Welcome
Your F450
Thank you for choosing F450 digital mobile phone. F450 can works in both CDMA and GSM
networks, so you can make calls and send messages or emails while travelling or roaming.
To guarantee this mobile phone is always in its best condition, please read this manual carefully
and keep it for future reference. To ensure your safety, read the section: For Your Safety
thoroughly before using this phone for the first time.
Note: The pictures and icons presented in this manual are meant for illustrative purposes only
and may not accurately represent the actual pictures and icons found on the phone. Your phone
contains the most up to date information.
Phone Overview

1. Earpiece: Allows you to hear the caller.
2. LCD Screen: Displays all the information needed to operate your phone.
3. Left Soft Key: Press to display the Messaging menu or access the function listed above the
key.
4. Send Key: Press to make or receive a call. From idle mode, press to access the All Calls list.
5. Speakerphone Key: Press to activate or deactivate the speakerphone.
6. Music Key: Press to display the My Music menu from idle mode.
7. Voicemail Key: Press and hold to dial your voicemail from idle mode.
8. Vibration Mode Key: Press and hold to turn the vibration mode on or off from idle mode.
9. Lock Key: Press and hold to lock the keypad from idle mode.
10. Message Key: Press to open a new text message from idle mode.
11. OK Key: Allows you to access the menu screen. It also allows you to accept choices when
navigating through a menu.
12. CLR Key: Delete characters or entire words during text entry mode. Press to return to the
previous menu or screen.
13. End/Power Key: Press to end calls or close applications. Press and hold to power your
phone on or off.
14. Right Soft Key: Press to display the Contacts List or access the function listed above the
key.
15. Directional Key: Allows you to scroll through phone menu options and provides a shortcut to
phone functions from idle mode.
16. Accessory/USB Charger Port: Connects the phone to the Wall Charger, or other
compatible accessories.
17. Camera Key: Press to access camera viewfinder mode or to take a picture.
18. Wrist Strap Eyelet: Attach a strap (not included).
19. Flash Lamp: The flash lamp for picture taking.
20. External Speaker: Allows you to listen to music, sounds or ringtones.
21. Camera Lens: The lens of your built-in camera.
22. 3.5mm Headset Jack: Plug in an optional headset for convenient and hands-free
conversations or music playback.
23. Volume Keys: Allows you to adjust the master volume or the earpiece volume during a call.
24. Voice Commands Key: Press to launch Voice Commands from idle mode.

Getting Started
Installing the Battery
1. Remove the back cover.
2. Insert the battery by aligning the gold contacts on the battery with the gold contacts in the
battery compartment.
3. Push the battery down so it clicks into place.
4. Replace the back cover.
Removing the Battery
Turn off your phone before removing the battery.
1. Remove the back cover.
2. Pull the battery up and out.

Charging the Battery
Please charge the battery according to the following procedure.
1. Connect the USB data cable into the cableless wall adapter.
2. Open the USB Charger Port cover and plug the USB data cable, making sure it’s inserted the
right way round. Don’t try and force it in.
3. Plug the wall adapter end into an electrical outlet.
Note: When not using the battery for a long time, remove it from the phone and store in a cool dry
place.
Inserting and Removing the SIM Card
Your wireless device comes with a SIM card installed which along with a Global Feature on your
account, enables you to make calls and access email in GSM Networks while traveling overseas.
Make sure the phone is turned off and the charger is disconnected.
1. Remove the back cover.
2. If the battery is already inside, take it out.
3. Hold your SIM card with the cut corner as shown below. Then slide it into the slot.
4. Replace the battery.
5. Replace the back cover.
To remove the SIM card, slide it out of the slot.

CAUTION:
Do not bend, scratch, or unnecessarily touch the SIM card’s metal surface. It may damage
the information stored in it.
Inserting and Removing the microSD Card
Your phone supports microSD cards up to 8GB. You can store music, pictures, and other files on
the microSD card.
microSD logo is a trademark of the SD Card Association.
1. Remove the back cover.
2. Insert the microSD card carefully with the metal contacts facing downwards, until it is pushed
into the right position. As you can see, only part of the microSD card needs to be inserted into
the slot.
To remove the card, simply slide it out of the slot.
Powering On/Off Your Phone
To power on the phone, press and hold the End/Power Key until the LCD screen lights up.
Note: If the phone lock code has been activated, you need to enter the code to unlock the
phone. The default lock code is the last 4 digits of your phone number.
To power off the phone, press and hold the End Key until the display turns off.
Activating Your Phone
Please contact your service provider for more information.
Idle Mode
The start screen indicates that your device is in Idle Mode. Take the following start screen in
CDMA mode for example.

1. Signal strength: The strength of the signal received by the device is indicated by the number
of bars displayed.
2. Message: Press the Left Soft Key to select this option.
3. MENU: Press the OK Key to select this option.
4. Contacts: Press the Right Soft Key to select this option.
5. Location: Location information sharing mode.
6. Battery strength: Four bars indicate a fully charged battery.
Note: The start screen may vary if you change the default display settings.

Top Display Icons
Digital Signal Strength: Digital service is available. More bars indicate a stronger
signal.
1X Signal Strength: CDMA 1X service is available. More bars indicate a stronger
signal.
GSM Signal Strength: GSM service is available. More bars indicate a stronger signal.
GPRS Signal Strength: GPRS service is available. More bars indicate a stronger
signal.
Airplane Mode: Airplane Mode is on.
Roaming: The phone is outside the home service area and roaming.
SSL: Data communication is encrypted by the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption.
Voice Privacy: The Voice Privacy feature is active.
Data Call: Data call is in progress.
Dormant: Data call is in the dormant state. No data is being transmitted or received.
No Service: Your phone is outside the service area.
TTY: TTY mode is active.
Voice Call: A voice call is in progress.
E911: Global Positioning Service (GPS) location feature for 911 is enabled (for
emergency calls only).
Location On: Global Positioning Service (GPS) location feature is enabled (for location
and emergency calls).
Keypad Lock: The keypad is locked.

Bluetooth On: Bluetooth is turned on.
Bluetooth Connected: Your phone is paired with another Bluetooth device.
Bluetooth Active: Your phone is exchanging data with another Bluetooth device.
Battery Level: Indicates the battery level. More bars indicate stronger battery power.
Bottom Display Icons
All Sounds Off: All sounds are silenced including incoming call ringtone, message alert,
alarm sound and other alert sounds.
Alarm Only: Your phone only rings for the alarm sounds.
Vibrate On: Your phone vibrates for calls and alerts.
Speakerphone: The speakerphone mode is active.
Missed Calls: You have missed calls.
Message: You have a new message.
Calendar Appointment: You have an active calendar event.
Voicemail: You have new voicemail messages.
Alarm On: An alarm is set.

Note: The phone menu may change according to the current network mode, or whether the microSD
card or SIM card is inserted.
Basic Operation
Menu Navigation
Your phone can be customized via the menu. Each function can be accessed by scrolling with the
Directional Key or by pressing the number that corresponds with the menu item.
1. To access the menu, press the OK Key [MENU].
2. To scroll through the menu, press the Directional Key up, down, left or right, or press the
number that corresponds to the desired menu item.
3. To return to the previous page, press the CLR Key. To exit the current menu and return to
idle mode, press the End Key.
4. To access the Messaging menu, press the Left Soft Key [Message]. To access the
Contact List, press the Right Soft Key [Contacts].
Note: This manual assumes that the menu layout is set to Grid and the display theme is set to
VZW White, which are the default settings.
Locking/Unlocking Your Phone
To keep your phone from unauthorized use, you can lock the phone. The use of your phone is
restricted once the phone is locked. You can still make emergency calls when the phone is locked.
Locking Your Phone
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Phone Settings > Phone Security.
2. Enter the phone lock code and press the OK Key. The default lock code is the last 4 digits of
your phone number.
3. Select Lock Phone Now and press the OK Key.
Tip: You can choose to make the phone locked automatically when you power it on. For detailed
information, see “Phone Lock Setting” on page xx.

Unlocking Your Phone
1. Press the Right Soft Key [Unlock] from idle mode.
2. Enter the phone lock code and press the OK Key.
Locking/Unlocking the Keypad
To lock the keypad, press and hold the Lock Key from idle mode.
To unlock the keypad, press the Right Soft Key and then press the OK Key.
Tip: You can choose to make the keypad locked automatically when the backlight goes off.
Just press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Phone Settings > Auto Key lock, and
select On.
Choosing the Network Mode
Your phone can work in both CDMA and GSM networks. You can use your phone in Global
Mode while travelling abroad. You must insert a SIM card into your phone to enable GSM Mode
and Global Mode. The SIM card is pre-installed in your phone. For more information, please
contact your service provider.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Phone Settings > Network Mode.
2. Select CDMA Mode, GSM Mode or Global Mode, and press the OK Key [SET].
Set-up Wizard
Set-up Wizard will guide you to set the most commonly used setting options. You can set your
phone quickly and easily.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Set-up Wizard.
2. Follow the prompts on the screen, and press the OK Key [SET] to set each option or press
the Right Soft Key [Skip] to skip setting the option.
Note: Press the CLR Key to go to the previous options and change the settings. Press the Left
Soft Key [Preview] or [Play] to view or play the option before setting it.
Easy Set-up
Easy Set-up will guide you to set the common sound or display setting options.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Sound Settings/Display Settings > Easy
Set-up.
2. Follow the prompts on the screen, and press the OK Key [SET] to set each sound or
display option or press the Right Soft Key [Skip] to skip setting the option.
Note: Press the CLR Key to go to the previous options and change the settings. Press the Left
Soft Key [Preview] or [Play] to view or play the option before setting it.

Entering Text
Your phone has a QWERTY keypad – a compact version of standard computer keyboard. Here’s
how it works…
For lowercase letters, simply press the keys as normal.
To enter a single uppercase letter, press and then press the corresponding key.
To enter all uppercase, press twice and then type. To change back to lowercase, press
again.
To type a number or symbol (found at the upper left or right of the key), press and then
press the corresponding keys. Press twice to enter all numbers or symbols. And then the
same again to go to normal type.
Press the Left Soft Key to change the input mode: T9 Word, alphabetic, or symbols.
To open the symbols, press . You can use the Directional Key and the OK Key to enter
a symbol or emoticon.
To move the cursor, use the Directional Key.
To delete the character before the cursor, press the CLR Key or . Hold the CLR Key or
to delete all characters before the cursor.
To start a new line, press .
To enter a space, press .
Tip:
For certain languages, pressing a specific letter key may result in multiple accented character
options (like á, ü, é, etc). Use the Directional Key and the OK Key to enter the character you
want.

Calling
Making a Call
Using the Keypad
1. Enter a phone number including full area code in idle mode. If an incorrect character is entered,
use the CLR Key to delete the digit. Press and hold the CLR Key to erase all digits.
2. Press the Send Key to make the voice call.
3. Press the End Key to end the call, or to cancel the call attempt.
Note: To make an emergency call, enter the emergency number and press the Send Key. If
possible, remain stationary and keep the line connected.
Using the Contacts
You can also make a call by choosing a record from your Contacts. To place a call from the
contact list:
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Contacts > Contact List to view your contact list.
Tip: Press the Right Soft Key [Contacts]. The list of names in your contacts is displayed
alphabetically.
2. Scroll to the desired entry and press the Send Key to make a call.
Note: Selecting the Contact entry and then pressing the Send Key will dial the Default Number
of the Contact entry automatically. If multiple numbers are saved in the Contact List, select the
Contact entry, then select the phone number you want to dial. Then press the Send Key.
Using the Last Number Dialed
Your phone can redial the last number dialed. To dial the last number:
1. Press the Send Key in idle mode.
2. Press the Send Key again to dial the first entry.
Using the Call History
Generally, all calls you have made or received are saved in a list on the phone.
You may use the Send Key as a shortcut key to the All Calls list from the idle screen.
All numbers are grouped into Missed Calls, Received Calls, and Dialed Calls. To dial a number
from your call history:
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Recent Calls.
2. Navigate through the menu and press the OK Key to select Missed, Received or Dialed calls.
3. Select the phone number you want to dial from the list and press the Send Key to place the
call.
Making an International Call
1. Press and hold the * Key in idle mode. The + required for international calls will be displayed.
2. Enter the country code, area code, and phone number then press the Send Key.
3. To end the call, press the End Key.
Caller ID Function
Caller ID displays the number of the person calling when your phone rings. If the caller’s identity is
stored in Contacts, the name appears on the screen. The caller ID is stored in the Recent Calls
Menu.

In-Call Options
Volume
1. Press the Volume Keys on the side of your phone up or down to adjust the volume.
2. Press the OK Key [SET] to confirm the setting.
Mute
You can mute your voice during a call by pressing the Left Soft Key [Mute]. Press the Left Soft
Key [Unmute] to allow the caller to hear your voice again.
Speakerphone
Your phone has a speakerphone function that allows you to talk hands-free with the phone’s
speaker.
During a call, press the Speakerphone Key to activate or deactivate speakerphone.
Call History
Press the OK Key [MENU] > Recent Calls to check missed, received, dialed and all call history.
Press the OK Key [MENU] > Recent Calls > View Timers to check detailed call time and data
information.

Contacts
New Contact
1. Enter the phone number you want to save in idle mode.
2. Press the Left Soft Key [Save].
3. Select Add New Contact and press the OK Key.
4. Select Mobile 1, Mobile 2, Home, Business or Fax and press the OK Key.
5. Enter the remaining contact information and press the OK Key [SAVE].
Note: You can also create a contact by pressing the OK Key [MENU] > Contacts > New
Contact.
Contact List
Contact List allows you to view the list of all contacts stored on your phone.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Contacts > Contact List.
2. Press the Directional Key to scroll up or down the list, and press the OK Key [VIEW] to view
the desired contact information.
3. Press the Left Soft Key [Edit] to edit the highlighted contact.
4. Press the Right Soft Key [Options] to display the following pop-up menu:
New Contact: Add a new contact.
Erase: Erase the contact.
New TXT Message: Send a text message to the contact.
New Picture Message: Send a picture message to the contact.
New Voice Message: Send a voice message to the contact.
Send IM: Set IM message to the contact.
Call: Make a call to the contact (Default number).
Move & Copy: Move or copy the contact between the phone and SIM card.
Manage Contacts: You can mark the desired contacts in the list to erase, lock or unlock.
The locked contacts cannot be erased. You can also copy the contacts to the microSD card.
Filter Contacts: Choose to view all contacts or the contacts in the phone or SIM card.
Send via Bluetooth: Send your name card via Bluetooth to another Bluetooth compatible
device.
Backup Assistant
Backup Assistant safeguards your mobile phone's address book and automatically saves a copy
of the names, phone numbers, and email addresses stored in your phone. You can also view,
print, add, delete, and edit your contacts online.
If you lose, damage, or upgrade your phone, Backup Assistant will restore your contact list to a
new or replacement phone.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Contacts > Backup Assistant.
2. Follow the on-screen directions to continue.
Groups
This menu allows you to add contacts to the groups. You can add, rename, delete the groups or
send a message to each contact in the selected group.
1. Press the Right Soft Key [Contacts], and then select the contact you want to add to a group.
2. Press the Left Soft Key [Edit].
3. Scroll to the Group field and press the Left Soft Key [Edit].

4. Select either Business, Colleagues, Family, Friends, Personal or School, press the OK
Key [MARK], then press the Left Soft Key [Done].
5. To create a new group, press the Right Soft Key [New]. Enter the group name and press the
OK Key [SAVE].
6. Enter the remaining contact information then press the OK Key [SAVE].
Speed Dials
Speed Dials allows you to view the current list of speed dials and add new entries.
1. Press the Right Soft Key [Contacts], then select the contact you want to set speed dial to.
2. Press the Left Soft Key [Edit].
3. Select the phone number you want to add to Speed Dial and press the Right Soft Key
[Options].
4. Select Set Speed Dial and press the OK Key, choose a Speed Dial location then press the OK
Key [SET].
5. To assign the entry select Yes then press the OK Key.
6. Press the OK Key [SAVE] to save.
In Case of Emergency
This feature allows you to store names, phone numbers and other information, which may be
very helpful in case of emergency. It also allows you to add, read, edit, or erase Personal Info
(in the form of Notes) which may also be useful in cases of emergencies.
Adding an ICE Contact
1. Press the OK Key [MENU], select Contacts and press the OK Key. Select In Case of
Emergency and press the OK Key.
2. Select Contact 1, Contact 2 or Contact 3 and press the OK Key [ADD].
3. When selecting from ADD CONTACT, select From Contacts and press the OK Key.
4. Select the desired contact entry and press the OK Key.
5. When adding a new contact, select New Contact and press the OK Key.
6. Enter the contact information and press the OK Key [SAVE].
7. The contact name will be displayed in place of Contact 1, Contact 2 or Contact 3.
Adding ICE Personal Info
1. Press the OK Key [MENU], select Contacts and press the OK Key. Select In Case of
Emergency then press the OK Key.
2. Select Personal Info and press the OK Key [VIEW].
3. Select Note 1, Note 2 or Note 3 and press the OK Key [ADD].
4. Enter the information and press the OK Key [SAVE].
5. The information you entered now appears in place of Note 1, Note 2 or Note 3.
My Name Card
This feature allows you to add your personal contact information including name, phone number,
Email, etc. as a name card.
Editing My Name Card
1. Press the OK Key [MENU], select Contacts and press the OK Key. Select My Name Card
then press the OK Key.
2. Press the OK Key [EDIT].
3. Under EDIT CONTACT, adjust the fields as desired and press the OK Key [SAVE] to save
your changes.

Creating and Sending a Text Message
1. Press the Left Soft Key [Message] in idle mode, select New Message and press the OK
Key. Select TXT Message and press the OK Key.
Note: You can also press the OK Key [MENU] > Messaging > New Message > TXT
Message and press the OK Key.
2. In the To field, enter the phone number of the recipient and press the OK Key.
3. Enter the message and press the OK Key [SEND].
Editing the To field
In the To field, press the Right Soft Key [Add] to display the pop-up menu:
From Contacts: Add the recipient from the contact list.
Recent Calls: Add the recipient from the recent calls list.
Groups: Add the recipient from the group list.
To Contacts: If a phone number or email address is entered in the field, add it to a new
contact, or update an existing contact with it.
Editing the Text field
In the Text field, press the Right Soft Key [Options] to display the pop-up menu:
Insert Quick Text: Insert already written sentences into the message.
Save as Draft: Save the current message into the Drafts folder.
Add: Add Graphic, Animation, Sound, Signature or Name Card into the message.
Format Text: Change the Alignment, Font Size, Font Style, Text Color or
Background Color of the text.
Priority Level: Set the priority level of the message to High or Normal.
Cancel Message: Cancel the message editing and go back to the previous menu.
Creating and Sending a Picture Message
1. Press the Left Soft Key [Message], select New Message and press the OK Key. Select
Picture Message and press the OK Key.
Note: You can also press the OK Key [MENU] > Messaging > New Message > Picture
Message.
2. In the To field, enter the phone number or email address of the recipient and press the OK
Key.
3. Press the Directional Key down and enter the message in the Text field.
4. Press the Directional Key down to highlight the Picture field, press the Left Soft Key [My
Pics] to select a picture from the MY PICTURES folder, and then press the OK Key to add a
picture.
5. Press the Directional Key down to highlight the Sound field, press the Left Soft Key
[Sounds] and select a sound from the MY SOUNDS folder or record a new sound, and then
press the OK Key to add a sound record.
6. Press the Directional Key down to highlight the Name Card field. Press the Left Soft Key
[Add] to select a name card From Contacts or select My Name Card, and then press the
OK Key to add a name card.
7. Press the Directional Key down to highlight the Subject field and enter the subject.
8. Press the OK Key [SEND] to send the message.

Creating and Sending a Voice Message
1. Press the Left Soft Key [Message], select New Message and press the OK Key. Select
Voice Message and press the OK Key.
Note: You can also press the OK Key [MENU] > Messaging > New Message > Voice
Message.
2. To record a new Voice Message, press the OK Key to start recording. Press the OK Key
[STOP] to stop recording and insert the recorded voice memo into the message.
3. Enter the phone number or email address of the recipient and press the OK Key. Or press
the Right Soft Key [Add] to access the following options.
From Contacts: Search for a phone number which is stored in the contacts list.
Recent Calls: Search for a phone number which is stored in the recent calls list.
Groups: Search the groups stored in the contacts list.
To Contacts: If a phone number or email address is entered in the field, add it to a new
contact, or update an existing contact with it.
4. Press the Directional Key down to access the Text field and enter the message.
5. Press the Directional Key down to access the Name Card field. Press the Left Soft Key [Add]
and select My Name Card or From Contacts and press the OK Key. Select the card or the
contact and press the OK Key.
6. Press the Directional Key down to access the Subject field and enter the subject.
7. Press the Right Soft Key [Options] to access the following options.
Review: Review a written Voice Message.
Save As Draft: Save the Voice Message.
Insert Quick Text: Insert already written sentences into the message.
Priority Level: Set the level of the priority to High or Normal.
Remove Recording: Remove inserted recorded voice memo in the Voice field.
Remove Name Card: Remove inserted name card in the Name Card field.
Cancel Message: Cancel the message editing and go back to the previous menu.
8. Press the OK Key [SEND].
Message Folders
1. The Inbox folder contains all of your received messages. In this folder, you can view your
received messages by receipt time and reply to or forward the messages to another recipient.
2. The Messages folder contains all of your sent and received messages. All messages sent to
or received from a contact are grouped in the combined Messages folder. You can view the
messages by contacts.
3. The Sent folder contains messages that were sent successfully. In this folder, you can edit or
forward the messages to another recipient.
4. The Drafts folder contains unfinished messages. In this folder, you can complete and send
your messages.
Voicemail
When the Voicemail function is available, all unanswered calls to your phone can be transferred to
your voice mailbox, even if your phone is not being used or is powered off. You should set up your
voice mailbox and personal greeting as soon as your phone is activated. For more information,
contact your service provider.
Checking your voicemail box
1. To dial your voicemail box directly, enter *86 in idle mode and then press the Send Key.
Tip: In idle mode, press and hold 1 to access Voicemail.
2. Follow the prompts to enter your password and listen to your messages.

Press the OK Key [MENU] > Messaging > Mobile IM.
Social Beat
Press the OK Key [MENU] > Messaging > Social Beat.
Mobile Email
Press the OK Key [MENU] > Messaging > Mobile Email.
Messaging Settings
Press the Left Soft Key [Message] in idle mode and then press the Left Soft Key [Settings].
Select one of the settings below and press the OK Key to select it.
Inbox View
Set to sort the messages in your inbox by Time or Contact. Choose the desired setting
and press the OK Key.
Inbox view by Time: The received and sent messages are separated into Inbox and Sent
folders. You can view the message by receipt time.
Inbox view by Contact: All messages sent to or received from a contact are grouped in
the Messages folder. You can view your messages by recipient.
Entry Mode
Set the default input mode, choose either T9 Word, Abc or ABC and press the OK Key.
Auto Save Sent
Select On, Off or Prompt and press the OK Key.
On: All sent messages are saved in the Sent box.
Off: Messages will not be saved in the Sent box.
Prompt: Dialogue box will display after a message is sent.
Auto Erase Inbox
Select On or Off and press the OK Key.
On: The oldest read unlocked message is erased from the Inbox automatically when the
Inbox is full and a new message arrives.
Off: The phone will prompt that the memory is full and you need to delete unwanted
messages when the Inbox is full and a new message arrives.
Messaging Font Size
Select Normal or Large and press the OK Key.
TXT Auto View
Select On or Off and press the OK Key.
On: When a new TXT message arrives, it is displayed automatically.
Off: When a new TXT message arrives, you should enter the Inbox or respond to the new
message notification to view it.
Multimedia Auto Receive
Select On or Off and press the OK Key.
On: Picture/Voice messages download automatically.
Off: Picture/Voice messages must be retrieved from the Inbox or at the new Picture/Voice
message prompt.
Quick Text
Create a new quick text or edit the quick text you have saved.
Voicemail #

Enter a new voicemail number or edit the voicemail number and press the OK Key (the
default number is *86).
Callback #
Edit the default callback number so that the recipient can call back or reply.
Signature
Create a signature that can be inserted at the end of a TXT, Picture or Voice Message.
Delivery Receipt
Turn on or off the delivery receipt for sent messages.
Media Center
Bing Search
The Search function allows you to get free maps and local business listings right on your phone
when you need them. Quickly find nearby services. Local restaurants, movie theaters,
businesses and directions to get there are at your fingertips with BingTM for mobile.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU], select Media Center and press the OK Key. Select Search and
press the OK Key to access the Search function.
2. Enter your search information in the Enter Keywords text box and press the OK Key.
My Music
Playing Music
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Media Center > Music & Tones > My Music.
2. Select All Songs, Playlists, Artists, Genres or Albums and choose a song to play.
3. In the music player, you can:
Press the OK Key to pause or continue the playing.
Press the Directional Key left or right to skip to the previous or next audio file.
Press and hold the Directional Key left or right to rewind or fast forward.
Press the Directional Key up or down to open the playlist.
Press the Volume Keys to adjust the volume.
Press the Left Soft Key to mute/unmute the playing.
Managing My Music
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Media Center > Music & Tones > My Music.
2. Select Manage My Music and press the OK Key.
3. You can choose to erase, lock/unlock the music files, or move the music files between the
phone and microSD card.
My Ringtones
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Media Center > Music & Tones > My Ringtones.
2. Highlight a ringtone and press the OK Key [PLAY] to listen.
3. For preloaded ringtones, press the Right Soft Key [Info] to view the detailed information of
ringtone.
For downloaded ringtones, press the Right Soft Key [Options] to display more options.
My Sounds
To record a new sound
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Media Center > Music & Tones > My Sounds.
2. Press the OK Key [Record New].
3. Press the OK Key to start recording and press the OK Key [STOP] to stop recording.

2. Highlight a sound file and press the OK Key [PLAY] to play it.
Taking a Picture
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Media Center > Pictures > Take Picture.
2. Press the Directional Key up or down to adjust the brightness. Press the Directional Key left
or right to zoom in and out (except for the 1600X1200 resolution mode).
3. Press the Right Soft Key [Options] to set the camera options.
4. Press the OK Key [TAKE] or the Camera Key to take a picture.
5. Press the Left Soft Key [Save] to save the picture in the My Pictures folder.
6. Press the Right Soft Key [Erase] to delete it.
7. Press the OK Key [SEND] to send it via picture message.
Viewing the Pictures
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Media Center > Pictures > My Pictures.
2. Highlight a picture, press the OK Key [VIEW] to view it.
3. Highlight a picture, press the Left Soft Key [Erase], select Yes and press the OK Key to
delete the picture.
4. Press the Right Soft Key [Options] to display the pop-up menu:
Send: Send the picture via Picture Message, To Online Album, or Via Bluetooth.
Set As: Set the picture as Wallpaper or a Picture ID.
Take picture: Turns on the camera function allowing the user to take a new picture.
Manage Pictures: Erase, lock or unlock the pictures
Rename: Rename the picture.
File Info: View detailed information about the picture.
Note: You cannot erase or rename the preloaded pictures stored in My Pictures.
Online Album
Press the OK Key [MENU] >Media Center >Pictures > Online Album. The browser launches
and the Online Album sign-on screen appears. Follow the on-screen prompts to continue.
Mobile Web
Press the OK Key [MENU] > Media Center > Mobile Web to launch the web browser.
Apps
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Apps.
2. Choose a catalog and select Get It Now to download your desired contents.

VZ Navigator
The VZ Navigator allows you to get directions to locations when you're out and about. Using
audible turn-by-turn directions, you can locate nearly fourteen million points of interest in the
U.S.A. such as landmarks, restaurants and ATMs. VZ Navigator uses GPS positioning to tell you
where you are, what's near you and to give you directions to places, quickly and easily.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > VZ Navigator.
2. Follow the on-screen prompts to continue.
Note: To use VZ Navigator, you should turn location on by pressing the OK Key [MENU] >
Settings & Tools > Phone Settings> Location > Location On and press the OK Key [SET].

Bluetooth®
Your phone is capable of connecting to a variety of Bluetooth wireless accessories. It allows
you to transfer data between Bluetooth devices, talk with a Bluetooth wireless earphone, etc.
You may create and store 25 pairings within the phone and connect to one device at a time. The
approximate range for Bluetooth wireless technology is up to 30 feet (10 meters).
The Bluetooth menu allows you to search for Bluetooth wireless devices, and manage devices
that have already been paired with your phone.
Turning Bluetooth On/Off
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Bluetooth Menu.
2. Press the Left Soft Key [Turn On] to turn Bluetooth on. Press the Left Soft Key [Turn Off]
to turn it off.
Adding New Device
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Bluetooth Menu > Add New Device to
find a new compatible device.
2. If Bluetooth is off, you will be prompted to enable Bluetooth. Select Yes and press the OK
Key to enable Bluetooth.
3. The phone will prompt you to place the device you are connecting to in discoverable mode.
Press the OK Key to continue.
4. The phone will start to search for the device and the found Bluetooth devices will be
displayed in a list. Highlight the Bluetooth device to be paired to and press the OK Key
[PAIR].
5. The phone will prompt you for the passkey (if matching codes are not found). Consult the
Bluetooth® accessory instructions for the appropriate passkey (typically "0000" - 4 zeroes).
Enter the passkey and press the OK Key [SET].
6. Highlight Always Ask or Always Connect and press the OK Key to set Incoming Security
option for the device.
7. Once paired, you will see the device in the Bluetooth menu.
Note: It is recommended that the pairing process be performed at a secure location.
When pairing with devices that do not have a predefined passkey, you can input 1 to 16
characters for the passkey. It is recommended that at least 8 characters be used for the passkey.
Tools
Voice Commands
Voice Commands is advanced voice recognition software that can be used to activate a wide
variety of functions on your phone.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Tools > Voice Commands to access the
function.
2. The phone displays the Voice Commands menu and prompts you to say the following name of
the command you want to use. To complete your task, simply follow the voice prompts.
Call <Name or #>
To make a call, say “Call” and the command system will prompt you for the name or phone
number. You can state the name and number type of the contact (for example, “Call John
Work”) to access the contact’s phone number directly.
When using the Call command, speak clearly and say the name exactly as it is entered in
our contact list.
Send <MSG Type >
To create a message, say “Send” and the command system will prompt you for the type of

message. After choosing the message type, you will be prompted for the contact name,
number or group. You can say a full-sentence command, which states the message type
and the name or number of the contact (for example, “Send Text Message to Bob Smith”),
and the voice command system will automatically start a text message. If the name has
more than one number, the system will prompt you for the number type.
When using the Send command, speak clearly and say the name, number, or group
exactly as it is entered in your contact list.
Go To <Menu>
To access a menu within the phone, say “Go to” command. For example, “Go to Calendar”.
If no menu option is stated, a list of options will be provided.
Check <Item>
Say “Check” and the command system allows you to check out device information including
Status, Voicemail, Messages, Missed Calls, Time, Signal Strength, Battery, Volume,
Balance, Minutes, Payment and My Number.
Contact <Name>
Say “Contact” and the command system will allow you to look up a contact. For example,
stating “Contact Bob Smith” will display all the detailed information of that contact. You will
also be prompted to call, modify or erase the contact.
When using the Contact command, speak clearly and say the name exactly as it is entered
in your contact list.
Search
The “Search” command starts an application that allows you to search for information over
the internet. Enter your search text and press the OK Key.
Redial
To make a call to the last number that you called, say “Redial”.
Play <Playlist>
The Play command allows you to play all your songs by stating “Play all songs”.
My Verizon
The “My Verizon” command allows you to check out the detailed information about your
Verizon Wireless account.
Help
The “Help” command allows you to view a general guideline about using Voice Commands.
Note: Each function has its detailed information on the phone and you can press the Left Soft
key [Info] to view it.
If you are frequently prompted to repeat a command, press the Right Soft Key [Settings] >
Adaptation, and adapt the system to your voice.
Setting the Voice Commands
1. Press and hold the CLR Key to access Voice Commands.
2. Press the Right Soft Key [Settings] to display the following options.
Confirmation
This option allows you to choose if the Command System prompts you with a list of
potential matches. Select one of the following options and press the OK Key:
Automatic: The voice commands system will display a list only when there are
alternative matches.
Always Confirm: The voice commands system will always present you with a best match
list of names or numbers. When multiple matches are found, the system will prompt you
to choose from a list of matches.
Never Confirm: The voice commands system will select the best match.
Sensitivity
This option controls how the system filters for matches. Select one of the following

options and press the OK Key:
More Sensitive: The voice commands system will increase the sensitivity and displays
more potential matches.
Recommended: The voice commands system will control the sensitivity automatically.
Less Sensitive: The voice commands system will decrease the sensitivity to filter out
more potential matches. If you are frequently asked to try again, select More Sensitive.
Adaptation
Adaptation is the process of optimizing the voice recognition software to your voice.
Adaptation requires recording your voice, which is then used to customize the voice
recognition system.
1. Select Adapt Voice or Reset Voice and press the OK Key.
Adapt Voice: Requires that you make recordings of your voice to customize the voice
recognitions system. It will take a few minutes.
Reset Voice: Once you finish the adaptation process, you can reset the adaptation to the
factory default settings. The Reset Voice menu option only appears after you finish the
Adapt Voice process.
2. Press the OK Key to begin.
3. Wait for the beep and then repeat the sentences using a normal tone of voice.
4. When you are finished with a full session, you will reach a screen that reads Adaptation
Complete.
Note: Adaptation will take a few minutes, and you should be in a quiet environment.
Prompts
Select Mode or Audio playback and press the OK Key.
Mode: Select the Voice Commands system mode from the following:
Prompts: Read out Voice Commands prompts.
Read Out + Alerts: Read out and Alert tone prompts, dialing digits and menus at the
same time.
Read Out: Read out prompts, dialing digits and menus.
Tones Only: Prompts you with a tone only.
Audio playback: Allows audio playback to play through the speakerphone or through the
earpiece. Select Speakerphone or Earpiece and press the OK Key.
Timeout: Allows you to control how long the system listens for a command before timing
out.

Calculator
Your mobile phone has a built-in calculator capable of performing simple mathematical
calculations.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Tools > Calculator.
2. Enter a number with the keypad.
3. If necessary, press the Right Soft Key [Operators] to insert ( , ), or Exponent.
4. Press the Directional Key to select a mathematical function (add, subtract, multiply or
divide).
5. Enter the next number with the keypad.
6. Press the OK Key to view the result. Press the Left Soft Key [Clear] to clear the inputs or
result.
Note: Press the * Key to insert a decimal. Press the # Key to change the sign of a number to
negative.

Ez Tip Calculator
Ez tip calculator allows you to calculate the tip amount based on the tip rate and bill quickly and
easily.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Tools > Ez Tip Calculator.
2. From the Total bill field, enter the amount of the total bill.
3. Select the Tip(%) field and press the Directional Key left or right to adjust the tip percentage.
4. Select the Split field and press the Directional Key left or right to adjust the amount of people
paying.
5. In the area below, the calculator will automatically display the Tip, and the share of the bill
for each person.
6. Press the Left Soft Key [Reset] to reset.
7. Press the Right Soft Key [Close] to return to the previous screen.
Calendar
Calendar allows you to conveniently access and modify your agenda.
To add a new calendar event
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Tools > Calendar.
Shortcut: From idle mode, press the Directional Key down to access the Calendar.
2. Press the Directional Key up, down, left or right to highlight the date of the event.
3. Press the Left Soft Key [Add] to add a new event.
4. Enter the subject, scroll down and press the Left Soft Key [Set] to set other event settings
including Start & End Time, Start Date & End Date, Recurrence, Alert Time, Reminder, Alert
Tone and Vibrate.
5. Press the OK Key [SAVE] to save the new event.
Alarm Clock
The Alarm clock allows you to set up to three separate alarms.
To add a new alarm
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Tools > Alarm Clock.
2. Select an Alarm entry and press the OK Key to add a new alarm.
3. From the Turn On/Off field press the Left Soft Key [Set] to turn the alarm On or Off. Scroll
down to adjust the remaining settings, including Set Time, Repeat and Ringtone.
4. Press the OK Key [SAVE] to save the alarm.
Stop Watch
This feature allows you to use a stopwatch.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Tools > Stop Watch.
2. Press the OK Key [START] to start the stopwatch.
3. Press the Left Soft Key [Lap] to save lap times. Up to 20 lap times can be saved.
4. Press the OK Key [STOP] to stop the stopwatch.
5. After you’ve stopped the stopwatch, press the Right Soft Key [Reset] to clear the records.
World Clock
World clock displays the time in different time zones around the world, together with one or more
cities, states, regions or countries in each time zone.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Tools > World Clock.
2. Press the Right Soft Key [Cities] to open the Choose City menu, you may select from a list
of available cities.

3. Choose a city from the list, or search for the desired city in Go To field, and press the OK
Key to select.
4. The city will be set as the default city and time zone.
5. Press the Directional Key left or right to display different cities and time zones. Press the
Left Soft Key [DST] to enable or disable daylight savings time. Select Yes or No and press the
OK Key.
Notepad
This feature allows you to create, store and edit notes.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Tools> Notepad.
2. Press the Left Soft Key [Add] to add a new note.
3. Enter the note by using the keypad.
4. When the note is finished, press the OK Key [SAVE] to save it.
USB Mass Storage
1. Insert the microSD card into your phone and then connect your phone to the PC with a USB
data cable.
2. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Tools > USB Mass Storage.
3. The phone will be in USB mode and you can transfer data between the microSD card and
PC.
4. To exit the USB Mass Storage mode, press the OK Key [EXIT].
Settings
My Verizon
The My Verizon menu allows you to connect to the Verizon Wireless Mobile Web. You can check
your subscription information ranging from your payment plan to your software upgrade or
other available services.
Press the OK Key [MENU], select Settings & Tools and press the OK Key. Select My Verizon
and press the OK Key.
Master Volume
This feature allows you to set master volume of the phone.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Master Volume.
2. Adjust the volume by pressing the Directional Key either up or down.
3. Press the OK Key [SET] to save the setting. To check the ringtone’s volume, press the Left
Soft Key [Play].
Note: You can also press the Volume Keys to adjust master volume.
Sound Settings
Call Sounds
This option allows you to set how the phone alerts you for the incoming calls.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Sounds Settings > Call Sounds.
2. You can set the following options:
Call Ringtone
Call Vibrate
Caller ID Readout

Alert Sounds
This option allows you to select the alert type for different notifications.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Sounds Settings > Alert Sounds.
2. Select TXT Message, Multimedia Message, Voicemail and Missed Call by pressing the OK
Key. You can select Tone, Vibrate, or Reminder and press the OK Key. Select the
desired setting and press the OK Key [SET].
3. For Emergency Tone, you can set the following options by pressing the OK Key [SET].
Alert: The phone will play the emergency tone for emergency dialing except when the master
volume setting is set to Vibrate Only or All Sounds Off.
Vibrate: The phone will vibrate for emergency dialing instead of playing the emergency
tone.
Off: The phone will disable the emergency tone and vibration.
Note: If Emergency Tone is set to Alert and the master volume is set to Vibrate Only, the phone
will vibrate for emergency dialing. If the master volume is set to All Sounds Off, the phone will
not sound or vibrate for emergency dialing.
Keypad Volume
This option allows you to set the keypad volume.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Sounds Settings > Keypad Volume.
2. Press the Directional Key up or down to adjust the volume and press the OK Key [SET] to
save the setting.
Digit Dial Readout
If the feature is on, the phone will call out the numbers when you dial each digit.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Sounds Settings > Digit Dial Readout.
2. Select On or Off, and press the OK Key [SET].
Service Alerts
This option allows you to set the service alerts.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Sounds Settings > Service Alerts.
2. You can turn the alerts for the following options On or Off by pressing the OK Key [SET].
ERI: The phone will sound an alert when you go into service coverage areas if this option is
set On.
Minute Beep: The phone will alert you with a beep before the end of every minute during a
call if this option is set On.
Call Connect: The phone will alert you when the call is connected if this option is set On.
Software Update: The phone will alert you when a software update is completed if this
option is set On.
Power On/Off
This option allows you to set the sound on or off when the phone is powered on or off.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Sounds Settings > Power On/Off.
2. Select Power On or Power Off and press the OK Key.
3. Select On or Off and press the OK Key [SET].
Display Settings
Banner
This option allows you to add your own personalized greeting that displays on your phone's

screen in idle mode.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Display Settings > Banner.
2. Select from the following options and press the OK Key.
Personal Banner: Enter the text and choose the text color for the personal banner displayed
in idle mode by pressing the OK Key [SET].
ERI Banner: Set to display the ERI banner in idle mode or not by selecting On or Off and
pressing the OK Key [SET].
Backlight
This option allows you to set the backlight duration for the display screen and keypad.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Display Settings > Backlight.
2. Select from the following options and press the OK Key.
Display: Set the backlight duration for the main screen as 7 seconds, 15 seconds, 30
seconds, Always On or Power Save Mode. Highlight the desired setting and press the OK
Key [SET].
Keypad: Set the backlight duration for the keypad as 7 seconds, 15 seconds, 30 seconds,
Always On or Always Off. Highlight the desired setting and press the OK Key [SET].
Wallpaper
This option allows you to choose the background image displayed in idle mode.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Display Settings > Wallpaper.
2. Select My Pictures or Fun Animations and press the OK Key.
3. Highlight the desired image and press the Left Soft Key [Preview] to view it.
4. Press the OK Key to set it as wallpaper.
Display Themes
This option allows you to choose different themes for the phone's menus.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Display Settings > Display Themes.
2. Press the Right Soft Key [Help] to view the help information. Press the Left Soft Key
[Preview] to preview the highlighted display theme.
3. In the preview interface, press the Directional Key left or right to change the themes. Press
the Left Soft Key [List] to go back to the theme list.
4. Select either VZW White, Neon, or Rebirth in theme list or preview interface, and press the
OK Key [SET] to save the setting.
Main Menu Settings
This option allows you to set the main menu display. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings &
Tools > Display Settings > Main Menu Settings.
Menu Layout
Set the menu layout to Tab, List or Grid by pressing the OK Key [SET]. You can press the Left
Soft Key [Preview] to preview the menu layout.
Replace Menu Items
1. Select the item you want to replace and press the OK Key [EDIT].
2. Then select the item in the list you want to replace it with, and press the OK Key [SET].
3. Press the Left Soft Key [Done] to complete the setting.
Position Menu Items
1. Select the item you want to move and press the OK Key [MOVE].
2. Highlight the desired position using the Directional Key and press the OK Key [SWAP].
3. Press the Left Soft Key [Done] to complete the setting.

Reset Menu Settings
You can reset to the default main menu display by choosing from Menu Layout, Menu Items, Item
Positions or All and pressing the OK Key.
Dial Fonts
This option allows you to set the dial font size.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Display Settings > Dial Fonts.
2. Select Normal or Large Only for the dial fonts and press the OK Key [SET] to confirm.
Menu Font Type
This option allows you to set the menu font type.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Display Settings > Menu Font Type.
2. Select VZW Fonts, Nadianne, or Zemke and press the OK Key [SET] to confirm. The
default menu font type is VZW Fonts.
Menu Font Size
This option allows you to set the menu font size.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Display Settings > Menu Font Size.
2. Select Normal or Large and press the OK Key [SET] to confirm.
Clock Format
This option allows you to choose the clock format displayed in idle mode.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Display Settings > Clock Format.
2. Choose from the following options: Analog, Large Analog, Digital 12, Large Digital 12,
Digital 24, Large Digital 24 or Off.
3. Press the Left Soft Key [Preview] to view the clock format.
4. Press the OK Key [SET] to confirm the setting.
Phone Settings
Airplane Mode
When Airplane Mode is turned on, all wireless communications are disabled. You cannot use
your phone to place or receive calls. But when you make an emergency call: 911, the phone will
turn off Airplane Mode automatically and the outgoing call screen will display.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] >Settings & Tools >Phone Settings >Airplane Mode.
2. Select either On or Off, and press the OK Key [SET].
Setting Shortcuts
Setting My Shortcuts
This option allows you to assign applications to the MY SHORTCUTS menu.
To personalize the MY SHORTCUTS menu
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Phone Settings > Set Shortcuts > Set
My Shortcuts.
2. Select the shortcut you want to change, and press the OK Key [SET] to enter the available
applications list.
3. Press the Directional Key up or down to select an application for replacement and press
the OK Key to confirm.
Note: Press the Right Soft Key [Options] and select Reset Shortcut 1, 2, 3 or 4 and press the
OK Key. Select Yes and press the OK Key to reset.

Press the Right Soft Key [Options] and select Reset My Shortcuts and press the OK Key.
Select Yes and press the OK Key to reset all the shortcuts to the factory default.
Setting Directional Keys
This option allows you to set shortcuts to assign applications to the up, down and left
Directional Keys.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Phone Settings > Set Shortcuts > Set
Directional Keys.
2. Highlight the Directional Key you want to change, and press the OK Key [SET] to enter the
available applications list.
3. Press the Directional Key up or down to select an application for replacement and press the
OK Key to confirm.
Language
You can change the phone language between English and Spanish.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Phone Settings > Language.
2. Select English or Español and press the OK Key [SET] to confirm.
Location
This Global Positioning Service (GPS) location feature can identify your location to the network.
You can fully enable this GPS location function or set GPS to work only when you dial 911 from
your phone.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Phone Settings > Location.
2. Select one of the following options and press the OK Key [SET].
Location On: GPS location function is on wherever the feature is available.
E911 Only: GPS location function is on only when you dial 911.
Note: This feature is only available on the Verizon Wireless network.
Current Country
This option allows you to select your current location.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Phone Settings > Current Country.
2. Select your current country in the list and press the OK Key [SET] to confirm.
Note: To assure that your phone works properly while you travel to a different country, please
verify the country of your current location so the correct Country Code can be applied.
Phone Security
Edit Codes
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Phone Settings > Phone Security.
2. Enter the lock code and press the OK Key.
3. Select Edit Codes and press the OK Key.
4. Select Phone Only or Calls & Services and press the OK Key.
5. Enter the current lock code and press the OK Key if needed.
6. Enter the new lock code and press the OK Key.
7. Re-enter the new code for confirmation and press the OK Key.
Restrictions
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools> Phone Settings> Phone Security.
2. Enter the lock code and press the OK Key.
3. Select Restrictions and press the OK Key.
4. Enter the lock code and press the OK Key.

Phone Lock Setting
This option helps to keep your phone from unauthorized use. The use of your phone is restricted
once the phone is locked. You can still make emergency calls when the phone is locked.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Phone Settings > Phone Security.
2. Enter the lock code and press the OK Key.
3. Select Phone Lock Setting and press the OK Key.
4. Select one of the following options and press the OK Key [SET].
Unlocked: The phone is not locked whenever you power up the phone.
On Power Up: You need to enter the lock code whenever you power up your phone.
Lock Phone Now
Please refer to the section “Locking/Unlocking Your Phone” on page xx.
Restore Phone
This option allows you to permanently erase all user data and reset all settings to factory defaults.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Phone Settings > Phone Security.
2. Enter the lock code and press the OK Key.
3. Select Restore Phone and press the OK Key.
4. Select Yes and press the OK Key to continue. Select No and press the OK Key to return to
the previous menu.
5. Enter the lock code again and press the OK Key to restore the phone.
SIM Security
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Phone Settings > SIM Security.
2. Enter the lock code and press the OK Key.
3. Select PIN Code and press the OK Key.
4. Select PIN Lock to enable or disable the SIM PIN lock. Select Edit PIN Code to change the
SIM PIN code.
To unlock your SIM Card:
1. Select SIM Lock in the SIM Security menu and press the OK Key.
2. Select Unlocked. Enter the SIM unlock code and press the OK Key.
Network Mode
Please refer to the section “Choosing the Network Mode” on page xx.
System Select
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Phone Settings > System Select.
2. Choose CDMA Settings or GSM Settings, and select one of the following options.
Manual: Your phone is available for normal operation only in the home network.
Automatic: You can use your phone in the home or roaming network.
NAM Select
This option allows you to select the phone’s NAM (Number Assignment Module). Contact your
service provider for more information about the NAM.

Answer Options allows you to select the method for answering incoming calls.

Any Key: Calls are answered when any key is pressed.
Auto with Handsfree: Calls are answered automatically with 5 seconds delay.
3. Press the Left Soft Key [Done] to confirm the setting. The default setting is Slide Open.
Note: Auto with Handsfree is available when a headset is inserted into your phone.
Auto Retry
Auto Retry feature will automatically redial voice calls after a preset period of time.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Call Settings > Auto Retry.
2. Select 10, 30, 60 Seconds or Off and press the OK Key [SET].
TTY Mode
Your handset is a TTY compatible device. Simply connect the TTY equipment to the Earphone
Jack.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Call Settings > TTY Mode.
2. Select one of the following options and press the OK Key [SET].
TTY Full: Users who cannot talk or hear may use this setting to send and receive text
messages through TTY equipment.
TTY + Talk: Users who can talk, but cannot hear, may use this setting to talk through the
phone and receive responses via text messages.
TTY + Hear: Users who can hear, but cannot talk, may use this setting to listen to
conversation of the other party, and respond via text messages.
TTY Off: Users who can hear and speak may use this setting to disable TTY support.
One Touch Dial
This feature allows you to enable or disable the speed dial feature.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Call Settings > One Touch Dial.
2. Select On or Off and press the OK Key [SET] to confirm.
Voice Privacy
This feature allows you set additional voice privacy for calls.
Please contact your service provider to check the availability of the feature.

This feature allows easy dialing of international calls when you are roaming in another country.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Call Settings > Assisted Dialing.
2. Highlight Assisted Dialing, and press the Directional Key left or right to select On or Off.
3. Highlight Reference Country by pressing the Directional Key down, then press the Left
Soft Key [Set] and choose a country from a list of countries that support assisted dialing.
4. In the country list, press the Left Soft Key [Details] to view and edit the detailed information.
Press the OK Key to save it.
5. Press the OK Key again to complete the assisted dialing set-up.
Hearing Aid Mode
This phone supports HAC (Hearing Aid Compatibility) function. When you turn on the Hearing
Aid Mode and use a hearing aid with a Telecoil to answer the phone, it will help you hear more
clearly while speaking on the phone.
For more detailed information on HAC, please refer to the Section: For Your Safety – Turn on
the HAC Setting.
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Call Settings > Hearing Aid Mode.
2. Select On or Off and press the OK Key [SET] to confirm.
Data Manager
Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Data Manager.
Memory
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Memory.
2. You can choose to set the save options, view the phone and card memory, and lock/unlock
the memory card.
Phone Info
1. Press the OK Key [MENU] > Settings & Tools > Phone Info.
2. Select My Number and press the OK Key to view the Mobile Device Number and Mobile
Identification Number. Press the OK Key to return to the previous menu.
3. Select SW/HW Version and press the OK Key to view Software version, PRL version, ERI
version, Browser version, Media Center version, MSUI version, HW version, MEID,
Software Update Client and Warranty Date Code.
4. Select Icon Glossary and press the OK Key to view the list of icons with a brief description.
5. Select Software Update and press the OK Key. Select one of the following options and press
the OK Key.
Status: Check the status of your phone’s software.
Check New: Check for new software updates that you can download for your phone.
6. Select SIM ID to check your SIM card ID.

For Your Safety
General Care
Your handset contains delicate electronic circuitry, magnets and battery systems. You should
treat it with care and give particular attention to the following points:
Do not allow the handset, battery or accessories to come into contact with liquids or moisture
at any time. Do not immerse it in any liquid.
Do not place the handset alongside computer disks, credit cards, travel cards or other
magnetic media. The information contained on the disks or cards may be affected by the
handset.
Do not paint the handset.
Do not leave the handset or battery in places where the temperature could exceed 140 ˚F, e.g.
on a car dashboard or a windowsill, behind glass in direct sunlight, etc.
Do not remove the handset battery while the handset is switched on.
Take care not to allow metal objects, such as coins or key rings, to contact or short-circuit the
battery terminals.
Do not dispose of batteries in fire. The handset’s Li-ION batteries may be safely disposed of at
a Li-ION recycling point. Follow local requirements for recycling.
Do not put the handset’s battery in your mouth, as battery electrolytes may be toxic if
swallowed.
Do not disassemble or crush, bend or deform, puncture, or shred.
Do not modify or remanufacture, attempt to insert foreign objects into the battery, immerse or
expose to water or other liquids, expose to fire, explosion or other hazard.
Only use the battery for the system for which it is specified.
Only use the battery with a charging system that has been qualified by ZTE. Use of an
unqualified battery or charger may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage, or other hazard.
Do not short-circuit a battery or allow metallic conductive objects to contact battery terminals.
Replace the battery only with another battery that has been qualified with the system per this
standard, IEEE-Std-1725. Use of an unqualified battery may present a risk of fire,
explosion, leakage or other hazard.
Promptly dispose of used batteries in accordance with local regulations.
Battery usage by children should be supervised.
Avoid dropping the phone or battery. If the phone or battery is dropped, especially on a hard
surface, and the user suspects damage, take it to a service center for inspection.
Improper battery use may result in a fire, explosion, or other hazard.
The phone shall only be connected to products that bear the USB-IF logo or have completed
the USB-IF compliance program.
Do not put a battery into a microwave oven, dryer or high-pressure container.
Use only authorized chargers.
Do not puncture the battery with a sharp object such as a needle.
When the battery is disposed, be sure it is non-conducting by applying vinyl tape to the (+)
and (-) terminals.
Do not drop, throw, or subject the handset to rough treatment.
Stop using the battery if abnormal heat, odor, discoloration, deformation, or abnormal
condition is detected during use, charge or storage.
Do not use your handset with a damaged or deformed battery.
Do not solder the battery directly.
Remove the battery whose life cycle has expired from equipment immediately.
The earpiece may become warm during normal use. Also, the handset itself may become warm
while the battery is being charged.

When a handset is in vibration mode, the vibration may cause the handset to move.
Be careful not to place the handset near heat sources (such as a heater).
Use a damp or anti-static cloth to clean the handset. Do not use an ordinary dry cloth or
electrostatic cloth. Do not use chemical or abrasive cleaners as these could damage the
casing.
Third party equipment: The use of third party equipment, cables, or accessories, not made or
authorized by ZTE, may invalidate the warranty of your phone and also adversely affect the
phone’s safety and operation.
Remember to make backup copies of all important data on your handset.
Remember to recycle: The cardboard packing supplied with this handset is ideal for recycling.
Warnings: In the unlikely event of a battery leak, take care to keep the battery discharge away
from your eyes and skin. If the leakage does come into contact with the eyes or skin, flush
thoroughly with clean water and consult with a doctor.
Aircraft Safety
Switch off your phone or activate the airplane mode when inside or near an aircraft. Use of
handsets in an aircraft may be dangerous to the operation of the aircraft and may disrupt
the cellular network. Failure to observe this instruction may lead to suspension or denial of
phone service to the offender, or legal action, or both.
Airplane mode allows you to use many of your phone’s features, such as calculator, voice
memos, and many others when you are in an airplane or other area where wireless signals
may cause interference. In the airplane mode, you are prohibited from making or receiving
calls.
Hospital Safety
Switch off your phone and remove its battery in areas where handset use is prohibited.
Follow the instructions given by any respective medical facility regarding the use of cellular
handsets on their premises.
General Guidelines
Many jurisdictions have laws and regulations about taking pictures in public or private areas
regarding the processing and further use of such pictures. ZTE encourages its customers to
obey all laws and to honor the personal rights of others.
Check the roaming agreement availability with your network operator.
The use of mobile phones is not allowed in some radiation sensitive areas, such as hospitals,
research centers, and airplanes. The user is responsible for powering off the device. If there
is any uncertainty, the battery should be removed.
Observe any signs that indicate powering off your handset, such as those near gas stations
or explosives.
If you have a heart condition, be careful with the setting of call vibration or tone volume. This
phone is capable of producing loud noises which may damage your hearing. Turn down the
volume before using headphones, Bluetooth stereo headsets or other audio devices.
Do not allow children to play with the handset, charger or batteries.
The operation of some medical electronic devices, such as hearing aids and pacemakers,
may be affected if a handset is used next to them. Observe any caution signs and the
manufacturer’s recommendations.
Take care not to put your phone in the back pocket of your pants and then sit on the phone.
Also, do not put your phone at the bottom of a bag where it may be subject to excessive
weight or pressure as this may damage the LCD and cause them to malfunction.
The phone contains metal and may cause a reaction for overly sensitive skin types.
Do not leave the phone discharged or without a battery for a long period of time. Otherwise
some data may be erased.

Road Safety
You must exercise proper control of your vehicle at all times. Give your full attention to
driving.
Observe all of the recommendations contained in your local traffic safety documentation.
Pull off the road and park before making or answering a call, if driving conditions require so.
Check if local laws and/or regulations restrict the use of cellular phones while driving.
You must not stop on the hard shoulder of a motorway to answer or make a call, except in
emergency situations.
Switch off your handset at a refueling point, such as a gas station, even if you are not
refueling your own car.
Do not store or carry flammable or explosive materials in the same compartment as the
handset.
Electronic systems in a vehicle, such as anti-lock brakes, speed control and fuel injection
systems are not normally affected by radio transmissions. The manufacturer of such
equipment may advise if it is adequately shielded from radio transmissions. If you suspect
vehicle problems caused by the radio transmitter in the handset, consult your dealer and do
not switch on the handset until your handset has been checked by a qualified technician.
Vehicles Equipped With an Airbag
An airbag inflates with great force. Do not place objects, including either installed or portable
wireless equipment, in the area over the airbag or in the airbag deployment area. If in-vehicle
wireless equipment is improperly installed and the airbag inflates, serious injury could result.
Third Party Equipment
The use of third party equipment, cables or accessories, not made or authorized by ZTE, may
invalidate the warranty of the handset and also adversely affect the handset’s operation. For
example, use only the ZTE charger supplied with the handset.
Efficient Use
For optimum performance with minimum power consumption, do not cover the antenna area
(It’s on the bottom of your phone when you are holding it) with your hand. Covering the
antenna affects the call quality, may cause the handset to operate at higher power levels than
needed, and may shorten talk and standby times.
Radio Frequency (RF) Energy
This model phone meets the government’s requirements for exposure to radio waves.
This phone is designed and manufactured not to exceed the emission limits for exposure to
radio frequency (RF) energy set by the Federal Communications Commission of the U.S.
Government:
The exposure standard for wireless mobile phones employs a unit of measurement known as
the Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit set by the FCC is 1.6 W/kg. Tests for SAR
are conducted using standard operating positions accepted by the FCC with the phone
transmitting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands. Although the SAR
is determined at the highest certified power level, the actual SAR level of the phone while
operating can be well below the maximum value. This is because the phone is designed to
operate at multiple power levels so as to use only the power required to reach the network. In

Emergency Services
To make an emergency call in any country:
1. Ensure your phone is ON and in service.
2. Press the End Key as many times as needed to clear the display and ready the device for
calls.
3. Enter a local emergency number, i.e., 911.
4. Press the Send Key to dial the number. Follow instructions received and do not end the call
until told to do so.
IMPORTANT: Tell the operator which service you require: Police, Ambulance, Fire Engine,
Coastguard or Mountain Rescue Service. Give your position, and if possible, remain stationary
and maintain contact. Due to the nature of the cellular system, the connection of emergency calls
cannot be guaranteed. You should never rely on any wireless device for essential communication
such as medical emergencies.

Using Your Phone With a Hearing Aid Device

When some wireless phones are used near some hearing devices (hearing aids and cochlear
implants), users may detect a buzzing, humming, or whining noise. Some hearing devices are
more immune than others to this interference noise, and phones also vary in the amount of

interference they generate. The wireless telephone industry has developed ratings for some of
their mobile phones to assist hearing device users in finding phones that may be compatible with
their hearing devices. Not all phones have been rated. Phones that have been rated have a label
on the box. Your F450 has been tested for hearing aid device compatibility and has an M4 and/or
T4 rating.
These ratings are not guaranteed. Results will vary, depending on the level of immunity of your
hearing device and the degree of your hearing loss. If your hearing device happens to be
vulnerable to interference, you may not be able to use a rated phone successfully. Trying out the
phone with your hearing device is the best way to evaluate it for your personal needs.
M-Ratings: Phones rated M3 or M4 meet FCC requirements and are likely to generate less
interference with hearing devices than phones that are not labeled. M4 is the better/higher of
the two ratings.
T-Ratings: Phones rated T3 or T4 meet FCC requirements and are likely to be more usable with
a hearing device’s telecoil (“T Switch” or “Telephone Switch”) than unrated phones. T4 is the
better/higher of the two ratings. (Note that not all hearing devices contain telecoils.) The more
immune your hearing aid device is, the less likely you are to experience interference noise
from your wireless phone.
Hearing devices may also be measured for immunity to this type of interference. Your hearing

Turning on the HAC Setting
When the HAC setting is on, your F450 sends the audio from your phone calls to the telecoil rather
than to the microphone of your hearing aid. You are likely to hear calls much better because volume
is increased and background noise and feedback are diminished. The HAC setting improves only the
calls you listen to through the earpiece. It does not affect calls heard on the speakerphone or with a
headset. It’s better to turn off the Bluetooth function when the HAC setting is on. HAC requires extra
battery power, so watch your battery consumption when it's turned on.
CAUTION: Do not turn on the HAC setting unless you use a hearing aid with a telecoil. Using this
setting without a hearing aid or with a hearing aid without a telecoil may be harmful to your hearing.

Consumer Limited Warranty
ZTE ("Seller") offers you a limited warranty that the enclosed product or products (the "Product")
will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period that expires one year from the
date of sale of the Product to you, provided that you are the original end-user purchaser of the
Product and provided that your purchase was made from a supplier authorized by the Seller.
Transfer or resale of a Product will automatically terminate warranty coverage with respect to
that Product. This limited warranty is not transferable to any third party, including but not limited
to any subsequent purchaser or owner of the Product. This limited warranty is applicable only to
end users in the United States.
Seller will, at its sole and absolute discretion, either repair or replace a Product (which unit may
use refurbished parts of similar quality and functionality) if found by Seller to be defective in
material or workmanship, or if Seller determines that it is unable to repair or replace such Product,
Seller will refund the purchase price for such Product, provided that the subject Product (i) is
returned to a Seller authorized service center within the one year warranty period, and (ii) is
accompanied by a proof of purchase in the form of a bill of sale or receipted invoice which
evidences that the subject Product is within the one year warranty period. After the one year
warranty period, you must pay all shipping, parts and labor charges. In the event that the product
is deemed un-repairable or has been removed from the list of products supported by the Seller,
you will only be liable for shipping and labor charges.
This limited warranty does not cover and is void with respect to the following: (i) any Product
which has been improperly installed, repaired, maintained or modified; (ii) any Product which has
been subjected to misuse (including any Product used in conjunction with hardware electrically
or mechanically incompatible or used with accessories not approved by Seller), abuse, accident,
physical damage, abnormal operation, improper handling, neglect, exposure to fire or liquid; (iii)
any Product operated outside published maximum ratings; (iv) cosmetic damage; (v) any Product
on which warranty stickers or Product serial numbers have been removed, altered, or rendered
illegible; (vi) cost of installation, removal or reinstallation; (vii) signal reception problems (unless
caused by defects in material and workmanship); (viii) damage the result of fire, flood, acts of
God or other acts which are not the fault of Seller and which the Product is not specified to
tolerate, including damage caused by mishandling, shipping and blown fuses; (ix) consumables
(such as fuses); or (x) any Product which has been opened, repaired, modified or altered by
anyone other than Seller or a Seller authorized service center.
USE ONLY SELLER APPROVED ACCESSORIES WITH SELLER PHONES. USE OF ANY
UNAUTHORIZED ACCESSORIES MAY BE DANGEROUS AND WILL INVALIDATE THE
PHONE WARRANTY IF SAID ACCESSORIES CAUSE DAMAGE OR A DEFECT TO THE
PHONE.
SELLER SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS LIABILITY FOR ANY AND ALL DIRECT, INDIRECT,
SPECIAL, GENERAL, PUNITIVE, EXEMPLARY, AGGRAVATED, INCIDENTAL OR
CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH
DAMAGES, WHETHER FORESEEABLE OR UNFORESEEABLE OF ANY KIND
