- The indicator strip on the milk jug changes colour to show milk temperature. Recommended temperature is 60-65°C.
- Once the milk reaches temperature, return the dial to STANDBY BEFORE removing the jug.
- Wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth. Then, with the tip over the drip tray, briefly turn on steam to clear any remaining milk.

Care & Cleaning
Replacing the Water Filter
The water filter prevents scale build-up. Replacing it every three months or 40L reduces descaling needs. (40L limit is for water hardness level 4; can be increased to 60L for level 2 areas).
Steps:
- Set current month reminder.
- Soak filter for 5 min.
- Ensure parts are connected.
- Install filter in tank.
- Install water tank.
- Replace filter after 90 days or 40L.
Cleaning Cycle
The CLEAN ME light indicates a cleaning cycle is required (back-flushing, separate from descaling).
- Insert 1 CUP filter basket, cleaning disc, and 1 cleaning tablet into the portafilter.
- Lock portafilter into the group head; place a large container beneath spouts.
- Fill water tank with cold water; ensure drip tray is empty.
- Press POWER to switch OFF.
- Press and hold 1 CUP and 2 CUP buttons simultaneously, then press and hold POWER button for approx. 10 seconds.
- Cleaning cycle starts (approx. 5 mins), with intermittent water flow from spouts. 3 beeps signal completion.
- Remove portafilter; ensure tablet dissolved. Repeat if necessary.
Descaling
Hard water causes mineral build-up, affecting flow, temperature, power, and taste. Descale when scale is visible in the water tank, even if using the filter.
[Warning Icon] Do not immerse power cord, plug, or appliance in water. The water tank should never be removed or emptied during descaling.
Priming Machine for Descaling Function
- Dissolve one Sage Descaling powder sachet in 1 litre of water, then fill the water tank.
- Press and hold 2 CUP, then press and hold POWER simultaneously to enter Descale mode. The unit heats up; POWER button flashes. It's ready when POWER, 1 CUP, CLEAN ME, and HOT WATER/STEAM indicators are solid ON.
Descaling the Coffee Component
Press the 1 CUP button to start. Takes approx. 25 seconds. 1 CUP button flashes continuously, then stays solid. Press 1 CUP again to terminate early.
Descale the Steam and Hot Water Components
Descaling steam takes approx. 13 seconds; hot water takes approx. 8 seconds. Can be terminated by turning the dial to STANDBY.
- Descale Steam: Turn steam dial LEFT towards STEAM icon.
- Descale Hot Water: Turn steam dial RIGHT towards HOT WATER icon.
Repeat Processes to Complete Descaling
After steps 4-6, about half (0.5 litre) of the descale solution should remain. Repeat steps 4-6 to empty the solution.
Descaling Solution Rinse
- After descaling, remove and rinse the water tank thoroughly. Refill with fresh cold water (2 litres) and repeat steps 4-6 to cleanse any residue.
- Press 'POWER' to quit descaling. LED lights will switch off.
[Note Icon] The machine auto-shuts off after 5 mins of inactivity in descaling mode. Restart from step 3.
Advanced Cleaning for the Conical Burr Grinder
Required only if there's a blockage between burrs and outlet.
[Warning Icon] Grinder burrs are extremely sharp. Handle with care.
Steps involve disassembling the grinder, cleaning parts (hopper, chute, burrs, washers, grind fan), and reassembling. Specific instructions include setting grind size, loosening/tightening nuts, removing/inserting parts like the lower burr, upper burr, grind fan, washers, and re-aligning drive pins and cavities. Use provided brush or pipe cleaner for chutes. Use long-nose pliers for small parts. Ensure burrs are dry before re-assembly; a hairdryer can be used.
Cleaning the Steam Wand
- Clean after texturing milk: Wipe with a damp cloth. Direct tip over drip tray and briefly set dial to STEAM to clear milk.
- If tip holes are blocked: Ensure dial is in STANDBY. Switch OFF and cool. Use the pin on the cleaning tool to unblock.
- If still blocked: Remove tip using the integrated spanner, soak in hot water, and unblock holes before re-attaching.
Cleaning the Filter Baskets and Portafilter
- Rinse under hot water immediately after use to remove coffee oils.
- If holes are blocked, use the pin on the cleaning tool.
- If still blocked, dissolve a cleaning tablet in hot water, soak basket/portafilter for 20 mins, then rinse thoroughly.
Cleaning the Shower Screen
- Wipe group head interior and shower screen with a damp cloth to remove coffee particles.
- Periodically purge the machine: Place empty filter basket/portafilter in group head, press and hold 1 CUP button, and run water to rinse.
Cleaning the Drip & Storage Tray
- Remove, empty, and clean regularly, especially when the 'EMPTY ME!' indicator shows.
- Remove grid, lift coffee grind separator, and dispose of grounds. Remove 'EMPTY ME!' indicator by pulling upwards.
- Wash all parts in warm soapy water with a soft cloth. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
Cleaning the Outer Housing & Cup Warming Tray
- Clean with a soft, damp cloth. Polish with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleansers, pads, or cloths.
Storing Your Machine
- Ensure STEAM / HOT WATER dial is in STANDBY. Switch OFF and unplug.
- Remove beans from hopper, clean grinder (see page 16), empty water tank and drip tray.
[Warning Icon] Do not immerse power cord, plug, or appliance in water or any other liquid.
Using the Allen Key
The silicone seal around the shower screen may need replacement for optimal performance.
- Switch OFF and unplug the machine.
- Remove water tank and drip tray.
- Clean the screw centre with a skewer or similar to remove coffee residue.
- Insert the shorter end of the Allen Key into the screw centre and turn counter-clockwise to loosen.
- Once loose, carefully remove the screw, shower screen, and dispersion plate. Note their orientation for re-assembly. Wash them in warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.
- Remove the old silicone seal with fingers or pliers. Insert the new seal, flat side first, ribbed side facing you.
- Re-insert dispersion plate, shower screen, then screw. Turn screw clockwise by hand (2-3 revolutions), then tighten with Allen Key until flush with the shower screen.
- Re-insert drip tray and water tank.
