Field Goals“ l=ield goals are scoring opponunlties that ooour when a player has been tackled or lips over. Wnen a player is tackled, the ball is placed at that spot on the hold. As described in the section above. an otlensive player who is tackled or turns over on his side ot the playing field may elect to attempt to regain a touchdown scoring opponunity by sguaring oil from respecllve end zones and racing to gain possession or the ball. If a player's scoring attempt is stopped by a tackle on the opponent‘s side ot the field, it may be advantageous tor the ottensive player to attempt to score a three-point field goal.
