Guard RFID Solutions 433MHz RFID/RLTS Receiver Tag Exciter Location Appliance
User Guide
PRODUCT INFORMATION Tag Reader (TR2) FEATURES: • Provides industry leading location accuracy, access control ready • Dual internal or external antennas • Wired or wireless networking and PoE compatible • Capable of using IEEE 802.15.4 (433 MHz PHY) or GuardRFID wireless protocol • Reduced maintenance cost - supports remote diagnostics and updates, reducing overall maintenance costs and downtime • Suitable for visible (surface mount) or hidden installation DESCRIPTION: The Tag Reader (TR2) is a data gathering and transmission point within the GuardRFID system, communicating wirelessly with active RFID/RTLS tags and other GuardRFID infrastructure to provide tag location and, when combined with an I/O Module, advanced access control abilities. Using its dual antennas, The TR2 can communicate with hundreds of active RFID/RTLS tags per second. The TR2 is compatible with tags compliant to IEEE 802.15.4 (433 MHz PHY) or GuardRFID’s proprietary protocol. The TR2 can be unobtrusively installed above a false ceiling, or surface mounted to a wall or ceiling tile if visibility is not an issue. The deployment density of TR2s depends on the required coverage, desired location accuracy, and antenna type used—the TR2 can use its internal antennas, the provided external whip antennas, or external, high-gain antennas. Maximum read distance at which tags can be detected varies according to tag type and environment, but it is not unusual to exceed hundreds of meters if using a high-gain antenna. The TR2 can achieve a location accuracy of 3m (10 feet) in a typical office environment, which can be further optimized by adjusting RF sensitivity within the software. Communication with the remainder of the GuardRFID network is achieved through a wired (Ethernet) or wireless (point to multipoint) connection.
