JATP700 Appliance Description
Juniper Networks Advanced Threat Prevention 700 (JATP700) appliance is an advanced threat prevention platform that is designed to identify and prevent targeted attacks across multiple threat vectors. The appliance can be deployed as a core device, as a Web collector, or as an All-In-One device. The JATP700 appliance is a 2-rack-unit (2-U), rack-mountable chassis with dual AC power supplies (or optional dual DC power supplies), eight hard disk drives that support RAID, 128-GB memory, and two 10-Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ interfaces and four 1-Gigabit Ethernet interfaces.
Benefits of the JATP700 Appliance
· Multivector traffic inspection--Provides continuous, multistage detection and analysis of Web, e-mail, and lateral spread traffic moving through the network.
· Multistage threat detection--Monitors network traffic to identify threats as they progress through the kill chain, detecting phishing, exploits, malware downloads, command and control communications, and internal threats.
· Multistage threat analysis--Performs static, payload, machine learning, and behavior analyses, as well as malware reputation analysis, and continuously adapts to the changing threat landscape by leveraging Juniper Networks Global Security Service, a cloud-based service that offers the latest threat detection and mitigation information.
· Threat analytics--Offers a holistic view of identity and threat activity gathered from a diverse set of sources such as Active Directory, endpoint antivirus, firewalls, secure Web gateways, intrusion detection systems, and endpoint detection and response tools. The analytics component receives data from these sources, identifies advanced malicious traits, and correlates the events to provide complete visibility into a threat's kill chain.
· Integration with third-party devices--The JATP700 appliance supports an open API architecture, which enables it to integrate with several third-party security devices to seamlessly and automatically mitigate threats.

Two 10-Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ ports on the rear panel of the JATP700 appliance supports SFP+ transceiver. Table 3 on page 14 lists the details of supported transceiver type.

NOTE: The system powers down automatically when the power supply temperature reaches 70° C and restarts when the power supply temperature goes below 60° C.

failure. That is, the power is received but the power supply is not functioning. Check for a non-operational power supply.
· Solid red--Indicates an overheat condition, which might be caused due to obstruction to the airflow in the system - for example, by cables or due to increase in the ambient temperature.
You can perform the following checks:
· Check the routing of the cables if they are obstructing the airflow from the system.
· Ensure that all fans are present and operating normally.
· Ensure that the chassis covers are installed.
· Solid blue --Indicates User ID (UID) function is activated. Use this function to locate the server in a rack mount environment.
· Blue (blinking)--Indicates Remote UID is on. Use this function to identify that the server is used from a remote location.

General Site Installation Guidelines for the JATP700 Appliance
The following precautions can help you plan an acceptable operating environment for your JATP700 appliance and avoid equipment failures caused by environmental factors: · For the cooling system to function properly, the airflow around the chassis must be unrestricted. Allow
sufficient clearance between the front and back of the chassis and adjacent equipment. Ensure that there is adequate circulation in the installation location. · Follow the electrostatic discharge (ESD) procedures to avoid damaging the equipment. Static discharge can cause components to fail, either completely or intermittently over time.
NOTE: Install the appliance only in restricted areas, such as dedicated equipment rooms and equipment closets, in accordance with Articles 110­16, 110­17, and 110­18 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70.

JATP700 Appliance Rack and Clearance Requirements

The JATP700 appliance is installed in a four-post rack.

Table 12 on page 24 provides the requirements for rack size, clearance, airflow, spacing of mounting brackets and flange holes, and connecting to the building structure.

Connecting to the building structure

Always secure the rack in which you are installing the JATP700 appliance to the structure of the building. If your geographical area is subject to earthquakes, bolt the rack to the floor. For maximum stability, also secure the rack to ceiling brackets.

Verifying the JATP700 Parts Received
The JATP700 appliance shipment package contains a packing list. Check the parts in the shipment against the items on the packing list. The packing list specifies the part numbers and carries a brief description of each part in your order. Installing the JATP700 Appliance
Place the shipping container on a flat surface and carefully remove the hardware components. The chassis package includes a pair of rack rail assemblies and mounting screws required to install the chassis in a rack. Each rail assembly consists of an inner, a middle, and an outer rail, as shown in Figure 5 on page 32.

33 To install the JATP700 appliance: 1. To mount the JATP700 appliance in a four-post rack:
a. Install the inner rail extensions. 1. Pull the inner rail out of the outer rail until it is fully extended as illustrated. Press the locking tab down to release the inner rail, as shown in Figure 6 on page 33. Each inner rail has a locking tab that secures the chassis when completely extended from the rack.

2. Place the inner rails against the sides of the chassis, aligning the chassis hooks with the holes in the inner rails, as shown in Figure 7 on page 33.
3. Slide the inner rail toward the front of the chassis until the inner rail clicks into the locked position. 4. Secure the inner rails to the chassis with the screws provided. Figure 7: Installing the Inner Rails

NOTE: Each inner rail of the JATP700 appliance has a locking tab. The locking tabs secure the chassis when it is either installed or completely extended from the rack.
b. Install the outer rails:

34 1. Press the locking tabs upward at the rear of the middle rails, and slide the middle rails into the
outer rails. 2. Insert the front hooks of the outer rails into the front slots of the rack, and use the M5 screws

3. Extend the outer rails, and adjust the length to fit within the posts of the rack. 4. Insert the rear hooks of the outer rails into the rear slots of the rack, and use the screws to secure

35 c. Slide the middle rails away from the rear of the outer rails. d. Position the ball-bearing shuttle at the front of the middle rails. e. f. Apply even pressure on both sides, slide the chassis inner rails into the middle rails until the locking tab of the inner rail clicks into the front of the middle rail, locking the chassis into the fully extended position.
g. Depress the locking tabs on both sides simultaneously, and slide the chassis into the rear of the rack.
h. Use the screws to secure the chassis handles to the rack. See Figure 11 on page 36 for the installed chassis in a four-post rack.

2. Plug each of the power cords into each of the AC receptacles on the rear panel. See Figure 12 on page 36.

3. Plug the other end of the power cords into the wall socket. NOTE: Plug each power cord into a separate power circuit to ensure that the device continues to receive power if one of the power circuits fails.
4. Plug the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the back panel. When you turn on the power, the internal port uses two LEDs to indicate the LAN connection status, as described in "JATP700 Appliance Back Panel Description" on page 18.

5. Connect the monitor to VGA port and the keyboard to USB port on the back panel. For more information, see "Connecting the JATP700 Appliance to a Management Device" on page 41.
6. Push the power button on the front panel. The power LED on the chassis turns solid green.

Connecting the JATP700 Appliance to Ground
To meet safety and electromagnetic interference (EMI) requirements and to ensure proper operation, you must connect the device chassis to earth ground, if required by your site guidelines or installation. Grounding for the JATP700 appliance is provided through the power supply ground. Ensure that you connect the AC power supply module in the appliance to a grounded AC power outlet by using an AC power cord (with the grounding pin) appropriate for your geographical location.

Connecting AC Power Source to the JATP700 Appliance
Before you connect AC power to the JATP700 appliance: · Ensure that you have taken the necessary precautions to prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage. · Ensure that you have connected the JATP700 appliance chassis to earth ground, if required by your site
guidelines or installation.
CAUTION: For installations that require a separate grounding conductor to the chassis, have a licensed electrician complete this connection before you connect the appliance to power. For instructions on connecting earth ground, see "Connecting the JATP700 Appliance to Ground" on page 37.
Required tools and parts: · ESD grounding strap · Power cord or cords appropriate for your geographical location.
CAUTION: Before you connect power to the JATP700 appliance, ensure both power supply ground terminals are grounded to meet the safety requirements and to ensure proper operation.
To connect AC power to a JATP700 appliance: 1. To prevent damage to the equipment caused by static discharge, attach one end of an ESD strap to an
ESD point and fasten the other end around your bare wrist.
2. Ensure that the power supplies are fully inserted in the chassis and the latches are secure.
3. Locate the power cord or cords shipped with the JATP700 appliance.
4. Plug the power cord into the AC receptacle on the rear panel as shown in Figure 13 on page 39. If your appliance contains two power supplies, plug each of the power cords into each of the AC receptacles.

You connect a DC power source to the JATP700 appliance by attaching power cables from the external DC power sources to the terminal studs on the DC power feed faceplates.
WARNING: DC-powered JATP appliances are intended for installation only in restricted access locations.
WARNING: Before you perform the following procedure, ensure that power is removed from the DC circuit. To ensure that all power is off, locate the circuit breaker on the panel board that services the DC circuit, switch the circuit breaker to the OFF position, and tape the switch handle of the circuit breaker in the OFF position.
To connect the DC source power to the JATP700 appliance: 1. Ensure that the input circuit breaker is open so that the voltage across the DC power source cable
leads is 0 V, and so that the cable leads will not become active while you are connecting DC power.
2. Connect the black wire to the -48 V terminal block and red wire to the RTN terminal block on the back panel of the JATP700 appliance.
3. Use the terminal screws to secure the power source cables to the power feed on the JATP700 appliance.
4. Attach the plastic safety cover.
5. Close the input circuit breaker. The device powers on as soon as power is provided to the power supply.

Powering Off the JATP700
You can power off the JATP700 appliance in one of the following ways: · Graceful shutdown--Press and immediately release the Power button. Or
You can run the following command in the server configuration mode: shutdown · Forced shutdown--Press the Power button, and hold it for five seconds. Use this method only if the appliance is not responding to the graceful shutdown method.

You can connect external devices to the JATP700 appliance using the ports on the back panel. To connect a keyboard and monitor to the JATP700 appliance: 1. Selecting the Form Factor
To select a form factor: 1. At the console prompt, log in to JATP with the following default credentials: username admin and the
password 1JATP234. NOTE: The username is case sensitive.
2. Press Enter. The End User License Agreement (EULA) appears.
3. Read the information and press the Spacebar to advance each window until you have reached the end of the agreement.
4. Type Yes to accept the agreement, and then press Enter. 5. Enter a new CLI admin password to change the default password and then press Enter.
NOTE: The password must be at least eight characters long.

43 6. Reenter the new password and then press Enter.
Juniper Networks Advanced Threat Prevention window appears. See Figure 14 on page 43. NOTE: By default, the JATP700 appliance is shipped with the All-In-One configuration. You can change the configuration to your desired form factor by following the instructions from Step 7 to Step 10.

8. Enter a number from 1-4 to choose your desired form factor. For example, enter 2 to change the All-In-One to Traffic Collector form factor.
9. Type Yes to reconfirm to change the current form factor of the appliance. Services are restarted and a successful confirmation message displays about the change of the form factor.
10. Type Yes to configure the system by using the configuration wizard.

Configuring the IP Address and Domain Name Servers
To configure the JATP network settings, enter the values for the following parameters: NOTE: Use the up or down arrow keys to navigate the fields.
1. Enter the IP address of the management interface (eth0). 2. Enter the network mask address for the eth0 interface. 3. Enter the default gateway for the eth0 interface. 4. Enter the primary DNS server for the eth0 interface. 5. (Optional) Type Yes and enter the secondary DNS server for the eth0 interface. 6. (Optional) Type Yes and enter the search domain for the eth0 interface. For example, example.com.
NOTE: Provide a space to enter multiple search domains.
7. Type Yes and press Enter to restart the management (eth0) interface. NOTE: The network interface restart can take up to 60 seconds or more.
Configuring the Device Host Name
To configure the device host name: 1. Enter a valid hostname. For example, JATP700.
NOTE: Enter a unique name for the host and do not include the domain.

For more information on the certificates, see the Managing Certificates section in the Operator's Guide. SSL self-signed certificate is regenerated successfully and the hostname will be updated after the next login.

Redundant array of inexpensive disk (RAID) is a method of storing large amounts of application data used for data redundancy, performance improvement, or both. There are different RAID levels designed to increase data reliability and I/O performance. The key concepts in RAID are: · Mirroring--Copy data to more than one disk · Striping--Split data across more than one disk · Error correction--Redundant data storage to detect and resolve problems The JATP700 appliance uses the RAID6 configuration. In RAID6, drives are duplicated for fault tolerance.

Locating the Serial Number on a JATP700 Chassis
If you are returning a JATP700 appliance to Juniper Networks for repair or replacement, you must locate the serial number of the appliance. The serial number ID of the JATP700 appliance is located on a label on the back of the chassis. You must provide the serial number to the Juniper Networks Technical Assistance Center (JTAC) when you contact them to obtain a Return Materials Authorization (RMA). See .
NOTE: As JATP700 appliance does not support any Field-replaceable Units (FRUs), you must request RMA for the complete appliance.
Contacting Customer Support to Obtain Return Material Authorization
If you are returning the JATP700 appliance to Juniper Networks for repair or replacement, obtain a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number from Juniper Networks Technical Assistance Center (JTAC). Close the top of the cardboard shipping box and seal it with packing tape. 8. Write the return materials authorization (RMA) number on the exterior of the box to ensure proper
tracking.

General Safety Guidelines and Warnings
The following guidelines help ensure your safety and protect the device from damage. The list of guidelines might not address all potentially hazardous situations in your working environment, so be alert and exercise good judgment at all times.
· Perform only the procedures explicitly described in the hardware documentation for this device. Make sure that only authorized service personnel perform other system services.
· Keep the area around the device clear and free from dust before, during, and after installation. · Keep tools away from areas where people could trip over them while walking. · Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry, such as rings, bracelets, or chains, which could become caught
in the device. · Wear safety glasses if you are working under any conditions that could be hazardous to your eyes. · Do not perform any actions that create a potential hazard to people or make the equipment unsafe. · Never attempt to lift an object that is too heavy for one person to handle. · Never install or manipulate wiring during electrical storms. · Never install electrical jacks in wet locations unless the jacks are specifically designed for wet
environments. · Operate the device only when it is properly grounded. · Follow the instructions in this guide to properly ground the device to earth. · Replace fuses only with fuses of the same type and rating. · Do not open or remove chassis covers or sheet-metal parts unless instructions are provided in the
hardware documentation for this device. Such an action could cause severe electrical shock. · Do not push or force any objects through any opening in the chassis frame. Such an action could result
in electrical shock or fire. · Avoid spilling liquid onto the chassis or onto any device component. Such an action could cause electrical

Definitions of Safety Warning Levels

Fire Safety Requirements
In the event of a fire emergency, the safety of people is the primary concern. You should establish procedures for protecting people in the event of a fire emergency, provide safety training, and properly provision fire-control equipment and fire extinguishers. In addition, you should establish procedures to protect your equipment in the event of a fire emergency. Juniper Networks products should be installed in an environment suitable for electronic equipment. We recommend that fire suppression equipment be available in the event of a fire in the vicinity of the equipment and that all local fire, safety, and electrical codes and ordinances be observed when you install and operate your equipment.
Fire Suppression
In the event of an electrical hazard or an electrical fire, you should first turn power off to the equipment at the source. Then use a Type C fire extinguisher, which uses noncorrosive fire retardants, to extinguish the fire.
Fire Suppression Equipment
Type C fire extinguishers, which use noncorrosive fire retardants such as carbon dioxide and HalotronTM, are most effective for suppressing electrical fires. Type C fire extinguishers displace oxygen from the point of combustion to eliminate the fire. For extinguishing fire on or around equipment that draws air from the environment for cooling, you should use this type of inert oxygen displacement extinguisher instead of an extinguisher that leaves residues on equipment.

Do not use multipurpose Type ABC chemical fire extinguishers (dry chemical fire extinguishers). The primary ingredient in these fire extinguishers is monoammonium phosphate, which is very sticky and difficult to clean. In addition, in the presence of minute amounts of moisture, monoammonium phosphate can become highly corrosive and corrodes most metals. Any equipment in a room in which a chemical fire extinguisher has been discharged is subject to premature failure and unreliable operation. The equipment is considered to be irreparably damaged.
NOTE: To keep warranties effective, do not use a dry chemical fire extinguisher to control a fire at or near a Juniper Networks device. If a dry chemical fire extinguisher is used, the unit is no longer eligible for coverage under a service agreement.
We recommend that you dispose of any irreparably damaged equipment in an environmentally responsible manner.

Chassis Lifting Guidelines for the JATP700 Appliance
The weight of a fully loaded JATP700 appliance is approximately 41.9 lb (19 kg). Observe the following guidelines for lifting and moving a JATP700 appliance: · Before installing the appliance, read the guidelines in "JATP700 Site Guidelines and Requirements" on
page 22. · Before lifting or moving the JATP appliance, disconnect all external cables.

· As when lifting any heavy object, lift most of the weight with your legs rather than your back. Keep your knees bent and your back relatively straight and avoid twisting your body as you lift. Balance the load evenly and be sure that your footing is solid.

· The device must be installed in a rack that is secured to the building structure. · The device should be mounted at the bottom of the rack if it is the only unit in the

· When mounting the device on a partially filled rack, load the rack from the bottom to the top with the heaviest component at the bottom of the rack.
· If the rack is provided with stabilizing equipment, install the stabilizers before mounting or servicing the device in the rack.

General Laser Safety Guidelines
When working around ports that support optical transceivers, observe the following safety guidelines to prevent eye injury: · Do not look into unterminated ports or at fibers that connect to unknown sources. · Do not examine unterminated optical ports with optical instruments. · Avoid direct exposure to the beam.

General Electrical Safety Guidelines and Warnings
WARNING: Certain ports on the device are designed for use as intrabuilding (within-the-building) interfaces only (Type 2 or Type 4 ports as described in GR-1089-CORE) and require isolation from the exposed outside plant (OSP) cabling. To comply with NEBS requirements and protect against lightning surges and commercial power disturbances, the intrabuilding ports must not be metallically connected to interfaces that connect to the OSP or its wiring. The intrabuilding ports on the device are suitable for connection to intrabuilding or unexposed wiring or cabling only. The addition of primary protectors is not sufficient protection for connecting these interfaces metallically to OSP wiring.

Prevention of Electrostatic Discharge Damage
Device components that are shipped in antistatic bags are sensitive to damage from static electricity. Some components can be impaired by voltages as low as 30 V. You can easily generate potentially damaging static voltages whenever you handle plastic or foam packing material or if you move components across plastic or carpets. Observe the following guidelines to minimize the potential for electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage, which can cause intermittent or complete component failures:
· Always use an ESD wrist strap when you are handling components that are subject to ESD damage, and make sure that it is in direct contact with your skin. If a grounding strap is not available, hold the component in its antistatic bag (see Figure 18 on page 94) in one hand and touch the exposed, bare metal of the device with the other hand immediately before inserting the component into the device.
WARNING: For safety, periodically check the resistance value of the ESD grounding strap. The measurement must be in the range 1 through 10 Mohms.

Canada
