Pressure Overview
What Is WYPIWYG?
The topic Oi this discussion is pointing modes.
CalComp provides two types of pointing modes:
WVPIWG mode (absolute on-somen tracking)
Mouse mode (relalive err-screen tracking)
WYPIWYG Mode
The WYFIWYG (more xou gain! is where ya go) polrlIrng made is 3:
Precision. absolute pointing mode, that maintains a direct relationship between the iablet and the screen.
In this mode, the tablet is “mapped' to the monltor screen. As a resuli, hand movement on the able! is minimized lo improve
productivity and precision.
For ample:
ll the pointing device is Iiitad and placed in the upper right corner or the anlet. the screen pointer moves tcl the upper right
comer oi the screen.
ll the pointing device is liked and placed in ma upper lett comer ol ma tablet. the screen pointer moves to the upper leit
corner of the screen.
ll you are accustomed to dragging the mining device (like a mouse}, you can still go to the position you desire but Wlthnut
having to "raw“ as with a common mechanical mouse.
Mouse Mode
The movement in the Mouse pointing made most closely approximates me movement mi a mechanical mouse. The Mouse
poinllng made is not 'mapped' to me monlicr screen. On-screerl tracking is relative. I’ll)! absolute.
For example:
If a pointing device is Iifled and placed at a dilierenl lmtion on [he tablet, the screen painter stays in its current location on
me screen.
The screen pointer only moves in a certain direction when the tablet pointing device is on the tablet and is moved in that
dlrecllorr.
In addition, the distance that me screen pointer moves on the screen is not directly related to the distance that the pointing
device moves on the lanlet.
Tips on using the pointing modes
Use the WYPIWVG mode lor precise control or (racing.
Use the Mouse mode for typical mouse'like control.
Make mode selection more accessible by assigning one oi me poinh‘ng device buttons to laggle between WYPIWVG
(absolute) mode and Mouse (relafive) mode
Use the Tuskgar §hgmgl lgon to change pomrlng modes,
Note: Certain pmgrams. such as graphics applications. automafically change the painting mode into WYPIWYG even though
the pointing mode has been set to Mouse mode. ll this is nol desired, disable the Allow Appllcaflon Override checkbox
for the deslred pointing device.
Note that some applications require WYPIWYG mode lor the tablet to operate properly, and that the Allow Application
Override checkbcx is not available lor the Digital Mouser
How to change the pointing mode
There are hm: poinlmg modes available [or the each pointing device:
Mouse (relaflve) mode
WYPIWVG (sesame) mode
The deraun for each pointing device are as (allows:
Digital Pen - WVPIWVG
Digital Mouse - Mouse
IS-bunon Mouse - WYPIWVG
Tc change modes for a poinling device, click on one of the mode buttons found in the lower left of me appropriate Buttons windaw.
A bunun on me pcmtmg device can also be assrgnsd lo toggle between the two modes. This rs highly recommended.
