DRAFT COPYOPERATIONAL INSPECTIONComplete operational inspection of the Personal Trans-mitter requires use of the Hand Held Receiver1. To test the manual alarm, press either of the twomanual alarm buttons on the Personal Transmitter.a) The Personal Transmitter shall sound a loudalmost continuous 2 tone chirp accompanied byflashing of the red signal light.NOTEIF A LOW BATTERY INDICATION OCCURS AT ANY TIMEDURING REGULAR OPERATIONAL INSPECTION, DONOT USE THE EQUIPMENT. CHANGE THE BATTERIESAS REQUIRED AND REPEAT THE REGULAROPERATIONAL TEST OR TAKE THE EQUIPMENT OUTOF SERVICE UNTIL THE BATTERIES ARE CHANGEDAND THE REGULAR OPERATIONAL TEST ISSUCCESSFULLY PERFORMED.VISUAL INSPECTION1. Visually inspect the Personal Transmitter enclosurefor cracks or other damage. If any damage is found,remove  the unit from service and tag forreplacement.2. Verify that the label with the Personal Transmitter IDNumber is clear and legible.3. Turn on the Personal Transmitter by removing thelanyard. Verify that the unit sounds and lights properly.The Personal Transmitter shall sound a loud almostcontinuous 3 tone chirp accompanied by flashing ofthe red signal light.4. Battery Life – The Personal Transmitter will chirp onceevery three seconds to indicate the batteries are lowand require changing. If the low battery indicationoccurs during the REGULAR OPERATIONALINSPECTION, replace the batteries beforeproceeding with the inspection. See the BATTERYINSTALLATION section of this instruction.REGULAR OPERATIONAL INSPECTIONWARNINGFOLLOW REGULAR OPERATIONAL INSPECTION PRO-CEDURE EXACTLY. IF THE SCOTT PAK-TRACKERLOCATOR SYSTEM DOES NOT ACTUATE, OR DOES NOTOPERATE AS DESCRIBED OR IF ANY OTHER OPERA-TIONAL MALFUNCTION IS NOTED, DO NOT USE THEEQUIPMENT. FAILURE TO PROPERLY IDENTIFY MAL-FUNCTIONS MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY ORDEATH.WARNINGFAILURE TO REGULARLY INSPECT THE SCOTT PAK-TRACKER LOCATOR SYSTEM EQUIPMENT, ASDESCRIBED IN THIS INSTRUCTION OR FAILURE TO IDEN-TIFY DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT, MAY IMPAIR THEINTRINSIC SAFETY OF THE EQUIPMENT. THE INSTAL-LATION OF INCORRECT BATTERIES OR SUBSTITUTIONOF ANY OTHER COMPONENTS MAY IMPAIR THE INTRIN-SIC SAFETY OF THE EQUIPMENT. IF THE EQUIPMENT ISUSED IN AN EXPLOSIVE OR FLAMMABLE ATMOSPHERE,IMPAIRING THE INTRINSIC SAFETY OF THE EQUIPMENTMAY LEAD TO A FIRE OR AN EXPLOSION WHICH COULDRESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.b) The Hand Held Receiver will sound an alert anddisplay the Identification Number of the PersonalTransmitter which appears on the label on thetransmitter battery cover.c) Press the ENTER button ONCE on the HandHeld Receiver to select the displayed ID numberd) Point the Hand Held Receiver directly at and inclose proximity to the Personal Transmitter. Thesignal strength displayed will be at its highestvalue.2. Reset the manual alarm by pressing simultaneouslyon both buttons located on the sides of the PersonalTransmittera) The unit will sound three chirps and the greenlight will flash.b) The Hand Held Receiver will reset to its non-alarm state.3. Repeat the test in step 1 using the other manual alarmbutton.4. To check the motion detector, leave the PersonalTransmitter motionless for thirty (30) seconds.a) The Personal Transmitter shall sound a loudalmost continuous 2 tone chirp accompanied byflashing of the red signal light after ten (10)seconds.b) The Hand Held Receiver will sound an alarm anddisplay the Identification Number of the PersonalTransmitter which appears on the label on thetransmitter battery cover.c) Press the ENTER button ONCE on the HandHeld Receiver to select the displayed ID numberd) Point the Hand Held Receiver directly at and inclose proximity to the Personal Transmitter. Thesignal strength displayed will be at its highestvalue.4. Turn the Personal Transmitter OFF by re-insertingthe lanyard. The unit will sound a two tone chirp andthe green light will go out.Install or replace batteries in the Personal Transmitteras follows:1. Using a #1 Phillips screwdriver, loosen the four screwsholding the battery cover. The screws are captive inthe cover. See FIGURE 1.2. Remove the old batteries and dispose of inaccordance with state or local regulations.3. Install three fresh batteries of the type designated.Orient the plus “+” and minus “-” ends of  the batteriesas illustrated inside the battery compartment.4. Inspect the gasket on the inside of the battery coverfor cuts or damage that might cause a leak. If anydamage is found, remove the unit from service andtag for repair by authorized personnel.5. Replace the battery cover and thread the four screwsin alternately Place the Battery Cover with gasket ontothe Personal Transmitter housing and secure the four(4) screws using the #1 Phillips screw driver.  Evenlytighten the four cover screws by moving across thecover in an “X” pattern, turning each screw 1 to 2times until cover is fully seated.6. Test the operation of the Personal Transmitteraccording to the REGULAR OPERATIONALINSPECTION section of this instruction.BATTERY INSTALLATIONFOR THE PERSONAL TRANSMITTERThe Personal Transmitter requires three (3) AAA batteriesfor operation. Use only three fresh batteries of the typespecified. Batteries must only be installed or changed inan area known to be nonflammable.WARNINGDISPOSE OF DAMAGED OR DEPLETED BATTERIES INACCORDANCE WITH FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL EN-VIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS. DO NOT THROW AWAYDAMAGED BATTERIES AS ORDINARY TRASH. DRAFT COPYSTORAGEWhen storing the SCOTT PAK-TRACKER LOCATORSYSTEM Personal Transmitter for an extended periodof time, remove the batteries to prevent damage to thebattery terminals.The Personal Transmitter may be stored in temperaturesfrom -40°F to +185°C  (-40°C to +85°C).CLEANINGThe SCOTT PAK-TRACKER LOCATOR SYSTEM PersonalTransmitter is factory sealed to protect the electronics fromdirt and moisture. The Unit should be cleaned when nec-essary using a cloth dampened with a solution of milddetergent and water. This line of elec-tronic accessories is for use by fire fighters, firstresponders, domestic preparedness and law enforce-ment officers, as well as haz-mat and industrial users.These instructions (SCOTT P/N 595101-01) pertain onlyto the Personal Transmitter.Refer to the SCOTT PAK-TRACKER LOCATOR SYSTEMUser Instructions (SCOTT P/N 595102-01) for completeinstructions and warnings for use and maintenance ofthe SCOTT PAK-TRACKER LOCATOR SYSTEM includ-ing the Hand Held Receiver. Those instructions must beused as the basis for training in use of the whole system.They include an overview of the system operation andlimitations, as well as user level maintenance.Training and practice in realistic emergency simulationsis required before use of this equipment. Donot tamper with or substitute components in any man-ner. Use only batteries of the type indicated in the BatteryReplacement instructions. Open the battery compart-ments only in an area known to be free of flammable orexplosive hazards.WARNING – Substitution of Components May Impair In-trinsic Safety.
