ThewaythatLCMhandlesrequeststocreatevirtualmachinesdependsonhowtheLCMAdministratorhas
configuredtheapprovalprocess.Ifapprovalisrequired,anemailnotificationissenttotheLCMApprover.
If approvalisnotrequired,andthereisnoconflictwiththerequest,thevirtualmachineiscreated.Ifthereis
aconflict,anLCMITStaffuserreceivesanemailnotificationthatavirtualmachineiswaitingtobecreated.
Afteravirtualmachinehasbeencreated,itcanbeuseduntilthedecommissioningdate.Fivedaysbeforethe
decommissioningdate,anemailnoticeissenttotheuserwhorequestedthevirtualmachineifemail
notificationsareenabled.Therequestercandooneofthefollowing:
Requesttoextendthelifeofthemachine.
Iftheextensionisnotapproved,thevirtualmachineisdecommissionedandisarchivedordeleted.
The LCMAdministratordetermineswhetherdecommissionedvirtualmachinesarearchived.
Manuallydecommissionthevirtualmachine.
TheLCMAdministratorcanchoosetodeletethevirtualmachinerequest.TheLCMAdministratoristheonly
rolethatcanremoveinformationaboutavirtualmachine.Whenarequestisdeleted,noinformationaboutthe
virtualmachineappearsinreports,butthevirtualmachineisnotdestroyed.Ifavirtualmachinerequestis
accidentallydeleted,theLCMAdministratorcanrecovertheassociatedvirtualmachine.
