New Student Move In
OFFICE OF STUDENT HOUSING AND RESIDENCE LIFE FALL 2020 MOVE IN
Due to COVID-19, and out of an abundance of safety and precaution to our students and parents, there have been some adjustments made to our move in day process. Updates and information will be provided on our website, and students will receive notifications about move-in.
Student Move-in starts Tuesday, August 11, 2020 and ends August 16, 2020. Students should report directly to their residence hall. Move in times are from 8:00am-6:00pm. The following schedule will be used:
­ Tuesday, August 11, 2020: Last Names A-F ­ Wednesday, August 12, 2020: Last names G-L ­ Thursday, August 13, 2020: Last Names L-S ­ Friday, August 14, 2020: Last Names T-Z ­ Saturday, August 15, 2020: ALL ­ Sunday, August 16, 2020: ALL
If you are not able to move in on your assigned day, please email reslife@hindcc.edu and your hall director will follow up with you regarding the day/time you can move in. Students should remember to bring a state ID at move in.
Student IDs All residential students must have a student ID. Student IDs are to be worn about the waist while walking around on campus.
(New Students Only) Make preparations to submit your ID picture. Your picture will be waiting for you when you check into your residence hall on move-in day.
For students that are in the area, you may come to Denton Hall, Room 221 to take your picture. The housing office is open Monday-Thursday from 8:00am-4:30pm. Starting August 1, Denton Hall will be open Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm. Please remember to wear a mask when you come into the building and adhere to social distancing as directed by the signage.
You can also submit a picture of you to be used for your Student ID to reslife@hindscc.edu. Please include the following: Your last name, your first name, and your Student ID number. Pictures must adhere to the following:
-Pictures must be in JPEG format -Pictures cannot be a selfie

-Picture must be taken against a white background -There should be no hats/face coverings in the pictures unless it is for religious beliefs -Picture must be from the shoulder up to the top of your head
If your picture is not submitted correctly, you will receive an email asking you to resubmit an additional picture.
Please remember the following regarding Student Move in:
· A student will need his/her ID to move in. This can be any state issued identification.
· Students and parent/guardian assisting must wear a mask that covers both the nose and mouth and must wear it correctly while moving the student in.
· Students are only allowed to bring 1 person to assist with move in to decrease the spread of COVID-19.
· Students are encouraged to bring cleaning supplies to do additional cleaning to his/her room.
· Please report to your student's assigned residence hall with your student on Move-In Day.
· Wear closed-toe shoes.
· Bring a dolly or cart to assist with carrying things to your room.
· Bring bottled water.
Student Check In All of your check in paperwork as well as your student ID (if you have submitted your picture or come to take your ID picture) will be available to you upon check in.
Please note that in order to receive your key, the following must be satisfied: 1) Academic Class schedule of 15 or more hours 2) Completed financial aid 3) Fall 2020 balance of $0 or a payment plan in place
If you do not have this in place, staff will ask you to go to the appropriate offices to ensure this is complete.
The check in process will be largely touchless. Included in your paperwork will be a room condition report form, rules and regulations, and COVID safety tips. Please read this thoroughly. Sign the Room condition report form and return it to your hall director. Your hall director will be in his/her office. You may call them or knock on the office door for assistance and questions about any paperwork. Resident assistants will also be available to answer any questions that you have.
What to Expect Fall 2020

Social Distancing in the Residence Halls -There will signs that encourage social distancing and frequent handwashing. Social distancing will be practiced in the common spaces and lobbies. Physical distancing will need to be practiced in the restrooms. Students in Allen Dukes and Riggs are responsible for cleaning their own bathrooms.
Visitation -Visitation is limited to students that reside in your current hall -The lobby will be limited to 6-8 residents that currently reside in the hall.
Face Coverings -Student Housing will provide 1 face covering for each student. -Face coverings should be worn in all areas of the residence hall except your room.
Room Changes -Room Changes will be limited to emergencies only for the Fall 2020 semester.
Isolation and Quarantine -Students will be expected to fill out the Self Reporting Form if experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or if they have been exposed. -If student housing deems it necessary for a student to quarantine, they must do so immediately for 14 days. -Students will have the option to quarantine on or off campus.
Student Move Out Student Move-out is November 20, 2020. Please bring minimal items and the storage containers. If students must vacate sooner due to COVID-19, the college will communicate that with you.
