ISFM2202
Steering Wheel Controlled
SmartPhone Integration Interface
Introduction
Thank you for choosing the iSimple ISFM2202 for use with the InSeam Pro App as your mobile media and hands-free integration
solution. The ISFM2202 is designed to provide the connecting link between your Bluetooth enabled Apple iOS or Android powered
device and your vehicle.
The InSeam Pro is more than a simple car kit, going far beyond hands-free and streaming audio by allowing the user to fully pilot
their smartphone or Tablet via Voice Recognition (VR). The InSeam Pro is fully integrated into the vehicle steering wheel control
buttons providing a seamless transition between controlling your radio and controlling your smartphone. The InSeam Pro allows
the user to open and control supported applications installed on their smartphone by simply pushing a button on the steering
wheel then saying the name of the application aloud.
Additionally when using a compatible Bluetooth mobile device it is now possible to hear the text messages on the car audio
system and see them on the radio’s RDS display feed. You can even reply by using your voice. You can even launch and control
Navigation features using voice recognition, all with verbal confirmation and audio prompts. InSeam Pro also has integrated
parental controls/safety features, which are available on android devices To avoid driver distractions parents can configure the
system disable notifications (SMS text messages) via the RDS display if the vehicle’s current speed exceeds a preset speed-limit.

Features
Voice-Recognition - Using the steering wheel control functions users can remotely launch their preferred VR application on
their mobile device. The extent of the VR capabilities available depend upon the specific application being used on the mobile
device. The VR function is also available while actively streaming music.
Streaming Music - If a paired mobile device is already playing music upon first starting your vehicle the ISFM2202 will automatically enter streaming music mode and begin transmitting the audio signal through your vehicle’s radio on the designated FM
station or through the 3.5mm audio output. Music streaming may also be initiated from the steering wheel. Using the vehicle’s
steering wheel controls operators can change tracks, pause, play, or stop the music on a paired iOS or Android mobile device. The
available features of the InSeam Pro have been tailored to your vehicles specific steering wheel controls. Your vehicles specific
button configuration can be found by downloading your device specific app from www.isimplesolutions.com/InSeamPro/app. The
smartphone apps are also available by accessing iTunes from your iPhone or Google Play from your Android device.
Hands-Free Calling - Using the vehicle’s steering wheel controls users can answer calls, end calls, switch to privacy mode,
or mute the devices microphone on a paired iOS or Android mobile device.
RDS Text Display - With a compatible mobile device actively connected the ISFM2202 module, in conjunction with the In-
Seam Pro application, allows vehicle radios equipped with RDS text readouts to display custom information such as caller ID,
SMS text messages, and music info right on the vehicle’s stereo display. By relaying this information to the vehicle’s entertainment
system via RDS users can safely see who’s calling, sending a text message or what song is playing, without distracting the driver.
(Not all devices support this feature.) This feature is not applicable when using the auxiliary output.
Caller ID - When a call is received on a connected mobile device the caller ID information is transmitted
through the vehicle’s radio system using the RDS protocol, allowing RDS equipped radios to display the number of the caller right on your vehicle’s stereo system display. (Caller ID transmission via RDS is not supported
by all devices.)
Music Info - When a connected mobile device is being used to stream music to the vehicle’s stereo details
such as song title, artist, or album are relayed to the vehicle stereo’s RDS display. Each time the track changes the RDS readout should update with the new song’s relevant information.
SMS Text Messages - When an SMS text message is received on a connected Android mobile device any
notifications generated can be relayed to the stereo display for easy reading. To ensure driver safety the
InSeam Pro application installed on a connected mobile device can be used to implement speed-limit safety
restrictions designed to disable transmission of any SMS notifications via RDS anytime the vehicle’s current
speed exceeds a pre-determined value.
*Note: Not all mobile devices are capable of forwarding SMS notifications using the FM RDS feature. Currently, this product does not
offer support for SMS text message notifications via RDS on iOS devices, however support for compatible iOS devices should be available through future firmware releases.

Operation
Activating the InSeam Pro
To activate the ISFM2202 unit’s transmitting function and engage the steering wheel control interface press and hold the button
corresponding to “Mode” on your vehicle’s steering wheel for approximately 1-2 seconds. Keep in mind that some vehicles may
not have a dedicated Mode/Source button. In these vehicles a sequence of buttons may be needed to activate the InSeam Pro
(ie. Vol+, Vol-, Vol+, Vol-). Similarly, if the unit is already active and/or functioning it can be deactivated by pressing and holding
the same button/switch (sequence) for the same extended duration of time. While active the vehicles specific steering wheel
mounted radio control buttons that are identified via the InSeam Pro App are repurposed for Bluetooth function control. Volume
Up and Down will continue to function via the factory radio even when the InSeam Pro is activated. Any additional unmapped/unused steering wheel stereo controls will cease to function until the unit is de-activated, at which time they revert to standard radio
control functions. These features have been customized to the users specific steering wheel control buttons. Please reference the
InSeam Pro App for button assignment.
Hands-Free Calling
With the ISFM2202 in active mode, the user can control the mobile device’s hands-free calling functions directly from their steering wheel controls allowing users to make, answer, end, and reject calls on their mobile device without taking their hands off the
wheel. While in a call the user will also be able to use the vehicles steering wheel controls to switch the call to and from Privacy
Mode (switching from the headset to the phone itself) and Mute the interface’s Microphone input. While muted you will still be able
to hear the incoming caller, they, however, will not be able to hear you. These features have been customized to the users specific
steering wheel control buttons. Please reference the InSeam Pro App for button assignment.
Streaming Music
With the ISFM2202 in active mode the user can start music playing on the paired device by pressing the button that corresponds
to “Play/Pause” on your vehicle’s steering wheel. If a paired mobile device is already playing music upon first starting your vehicle,
it will automatically begin transmitting through the vehicle’s radio on the designated FM station once the module connects to the
Bluetooth device. While streaming music users can also pause and change the tracks by pressing the corresponding buttons for
those functions via the steering wheel controls. These features have been customized to the users specific steering wheel control
buttons. Please reference the InSeam Pro App for button assignment.
Voice-Recognition
With the ISFM2202 in active or streaming mode users can remotely launch/close the Voice Recognition application on their mobile
device by pressing the corresponding buttons for the function via the steering wheel controls. These features have been customized to the users specific steering wheel control buttons. Please reference the InSeam Pro App for button assignment.
** All of the above mentioned functions can also be performed from the phone directly without use of the steering
wheel when operated by the passenger.**
