. The standards include asubstantial safety margin designed to assure the safety of allpersons, regardless of age and health. The exposure standard forwireless mobile phones employs a unit of measurement knownas the Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit set bythe FCC is 1.6 W/kg. * Tests for SAR are conducted with thephone transmitting at its highest certified power level in all testedfrequency bands. Although the SAR is determined at the highestcertified power level, the actual SAR level of the phone whileoperating can be well below the maximum value. This is becausethe phone is designed to operate at multiple power levels so as touse only the power required to reach the network. In general, thecloser you are to a wireless base station antenna, the lower thepower output. Before a phone model is available for sale to thepublic, it must be tested and certified to the FCC that it does notexceed the limit established by the government adoptedrequirement for safe exposure. The tests are performed inpositions and locations (e.g., at the ear and worn on the body) asrequired by the FCC for each model. The highest SAR value for
12this model phone when tested for use at the ear is 0.78 W/Kg andwhen worn on the body, as described in this user guide, is1.16W/Kg (Body-worn measurements differ among phonemodels, depending upon available accessories and FCCrequirements). The FCC has granted an Equipment Authorizationfor this model phone with all reported SAR levels evaluated as incompliance with the FCC RF exposure guidelines. SARinformation on this model phone is on file with the FCC and canbe found under the Display Grant section of http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid after searching onFCC ID: 2AKSAMOVIC-M Additional information on SpecificAbsorption Rates (SAR) can be found on the CellularTelecommunications Industry Association (CTIA) web-site athttp://www.wow-com.com. * In the United States and Canada, the SAR limit for mobile phones used by the public is 1.6watts/kg (W/kg) averaged over one gram of tissue. The standardincorporates a substantial margin of safety to give additionalprotection for the public and to account for any variations inmeasurements.
