Operating Instructions
Mode Selection
The thermometer can operate in two modes: Body Temperature Mode and Surface Temperature Mode.
Body Temperature Measurement
- Press the Power/Mode button to turn on the device.
- Ensure the thermometer is in Body Temperature Mode (indicated by a body icon).
- Hold the thermometer 1-2 inches (3-5 cm) away from the center of the forehead.
- Press and release the Power/Mode button to take the measurement.
- The temperature will be displayed on the screen. The device will beep when the measurement is complete.
Surface Temperature Measurement
- Press the Power/Mode button to turn on the device.
- Switch to Surface Temperature Mode (indicated by a surface icon).
- Point the thermometer at the surface to be measured from a distance of 1-2 inches (3-5 cm).
- Press and release the Power/Mode button.
- The temperature will be displayed on the screen.
Understanding the Display
The digital display shows the measured temperature, the selected mode, battery status, and memory recall.
Display Icons:
- 188.8: Indicates the temperature reading.
- AM/PM: Time indicator.
- Low Voltage Sign: Indicates the battery needs replacement.
Troubleshooting
Error Codes:
- Er-1: Ambient temperature is too low or too high. Move the thermometer to a more suitable environment.
- Er-2: The distance between the thermometer and the forehead is too large or too small. Adjust the distance.
- Er-3: The forehead surface is not clean or there is a foreign object. Ensure the forehead is clean.
- Er-4: The measured temperature is too low. Re-measure.
- Er-5: The measured temperature is too high. Re-measure.
- HI: Measured temperature is higher than the upper limit of the measurement range.
- Lo: Measured temperature is lower than the lower limit of the measurement range.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Clean the thermometer sensor gently with a soft cloth or cotton swab dipped in 70% alcohol. Do not immerse the device in water.
