How to Convert Sleeper Sofa

Transforming the HÄRLANDA sleeper sofa into a spacious bed is simple:

1. Start by removing the back and seat cushions.
2. Fold down the fabric piece located at the front edge of the seat.
3. Lift the underframe and pull it towards you.
4. Finally, fold down the foot of the bed.

Fabric Testing

IKEA tests fabric covers for durability, including resistance to abrasion. Fabrics are rated based on cycles in an abrasion test; 15,000 cycles are suitable for everyday use, while over 30,000 cycles indicate high resistance. Fabrics are also checked for resistance to fading from sunlight.

Fabric Descriptions:

• Inseros: Plain woven cotton with a smooth surface texture. 100% cotton. Machine washable.
• Ljungen: Durable polyester fabric with a soft, velvety surface and a slightly reflective luster. 100% polyester. Machine washable.
• Sporda: Natural based textured fabric with a two-toned melange effect. Composition: Cotton/polyester/linen. Machine washable.

Durability also depends on materials, construction, and usage. Tightly woven fabrics with flat surfaces and those made with a mix of natural and synthetic fibers generally offer better abrasion resistance. Yarn-dyed fabrics are more durable than printed patterns. Keeping covers clean also helps maintain durability.
