The product(s) described in this user instruction is in conformity with the provisions set out in the Personal protective
euqipment (PPE) directive 89/686/EEC and the Radio equipment and Telecommunications terminal equipment directive
(R&TTE) 1999/5/EC. Thereby it fulls the requirements for CE marking.

2. FITTING AND ADJUSTMENT
Over-the-head band (Fig. C)
Slide the cups out and place the headset over your ears so that the ear cushions t snugly. (1)
Adjust the height of the cups by sliding them up or down whilst holding the headband in place. (2)
The headband should be positioned across the top of the head. (3)
Helmet attachment (Fig. D)
Snap the helmet attachment into the slot on the helmet (1).
The cups can be set in two positions: Ventilation position (2) or working position (3).
When in use, the cups must be placed in working position!
Press the headband wires inwards until you hear a click on both sides and ensure that the shell or the headband wires do
not press against the lining or edge of the helmet, which could cause noise leakage.
Notice! Never place cups with humid foam on the helmet! (4)

3. USAGE/FUNCTIONS
3:1 Switching the headset on and off
Press and hold the On/Off/Mode button (B:7) for two seconds to switch the headset on or off.
3:2 Bluetooth pairing
The headset can be paired with and connected to Bluetooth units that support the proles: A2DP, HFP or HSP.
NOTE that you can only stream stereo sound/music from a unit (mobile phone, computer, etc.)
that supports the A2DP Bluetooth prole.
• Ensure that the headset is charged and switched off.
• Press and hold the On/Off/Mode button (B:7) for ve seconds.
This puts the headset into pairing mode, which is conrmed by repeated voice message: “Bluetooth pairing mode”.
• Activate your telephone’s Bluetooth function and search for new units. After a few seconds “Peltor WS5” will appear on
the screen.
• Select “Peltor WS5”.

• If the phone asks you for a password, enter: 0000
• Pairing is conrmed when you hear the voice message: “pairing complete”.
Once the Bluetooth pairing function is activated it will automatically establish connection with the headset next time it is
used with a conrmation voice message “connecting Bluetooth”, and then: “connected” when the units are connected.
You can pair and store up to 3 units. The headset will automatically try to connect to the most recently connected unit rst.
3:3 Managing phone calls
To manage phone calls, the headset must be paired with and connected to a mobile phone
with Bluetooth capability, see Bluetooth pairing.
Answering calls
Incoming phone calls are indicated with a voice message “incoming call” in the headset.
Answer by pressing briey on the Bluetooth button (B:10).
Rejecting a call
Reject a call by pressing and holding the Bluetooth button for 2 seconds (B:10).
Voice dial
Press briey on the Bluetooth button (B:10).
Redial
Press and hold the Bluetooth button for 2 seconds (B:10).
3:5 Adjusting surround-sound volume
Increase volume. Press the (upper) + button (B:8).
Decrease volume. Press the (lower) – button (B:8).
3:6 Adjusting call volume ( mobile phone)
You can adjust volume during a call by pressing the (+) or (–) buttons (B:8).
Press the On/Off/Mode button (B:7) and then (+) or (–) buttons (B:8) to adjust the surround-sound volume during a call.
3:7 Adjusting streamed-music volume
You can adjust volume while streaming music by pressing the (+) or (–) buttons (B:8). Press briey on the On/Off/Mode button
(B:7) and then (+) or (–) buttons (B:8) to adjust the surround-sound volume during music streaming.
3:8 Adjusting communication volume (Peltor WS Adapter)
You can adjust the communication volume by pressing the (+) or (–) buttons (B:8). Press the On/Off/Mode button (B:7) and
then (+) or (–) buttons (B:8) to adjust the surround-sound volume during a call.
3:9 Adjusting Remote volume (Peltor WS Ground Mechanic Adapter)
You can adjust volume to the pilot by pressing the (+) or (–) buttons (B:8).
3:10 Changing settings in the Congure menu
The headset has a Congure menu where you can adjust settings.
To access the menu, press and hold the (–) and (+) buttons (B:8) for 2 seconds (with the headset switched on).
Access to the Congure menu is conrmed by a voice saying: “menu”. To change the settings, use the (–) and (+) buttons (B:8).
To move on through the Congure menu, press briey on the On/Off/Mode button (B:7).

4. OTHER FUNCTIONS
• The last settings are stored when the headset is switched off.
• Low battery level is indicated by a voice message: “low battery”.

5. IMPORTANT USER INFORMATION
The headset must be worn, adjusted, cleaned and maintained in accordance with this manual. As with any hearing protector,
incorrect use or failure to follow the instructions supplied with this product could result in permanent disability due to exposure
to noise.
This ear-muff is provided with level-dependent attenuation.
The wearer should check correct operation before use. If distortion or failure is detected, please refer to the instructions for
replacement of the battery.
Warning! - Performance may deteriorate with battery usage.
Warning! - The output of the level-dependent circuit of this hearing protector may exceed the external sound level.
This hearing protector provides an entertainment audio facility. The the entertainment audio signal is limited to 82 dB(A)
effective to the ear for a maximum input signal level over the Bluetooth protocol.
Warning! The audibility of warning signals may be impaired while using the entertainment facility.
NOTICE! 100% use of a proper hearing protector is the only certain protection from hearing loss.
In environments with more than 82 dB A-weighted noise level, you need to protect your hearing. The hearing receptors in
your inner-ears may be irreparably damaged if you lift a cup of your hearing protectors for even a very short time in a noisy
environment.
The use of a comfortable hearing protector, designed for the specic noise level in which it is used, is the best guarantee to
that you will wear the hearing protector 100% of the time to protect yourself from permanent hearing loss.
For best protection, brush aside excess hair around your ears so the cushions t snugly on your head. The arms/bands of any
spectacles or goggles worn should be as thin as possible to allow the hearing protector to t closely to the head.
IMPORTANT! For the best protection, brush aside hair around the ears so the ear cushions t snugly against the head.
Spectacle frames should be as thin as possible and t close to the head to minimise acoustic leakage.
6. TECHNICAL DATA
6:1 Attenuation values, SNR (F)
The attenuation values and noise levels for the headset are tested and approved according to EN 352-1:2002, EN 352-3: 2002,
EN 352-4: 2001, EN 352-6 : 2002, EN 352-8 2008. Testing performed and Certicate issued by Combitech AB, Box 168,
SE-73223 Arboga, Sweden, ID#2279.

6:2 Sound exposure when using the Flex jacket (G)
The earphone level for music is measured at:
Max AUX input signal level = 1,5 V rms
AUX input signal level: 52 mV rms = 82dB
6:3 Criterion levels
A criterion level is the amount of noise (measured as A-weighted sound pressure) outside the hearing protector that gives
85 dB(A) inside. The noise level depends on the type of noise. H is high-frequency dominated noise, M is noise that is not
dominated by any given frequency, and L is low-frequency dominated noise.
On WS ProTac XP the criterion levels that are dened in EN352-4 is: L = 98dBa M = 102dBa H = 116dBa
6:4 Battery type
Many types of AA 1.2–1.5V batteries can be used (NiMH, NiCd, Alkaline), but only NiMH and NiCd batteries can be recharged.
6:5 Battery life
The expected battery life may vary depending on the brand of batteries and the temperature in which the product is used. Low
battery level is indicated by a voice saying: “low battery”. The headset functions will not work optimally if the battery is low.

The headset is designed for Bluetooth standard V.2.1 (headset and handsfree proles + A2DP) and is tested in
accordance with: EN 300 328-17 (radio test), EN 301 489-1/-17 (EMC test), EN 60 950-1 (electric safety), FCC part 15.247
(US radio test) and I.C. (Canadian radio test).
Safety information
Your wireless transceiver contains low power transmitter. When the transmitter is activated it sends out radio frequency (RF)
signals. This device is authorized to operate at a duty factor not exceed 50%.Use only the supplied antenna. Unauthorized
antennas, modications, or attachments could damage the transmitter and violate FCC regulations
7. STORAGE
Do not store the hearing protector at temperatures exceeding +55°C, for example on a dashboard or windowsill. Do not
store the hearing protector at temperatures below –55°C.
NOTE: WHEN DAMP. Turn the shells outwards. Remove the ear cushions (E) so that the attenuation cushions can dry.
Remove the batteries when storing the hearing protector for a long time. Check the functioning of the unit after replacing
the batteries. The recommended maximum shelf life is 5 years from date of manufacturing.
8. MAINTENANCE / CLEANING / DISPOSAL
After prolonged use, or other situations in which the headset attracts moisture inside the cups, remove the cushions and
inserts to allow the hearing protector to dry before its next use.
Do not store the headset in temperatures exceeding +55°C, for example on a car dashboard/hat shelf or window sill.
The headset (especially the ear cushions) can eventually wear out. Inspect regularly for signs of any physical damage and
replace if necessary. Certain chemical substances may be harmful to this product. Contact 3M for more information.
Clean/disinfect the shells, headband and ear cushions regularly with soap and warm water.
Notice! Do not immerse in water or uids.
This product is covered by the WEEE directive 2002/96/EC and is recyclable. Dispose of the product in accordance with
national regulation. Use a local recycling system for electronic products.

8:1 CLEANING
Clean/disinfect the shells, headband and ear cushions regularly with soap and warm water.

8:2 REMOVING/REPLACING EAR CUSHIONS
(E) Slide your ngers under the edge of the ear cushion and pull straight out.
Insert a new ear cushion by pressing until it snaps into place.
9. SPARE PARTS/ACCESSORIES
HY79 Hygiene kit
Easily replaceable hygiene kit consisting of two attenuation cushions, two foam rings and snap-in ear cushions. Replace at
least twice a year to ensure consistent attenuation, hygiene and comfort!
HY100A Clean – single-use protectors
A single-use protector that is easy to apply to the ear cushions. Package contains 100 pairs.
HYM1000 Mike Protector
Moisture and wind-proof with hygienic tape. Protects the speech microphone and enhances its life span.
Package of 5 meters for about 50 replacements. Contains natural latex, not recommended for use by sensitive persons.
M40/1 Wind shield for MT7-type speech microphones
Effective protection from wind noise. Enhances the life span and protects the speech microphone.
