CardReader / UserID Card
This guide sheet describes the usage and functionality of the UserID System CardReader
which is installed in the GSE. The usage is very similar on any type of GSE. The CardReader
is necessary for the log-on of a user to a vehicle with a special ID card. The usage of the
GSE equipped with the UserID System is only possible with a valid ID card.
The CardReader is usually visibly installed on the dashboard of the GSE.
1. Successful Access
1. Switch on the ignition – the red LED illuminates. The engine can NOT be started.
2. Swipe the IDCard over the CardReader on the dashboard (see picture)
3. The green LED starts blinking, firstly three times then it will be on permanently. The
engine can be started.
4. Start the engine.
Remark: After successful authentication you have a predefined number of seconds to start
the engine. If the engine is not started within this period of time after applying the card, steps
1 – 4 have to be repeated.
After stopping the engine, it can be restarted within a predefined number of seconds without
having to apply the ID card again. After that time the authentication procedure starts again
2. Denied Access
The access can be denied due to the following possible reasons:
1. Card defective
2. CardReader defective
3. No authorisation / authentication
If the authorisation is missing the red LED is blinking three times and the engine can
not be started.
In case of a denied access please contact your supervisor for clarification.
