Safety Information
Remote Button Functions
Please take these safety precautions into consideration under the following conditions :
Button
When servicing your automobile (i.e. changing the oil, washing your car), the
Young Shin Electronics, Inc system should be in Valet Mode. There is a safety shutdown
switch under the hood that deactivates the remote starter function if the hood is open.
However, if the switch has been damaged or the switch has been installed improperly,
the vehicle may start when the
button is pressed for 2 seconds, even if the hood
is open.
Whenever you loan your vehicle to an individual who is not familiar with Young Shin
Electronics, Inc, you may want to put the vehicle in Valet mode. This will prevent the
borrower from accidentally activating the Scosche auto-security system.
If the Young Shin Electronics, Inc. R1800 is installed in a manual transmission vehicle,
extra precautions are required because the Scosche does not monitor the gear shifter :
Under normal circumstances, Reservation Mode is cancelled
Important!
when a door or hatchback opens. Please verify that the opening
of any door or hatchback cancels Reservation Mode. If any of the doors or hatchback
are not monitored by Scosche because of improper installation or a faulty dome light
switch, do not use the Scosche and take your vehicle immediately to the dealer for
repair. Do not set Reservation Mode if the window(s) are open or if there is
anyone inside the vehicle, this includes animals. Remote start installation in a manual
transmission vehicle with a convertible top is not recommended.

Remote Learn Routine
The model name, R1800FM , is a

The Young Shin Electronics, Inc system will allow up to three remotes to be
programmed to one vehicle. Please perform the following procedure to add or
reprogram additional remotes.

Step1: Activate Valet/ Programming mode by manually
turning the ignition on and off five times
with the key within a 7 second period.
The parking lights will flash once with successful completion of
this step.
Step2 : Within a 7 second period after cycling the ignition for the 5th time,

button for a 1/2 sec. The parking lights will flash
once to confirm that the transmitter has been programmed. You can
continue programming additional remotes. The parking lights will
flash two times when the programming mode has expired.
Keyless Entry
To lock the vehicle, press the
button for 0.5 seconds.
To unlock the vehicle, press the
button for 0.5 seconds. If the pressing of the
lock/unlock buttons does not lock/unlock the doors, you will need to release the
button and try again, as the remote stops transmitting as soon as the LED stops
flashing. If the
button is pressed for 3.5 seconds, it will panic the system.
Alarm Mode
To arm the vehicle, press the
button until the LED on the remote stops flashing.
To disarm the vehicle, press the
button until the LED on the remote stops
flashing. If pressing the arm/disarm buttons does not arm/disarm the vehicle, you
will need to release the button and try again, as the remote stops transmitting as
soon as the LED stops flashing.
Press the
buttons for a 1/2 second to mute the vehicle horn or siren
when arming or disarming your vehicle. Keep in mind that your horn/siren will still
activate for all other modes (i.e. panic or alarm trigger) regardless of whether or not
your horn/siren is in mute mode. The horn/siren will be mute only when arming or
disarming your vehicle.
When the alarm is armed, the starter kill function (an optional feature provided by
your installer) is activated. This feature disengages the starter mechanism on your
vehicle and prevents it from starting, even with a key.

Note : If you lose your remote after you have armed the vehicle, use your key
to open the door. The siren will go off. Turn the ignition on then off,
5 times with your key to shut down the alarm and put the system into
valet mode. You can cancel the valet mode with a remote later on.
See : Valet mode, on page 10.
Note : Siren duration is 30 to 60 seconds depending on the options set at the
time of initial installation.
Auto-Start Function
Press the
button for 2 seconds to auto-start an automatic transmission
engine. Remember, that an actual key in the ignition is required to drive the car.
For manual transmission vehicles, please use reservation mode.
Press the
button for 2 seconds in order to turn off an auto-started car.
The engine will run 15 or 25 minutes (25 or 45 min for diesel) depending on preset
options at the time of installation, and then shut off.
If there is a problem in auto-starting your vehicle,the Young Shin Electronics, Inc
system will do one of two things ; if it fails for any of the reasons listed in the table
below, it will flash the parkinglights three times then flash the error number.
Otherwise, it will attempt to start the vehicle three times. If, after three times, the
vehicle will not start or stay running, the Young Shin Electronics, Inc. system will
shut down. In either case, please see your istaller to resolve the situation.

While your vehicle is running with your key, press the
button for 2 seconds,
you are now in the continuation mode. Your engine will continue running for the
preset time even if you take your key out of the ignition. You can now lock/arm the
vehicle if you wish to.
For a quick stop when you don’t want to restart the vehicle.
When the vehicle shuts off after reservation mode, the
Young Shin Electronics, Inc system will lock/arm the vehicle.
Take care to not lock your keys inside.
Important!
Your vehicle is now ready for auto-starting. However, the reservation mode will be
cancelled if a door or hatch is opened, or if the Scosche system is put in Valet mode.
Once cancelled, you will have to start the vehicle with the key and repeat the above
5 steps if you want to restore reservation mode.
The anti-grind circuit (an optional feature provided by your installer) prevents
you from engaging the starter on a remote-started vehicle.
If you try to auto-start the vehicle when reservation mode has
not been set, the auto-start feature will not work.
When you press the auto-start button, the car parking lights will flash three times,
pause, then flash seven times.
Important!
Reservation Mode (manual transmission only)
In order to auto-start your manual transmission vehicle, you must first set the Young Shin
Electronics, Inc. system to Reservation Mode before leaving your vehicle. The purpose of
Reservation Mode is to leave the transmission gear in the neutral position when you leave
your vehicle. Reservation mode is intended for use on MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS ONLY
and NOT FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. Reservation Mode must be engaged
each and every time you leave your manual transmission vehicle in order to auto-start it.
Note : The system is not recommended for manual transmission vehicles with

If you do not want to set reservation mode, shut off the engine before you exit the
vehicle. The engine will shut off for the following reasons :
You did not activate the parking brake or pressed the foot brake when you turned
the manual key to the off position.
You released the parking brake while the engine was running.
You entered Valet Mode after the Reservation Mode has been completed.

ENGINE OFF, place the transmission in the Neutral position.
Activate the parking brake.
Remove your foot from the foot brake.
Remove the key from the ignition, and the engine will remain running.
Exit the vehicle and close the door within two minutes after activating
the parking brake. The engine will shut off and reservation mode for
the remote starter is now complete.

Press the
button until the LED on the remote stops flashing, in order to unlock
and release your trunk door. If pressing the trunk release button does not release
the trunk, you will need to release the button and try again, as the remote stops
transmitting as soon as the LED stops flashing.
Note that the trunk release function will not only release the trunk but will unlock the
all doors as well.
Panic Mode
Press the
button for 3.5 seconds to enter Panic Mode. In this mode, the car
will arm, if not armed already, and the siren/horn will activate and the parking lights will flash.
In order to disengage Panic Mode, press the
button until the LED stops flashing.
Then, press the button
for a 1/2 second to unlock/ disarm your vehicle.

If the Anti-Jacking option has been programmed (ask your dealer if you would like
to have this option) and the Ignition-Kill has been installed , the Panic Mode works
as Anti-Jacking if the key is in the ignition. If Anti-Jacking mode is activated while key
is in the ignition, a) the siren will go off for 1.5 minutes, and b) the Ignition-Kill
will be activated after the first 30 seconds. This is to give a 30 second
warning to the hijacker, then to disconnect the ignition to stop the vehicle.
Safety Shut Down Features
The Young Shin Electronics, Inc R1800 system has several shut down safety
features. The following actions will shut down the engine or prevent the car from
auto-starting : Opening the hood, pressing the brake, or if valet mode is turned on.
OPTIONAL PROGRAMMABLE FEATURES
Valet Mode
While the vehicle is in valet mode, the only features that will function will be the keyless
entry and optional auxiliary functions.
In order to enter Valet mode, press the
buttons simultaneously for a 1/2
second. In order to manually enter Valet Mode, insert your key into the ignition and turn
five times within 7 seconds

You can exit Valet Mode only by pressing buttons
simultaneously for 1/2 second.
These additional features may be programmed to the Young Shin Electronics, Inc.
system by your authorized Young Shin Electronics, Inc dealer.
Ignition Lock
This progammable option will automatically lock the vehicle doors once the key is in the
ignition and the brake pedal is pressed. The doors will unlock as soon as the key is
removed from the ignition.

emergency brake is set while the vehicle is running with the key.
Timer Start Mode
Passive Locking
In Timer Start Mode, your car automatically starts every 1.5 or 3.0 hours, depending on
preset options during the time of installation, for a 24-hour period. This mode is cancelled
automatically after 24 hours or once you start your vehicle with the key or remote. In order
to enter Timer Start Mode, press the
buttons simultaneously for a 1/2 second.
Please note : Timer Start Mode becomes

Important! Never start and run the vehicle in an enclosed space such as
a garage or carport.

You can turn this function on or off by pressing the

after all the doors/ hatch have been closed.

In this mode, if the emergency brake has been engaged, the engine will continue to run
after the key has been taken out of the ignition. It will run until two minutes after the
emergency brake has been set.
To utilize this mode, the emergency brake sensing wire has to be connected to the
emergency brake wire of the vehicle. Consult the authorized dealer for this mode.
This option is ideal for turbo charged vehicles because it allows the turbo to cool down
after operation.
OPTIONAL INSTALLATION FEATURES
The Young Shin Electronics, Inc R1800 remote has additional features and
expansion possibilities that require additional parts and labor.
Cold Start Mode
Timer Start Mode
becomes Cold Start Mode. In this mode, your car automatically starts if the temperature of the inside of the vehicle goes below the preset temperature.
The minimum interval between the starts will be 1.5 or 3.0 hours depending on
preset options during the time of installation. Cold Start Mode is activated or
deactivated by pressing Buttons
for a 1/2 second.
Optional Auxiliary 1 & Auxiliary 2
The auxiliary system is an optional feature that can be tailored for your vehicle
by your local authorized Young Shin Electronics, Inc dealership. For example, you
can customize your car to have remote power control of your windows, radio, and
sunroof in addition to the rooftop on your convertible car.
