TIPS & TRICKS
NEW HERE? Here's an overview and a few best practices to help you get started...
We want elementary kids to see the excellent character of our all-powerful God and why He is the hero of every story. We do that by looking at 36 godly character traits, one per month. We focus on Finish Lines, which are the main thing we want kids to learn about God and His Word that week. We use big group teaching, dramas, small group discussions, and activities to provide kids with a fun, interactive learning experience. We have adapted our weekend curriculum so that it can be used in a variety of ways, regardless of time and location. TEACHING VIDEO: If you can only do one thing, we recommend watching the video together. During the video you will get to review the monthly memory verse, character trait definition, hear a story from God's Word, and learn the weekly Finish Line. There are also opportunities to pause the video and talk about what you are learning with each other.
SUGGESTED USE OF ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
1) DISCUSSION GUIDE: For a more in depth look at this week's lesson, read the story from the Bible and then answer questions about it. Kids can learn how to study the Bible using three simple questions: What does it say? What does it mean? Why does it matter?
2) ACTIVITY GUIDE: We think it is important for kids to be engaged while they are learning, so each week we offer an activity to review the memory verse and a second activity that provides an opportunity for fun while reinforcing the truths of God's Word.
3) DRAMA SCRIPT: The dramas were written with the intention of engaging kids' imaginations while also connecting to the weekly Finish Line and Bible story. The scripts provide kids opportunities to be creative and invites them into the story.
4) SPOTIFY PLAYLIST: Use this playlist of some of our favorite songs to sing praises to God whether you are at home, in the car, or wherever you are.
5) WEEKLY ACTIVITIES: Review and/or reinforce what your kids learned by using these conversation starters and activities throughout the week.
6) MONTHLY OVERVIEW: Take a look at a snapshot of everything the elementary kids will be learning each month including the memory verse, weekly Finish Lines, and Bible stories.
