Yamaha YC Series Supplementary Manual
Models: YC88, YC73, YC61
Document Type: Supplementary Manual (Version 1.10 Updates)
Introduction
This supplementary manual provides details on new functions, operability improvements, and updated sound lists for the Yamaha YC88, YC73, and YC61 stage keyboards, specifically addressing changes introduced with firmware version 1.10.
New Functions in YC Version 1.10
Yamaha has upgraded the YC firmware, introducing the following new features:
- The setting method for vibrato (CC # 1: Modulation) has been modified.
- Overall operability has been enhanced.
- New Live Set Sounds have been added to the instrument's library.
- New Voices have been added, expanding the sound palette.
Changing the Setting Method of Vibrato (CC # 1: Modulation)
A new parameter, "P.Mod" (related to pitch modulation), has been introduced in the settings for each Sound section within a Live Set Sound. This parameter influences pitch modulation.
Previously, the "Modulation Lever" parameters "P.Mod Depth" and "P.Mod Speed" were located within the "Controllers" section of the Live Set Sound. These have now been consolidated under the new "P.Mod" parameter.
Additionally, a "P.Mod Initial" parameter has been added to "P.Mod". This allows the initial amount of P.Mod (CC #1: Modulation) to be set to a value other than 0 when switching between Live Sets, offering greater flexibility in sound transitions.
If "P.Mod Initial" is set to a value other than its default (0), an HDD icon ? will be displayed on the top screen, indicating a custom setting is active.
Comparison of Old and New Parameter Structures
The following describes the structural changes to modulation parameters:
Version 1.00:
- Settings ➔ Controllers ➔ Modulation Lever ➔ P.Mod Depth
- Settings ➔ Controllers ➔ Modulation Lever ➔ P.Mod Speed
Version 1.10:
- Settings ➔ Organ ➔ P.Mod ➔ Depth
- Settings ➔ Organ ➔ P.Mod ➔ Speed
- Settings ➔ Organ ➔ P.Mod ➔ Initial
- Settings ➔ Key A Settings ➔ P.Mod ➔ Depth
- Settings ➔ Key A Settings ➔ P.Mod ➔ Speed
- Settings ➔ Key A Settings ➔ P.Mod ➔ Initial
- Settings ➔ Key B Settings ➔ P.Mod ➔ Depth
- Settings ➔ Key B Settings ➔ P.Mod ➔ Speed
- Settings ➔ Key B Settings ➔ P.Mod ➔ Initial
This change streamlines the modulation control settings.
Improved Operability
Enhancements have been made to the user interface and navigation:
- To access the Voice list, press and hold or double-click the Voice select switch on the top screen.
- When the [Enter] button is pressed on a screen displaying a parameter value, the interface now returns to the previous hierarchical level. This facilitates continuous parameter adjustment. To return to the top screen, press and hold the [EXIT] button.
- Note on Navigation:
- From the MENU screen, pressing the [MENU] button returns to the top screen.
- From the SETTINGS screen, pressing the [SETTINGS] button returns to the top screen.
