Gateway Status
- Solid blue: Has connected to Wi-Fi.
- Flash blue slowly: Ready to connect to Wi-Fi.
- Flash blue quickly: Connecting to Wi-Fi.
- Solid red: Fail to connect to Wi-Fi.
- Flash blue and red alternately: Ready to pair with the water leak detector.
Checking the Water Leak Detector
- Remove the insulation sheet vertically.
- Press the button. The detector beeps 1s later, indicating it works well. If not, open the back cover with a PH00/PH0 screwdriver to replace batteries.
- Press the button once. Adjust alarm volume by pressing the button twice within 1s. The indicator flashes quickly. The volume level cycles through HIGH - MEDIUM - LOW - MUTE. Default volume is high.
- The detector alarms when water drips on the sensor contact or it's placed on a wet surface.
- Press the Push Button to stop the alarm for 5s. Remove the device from water and wipe it dry to stop the alarm completely.
Notice: When the battery is low, the device sounds "dididi" and flashes red slowly.
Installing Your Device
- Plug the gateway into a power outlet.
- Lay the water leak detector flat.
Notice: Keep the distance between the gateway and the detector less than 60m/197ft.
Preparation Before Connecting
- A Wi-Fi router supporting 2.4GHz (NOT 5GHz) and 802.11 b/g/n bands. (Most 5GHz routers can also be set to 2.4GHz band or dual band.)
- Ensure Wi-Fi name and password are correct.
- A smartphone or tablet supporting 2.4GHz network.
- Download the Govee Home app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
Connecting to a Wi-Fi Network
- Connect your phone to the 2.4GHz network. Notice: Android users should turn on Location; iOS users should go to Setting - Govee Home - Location - Always.
- Open Govee Home, tap the "+" icon in the top right corner, and select "H5040".
- Press and hold the Wi-Fi Pairing Button for 3s. The gateway indicator will flash blue slowly, indicating it's ready to connect to Wi-Fi.
- Follow the on-screen instructions in the app to complete the connection.
- The indicator will be solid blue upon successful connection. The water leak detector will appear in the device list.
Notice: If the detector is not found, swipe down the device list page to refresh or refer to "Add or Re-add Water Leak Detector" below.
If the connection fails, the indicator will be solid red. Please check the steps above and try again, or select "H5040" in the app and tap "Video Guide" for more instructions.
Notification Setting
- App notification: Open the app, select "water leak detector" from the device list, and tap the setting icon. You can turn on/off notification push for water leaks, and control sound and vibration alarms for app notifications.
- Email notification: Open the app, tap "My Profile" in the lower right corner, then "Notification settings". Turn on/off email notifications for water leaks.
Add or Re-add Water Leak Detector
- Press and hold the 433 Pairing Button for 3s. The gateway indicator will flash red and blue alternately, indicating it's ready to pair.
- Place the detector near the gateway. Press the Push Button on the detector; it will send a pairing signal. The detector beeps and its LED shows red for 2s.
- The gateway receives the signal and pairs with the water leak detector. The indicator turns solid blue.
- Swipe down the device list page in the app to refresh. The newly added device will appear.
Notice:
- If the gateway fails to pair within 30s, its indicator will flash blue quickly, and it will exit pairing mode.
- There is a 1s delay for the beep sound after pressing the Push Button.
- If pairing fails, please re-check the steps and try again.
Troubleshooting
1. The gateway cannot connect to Wi-Fi or the connection is unstable.
- a. The device only supports 2.4GHz networks, not 5GHz.
- b. Verify the network name and password.
- c. Ensure the gateway is within the router's signal coverage.
- d. Avoid obstructions like metal doors or walls between the gateway and the detector.
2. The water leak detector cannot work.
- a. Ensure the insulation sheet is removed before use.
- b. Remove and reinstall the battery by opening the back cover with a PH00/PH0 screwdriver.
- c. Check if the battery is low.
3. No/Delayed notification in the app.
- a. For Android, ensure Location is turned on. For iOS, go to Setting - Govee Home - Location - Always.
- b. Keep the gateway and detector as close as possible.
- c. Avoid obstructions between the gateway and the detector.
- d. The time interval between two water detections must be longer than 90s for the app to push notifications.
- e. Check if the gateway indicator flashes when the detector is triggered. If not, re-add the detector.
