Please take these safety precautions into consideration. under the following conditions :
1, Senn‘cing the vehicle
When servicing your automobile (i e. changing the oil, washing yourcar), the
CompuStar system should be in Valet Mode. There is a safely shutdown switch under
the hood that deactivates the remote starter function if the hood is open.
However. if the swrtch has been damaged or the switch has been installed improperly,
the vehicle may start when Button W. is pressed forZ seconds even ifthe hood is open.
2. Loaning your vehicle to others
Whenever you loan your vehicle to an individual who is not tamiliarwith Compustar.
please put the vehicle in Valet mode. This Will prevent the vehicle Ioaner from acciden
tally activating the CompuStar auto-security system
3. For manual transmission vehicles
Ifthe Compustar 1WAM4R is installed in a manual transmission vehicle, extra
precautions are required because the Compustar does not monitor the gear shift
Under normal circumstances, Reservation Mode is cancelled
when a door or hatchback opens. Please verify if the opening of
any door or hatchback cancels Reservation Mode. If any of the doors or hatch back is
not monitored by Compustar because of improper installation or a faulty dome light
switch, do not use the CompuStar and take your vehicle to the dealer immediately for
repair. Do not set Reservation Mode when the Windowts) are open or if there is
anyone inside of the vehicle, including animals.

The Compustar will allow up to three remoles to be programmed to one vehicle.
Please perform the following procedure to add or reprogram additional remotes.
Stepl : Activate Valet/ Programming mode by manually
turning the ignition on and off five times (between Acc and
on) with car key Within a 7 second period

You can lock or unlock the vehicle by pressing Button fl/d‘ tor a 1/2 second.
_Iarm Mode
You can arm or disarm alarm mode by pressing Button fl/fi" for a t/Z second
Press Buttons ( fl/d‘+7/. ) for a 1/2 second to make your car siren mute when
arming or disarming your vehicle. Keep in mind that your car siren will still activate
for all other modes (i.e. panic, alarm, shock sensor) regardless olwhether or not
your car siren is in mute mode. The car siren will be mute only when arming or
disarming your vehicle.
in alarm mode. the starter kill functim (this maybe an optional feature provided
by your installer) is activated. This feature disengages the starter mechanism on
your car that prevents you from starting your car even With a manual key when your
vehicle’s alarm mode is activated.
[the : If you lose your remote after you have armed the vehicle, use your key
to open the vehicle. The siren Will go off. Turn on and off ignition
5 times with your key to shut off the siren and turn the system into
valet mode. Cancel the valet mode with remote later. See Valet mode.
Ibte : (Siren duration is 30 to 60 sec depending on the options set at the
time of initial installation.)

Press Button 7/0 for 2 seconds to auto»start an automatic transmission engine.
Remember that actual key in the ignition is required to drive the car,
In addition. the armgrind circuit (this maybe an optional feature prOVided by your
installer) prevents you from recranking the starter on a remote—started
vehicle. Press Button 7/0 for 2 seoonds in order to turn off an auto-started car.
For manual transmission vehicles, please use reservation mode.
The engine will run 15 or 25 minutes (25 or 40 min for diesel) depending on preset
options at the time of installation, and then shut off. if your vehicle has a problem
starting with the remotestar‘t, the CompuStar Will try 2 additional times.
It the engine does not start after the third attempt, please contact your authorized
CompuStar dealer.
Continuation Mode : (Stop and Go feature)
While your vehicle is running with your key. press button f/. for 2 seconds,
you are now in the continuation mode Your engine will continue running for the
preset time even if you take your key out of the ignition.
Example: For that quick in and out of the vehicle. with out restarting,
Diagnosing problems with Auto-Start
If there is a problem in auto-starting your car, wait for few seconds and the cause
for the error Will be indicated by the number of times the car parking lights flash.

Reserva on Mode (manual ion only)
In orderto autostan your manual transmission car, you mustfirst set the CompuStar
system to Reservation Mode before leaving your vehicle. The purpose of Reservation
Mode is to leave the transmission gear in the neutral position when you leave your
vehicle. Reservation mode is intended for use in MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS ONLY
and NOT FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS Reservation Mode must be engaged
each and every time you leave your manual transmission car in order to autostart the
vehicle.
Note : The system is not recommended tor vehiotes with removable tops.
°~ Important Requirements to activate Resenmtion Mode
iri'he transmission must be in the NEUTRAL position.
M he vehicle windows must be rolled up.
iiDo not set the reservation mode with people in the vehicle.
irDo not auto-start the car with people in the vehicle
°~ Activating Reservation Mode (MANUAL TRANSMISSION ONLY)
Step1 : After arriVing at yourdestination, and BEFORE TURNING YOUR
ENGINE OFF, place the transmission in the Neutral position
: Remove yourfoot from the foot brake,
Step3 ctivate the parking brake.
Step4 emove the key from the ignition. The engine will remain running.
Step5 : Exit the vehicle and close the door Within two minutes after aotivafing
the parking brake. The engine will shutoff and reservation mode for
the remote starter is now complete

Your vehicle is now ready for auto-starting. However, the reservation mode will be
cancelled if the door or hatch is opened or the CompuStar system is put in Valet mode
alter the reservation has been set, Once cancelled, you will have to start the vehicle with
the manual key and repeat the above 5 steps if you want to restore resewation mode.

If you try to autostart the vehicle when reservation mode has not
Important! been set or turned on. the autostart feature will not work.
When you press the auto-start button, the car parking lights will flash two times
A couple of seconds later, the cause for the error will be indicated by the number of
times the car chirps and parking lights flash. See the following chart for enor messages.
Canceling Reservation Mode
If you do not want to set reservation mode, shut oh the engine before you exit the
vehicle. The engine will shut off for the following reasons :
- You did not activate the parking brake or pressed the toot brake when you turned
the manual key to the oft position.
- You released the parking brake while the engine was running.
- You entered Valet Mode after the Reservation Mode has been completed.
I Error Messages
If there is a problem in autostarting your car. you will hear three chirps when
you attempt to autostart the car. Wait for 2 seconds and the cause torthe
error will be indicated by the number of times parking lights flash.

Press Button as for 2 seconds in order to unlock and release your trunk door
Note that the trunk release function will not only release the trunk but wrll unlock the
all doors as well.

_uery Function
Query Function allows the owner to Visually monitor the status of your car,
Press Button © fora 1/2 second to activate the Query Function. You Will notioe the
parking lights flash as follows :

Once Armed, Engine Off
Twice Disarmed, Engine Off
Three Times Armed, Engine On
Four Times Disarmed, Engine On
_anic Mode
Press Button (3) for 2 seconds to enter Panic Mode. In this mode, the car will arm it not
armed already and the siren will activate and the parking lights will flash. In order to
disengage Panic Mode, press Button fl/J‘ for 1/2 second. Then, press Button fl/fl'
for a 1/2 second to unlock/ disarm your vehicle
It‘Anti—Jacking option has been programmed (ask your dealer it‘you like
to have this option) and the ngition—Kill has been installed , the Panic
Mode works as Anti-lacking ifthe car key in the ignition. In Anti-lacking
mode is activated while key is in the ignition,
a)Siren will go off for 1.5 minutes, and b) Ignition—Kill will be activated after
the first 30 seconds. That is to give warning to the hijacker for the first
30 seconds and then to disconnect the ignition to stop the vehicle

While the vehicle is in valet mode, the only features that Will function Will be the keyless
entry and optional auxiliary functions.
In order to enter Valet mode, press Buttons (films. a) simultaneously for 1/2 second.
In order to manually enter Valet Mode, insert your car key into the ignnion and turn the
ignition on and off (between A00 and ON) five times Within 7 seconds
You can exit Valet Mode only by pressing Buttons
(fl/n"+ at) simultaneously.
_imer St Mode
In Timer Start Mode, your car automatically starts every 1.5 or 3.0 hours depending on
preset options during the time of installation for a 24-hour period. This mode is deleted
automatically after 24 hours or once you start your car with either your manual key or
remote. In order to enterTimer Start Mode. press Buttons ( W. + ® ) simultaneously
for a 1/2 second.
Please note : Timer Start Mode becomes Cold Start Mode once an optional
temperature sensor is installed.
Timer Start Mode should be used only in open areas.
Never start and run the vehicle in an enclosed space such as
a garage or carport.

These additional features may be programmed to the CompuStar system by your
authorized CompuStar dealer
_gnition Lock
Automatic Transmission Vehicle: This programmable option enables your vehicle
to automatically lock the doors upon starting the vehicle with a key. in addition,
the vehicle will automatically unlock the doors upon pulling the key out from the
ignition This option must be chosen at the time of installation.
Manual Transmission Vehicle or Turbo Mode : This programmable option Will locks the
doors With in 5 seconds alter starting the vehicle with a key and the emergency brake is
released.
_assive Locking
You can turn this function on or off by pressing Buttons ( 7/0 + a) for a 1/2 second
When set to passwe locking, your system Will lock automatically 30 seconds afler all the
car doors are closed
_urbo Mode
If this optional Tuxbo Mode has been progrmmed at the tine of installation,
you can turn this feature on and off by pressing Buttons ( a; + @ ).
Under this mode. engine continues running for 2 minutes alter key has been taken out
fiom the ignition it emergency brake was on when the key is taken out
To utilize this mode, the emergency brake sensing wire has to be connected to the
emergency brake wire of the vehicle. Consult the authonzed dealer for this mode.
This option is ideal for turbo charged vehicles

possibilities that require additional parts and labor
_old Start Mode
If the optional tanpexatule sensor has been installed, Timer Start Mode
becomes Cold Start Mode. Under this mode, your car automatically starts it the
temperature of the inside oflhe vehicle goes below the preset temperature.
The minimum interval beMeen the starts will be 1.5 or 3.0 hours depending on
wet opions during the time of installation. Cold Stan Mode is activamd or
deactivated by pressing Buttons ( 1/0 + ® )for a 1/2 second
