FIRMWARE UPDATING PROCEDURE IMPORTANT NOTICE Do not attempt to update your Yamaha receiver using any other data file except those provided directly from the Yamaha website or through your network connection. Follow the instructions carefully and do not attempt any other procedures not specified in the instructions provided by Yamaha. Improperly updated products may cause improper operation, and any parts or service required to restore proper operation will not be covered under the Yamaha Limited Warranty. Choose from the following 2 methods to update to the latest firmware. Click here for Firmware Update Through the Internet (Connection to the Internet is required) Click here for Firmware Update by USB (A USB thumb drive is required) In case of error, see the Troubleshooting section 1 Firmw ware Update Thro ough the Internet Requirrement: Intternet connecttion Yo our receiver is connected to the Internet iff you can receiive Internet rad dio stations. (S See owner’s manual for deta ails) 1 Po ower off the t receiiver (Stan ndby mo ode) 2 En nter the A ADVANC CED SETU UP mode e While pressing the e STRAIGHT key, press the e k and keep STRAIGHT ke ey pressed until (power) key “ AD DVANCED SETUP ” appearss on the front panel display. * “ ADVANCED SETUP ” is displayed only ffor a few secoonds. 3 Se elect “FIR RM UPDA ATE” from the me enu a. Press P the PRO until “ UPDATE E.....USB ” is d displayed. OGRAM key u b. Then, T press STRAIGHT keyy until “ UPDAT TE.NETWORK K ” is displayed. 4 Start firmw ware update a. Your AV V receiver is ready for norma al use. 3 Firmw ware Update by USB Require ement: SB thumb drivve, with enough free space to o store over 25MB. US (F File system with FAT16 or FA AT32 format) Firmware file pro ovided by YAM MAHA, “R03xxx-xxxx.bin”. 1 Prrepare US SB thumb drive ffor the up pdate Dow wnload the firm mware, unzip a and copy “R03xx-xxxx.bin” in nto the root dirrectory of the USB U thumb drrive. Your AV V receiver is ready for norma al use. 5 Troub bleshooting CASE 1 Erro or messa age appe eared durring the update u Cause: Metho od: For so ome reason, th he receiver ca an’t read the firrmware data. For yo our solution, check the follow wing [Update through h Internet] ❏Chheck Internet cconnection. Yo our Internet co onnection is wo orking by playiing an Internet radio station. (S See owner’s manual for details) [Update by USB thumb drive e] ❏USSB thumb drivve is connectedd properly to thhe receiver. ❏USSB thumb drivve is not passwword protectedd. (A AV receiver can nnot read data a from a securrity protected USB U thumb driive) ❏Maake sure the USB thumb drive d is inserte ed before the receiver is po owered on forr the up pdate. ❏Thhe firmware daata, R03xx-xxxxx.bin is storedd in the root directory of the USB thumb drive. ❏Thhere is no otheer data except the firmware ddata in the USSB thumb drivee. ❏Noo folders are ccreated in the UUSB thumb drrive. Else, retry the update by USB B using anothe er USB thumb drive. CASE 2 Firm mware up pdate do oesn’t sta art for oth her reaso ons ● Re eceiver does sn’t power u up after the u update. ● Orr, error mess sage appearred when co onfirming the e firmware v version. Recovery method d using USB B method: 1. Un nplug the AC p power cable frrom wall outlett. 2. Inssert the USB thumb t drive which w has the ffirmware data stored inside, into the USB port loccated on the frront panel. 3. Prress and hold the INFO(WP k it pressed while you p plug the AC po ower PS) key and keep ca able back into tthe wall outlett again. “U USB UPDATE ” will appear on o the front dissplay.
