Safety Instructions
WARNING! To reduce the possibility of electric shock, do not
expose your phone to high humidity areas, such as the bathroom,

Always store your phone away from heat. Never store your phone
in settings that may expose it to temperatures less than 32°F or greater
than 104°F, such as outside during a snowstorm or in your car on a hot
day. Exposure to excessive cold or heat will result in malfunction,
damage and/or catastrophic failure.
Be careful when using your phone near other electronic devices.
RF emissions from your mobile phone may affect nearby inadequately
shielded electronic equipment. You should consult with manufacturers
of any personal medical devices such as pacemakers and hearing aides
to determine if they are susceptible to interference from your mobile
phone. Turn off your phone in a medical facility or at a gas station.
Never place your phone in a microwave oven as this will cause the
battery to explode.
Safety Information
Please read and observe the following information for the safe and
proper use of your phone and to prevent any unanticipated damage.

The preset phone password is 0000. Please change the password as
soon as you buy the mobile and make sure to keep the new one secret.
PIN Code
PIN (Personal Identification Number) code protects your UIM card
against unauthorized use. The PIN code is usually supplied with the
UIM card. When enabling ‘PIN Check’, you’re required to input the
PIN code each time you switch on the phone.
90
If you key in an incorrect PIN code for three times in succession, the
UIM card will be locked. To unlock the card, you have to key in the
PUK code and press OK soft key, and key in a new PIN code twice.
PIN2 code
The PIN2 code, supplied together with some cards, is required to
access some special functions, such as charge counter.
If you key in an incorrect PIN2 code for three times in succession, the
PIN2 code will be locked. To unlock the PIN2, you have to key in the
PUK2 code and press the OK soft key, and key in a new PIN2 code
twice.
PUK code
The PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) code is required to unlock a
blocked PIN code. The PUK code may be supplied with the UIM card.
If not, ask your local service provider for it.
If you key in an incorrect PUK code for ten times in succession, the

a blocked PIN2 code.

cannot use some functions that require PIN2 code. Contact your

Use of the Battery
A rechargeable Li-ion standard battery powers your phone. The
following batteries are also available (ask your local dealer for further
details):
Type
Capacity
Talk Time
Standby Time
Li-ion
650mAh
2-3hrs
60-100hrs
Charge and discharge:
In order for the new battery to reach its best performance, please fully
charge and discharge it for the first two to three times when using.
Regarding the charging duration, you are suggested to charge the
92
battery for more than 10 hours (ignore ‘Charge Full’ displayed after
charging for about 2 or 3 hours).
Precautions for using the batteries:
1. Never use any charger or battery that is damaged in any way.
2. If you use the phone near the network’s base station, it uses less
power. Talk and standby time are greatly affected by the signal
strength on the cellular network and the parameters set by the
network operator.
3. Battery charging frequency depends on the remaining battery
charge, the type of battery and charger used. The battery can be
charged and discharged hundreds of times, but it will gradually
wear out. When the operation time (talk time and standby time) is
noticeably shorter than normal, it is time to buy a new battery.
4. When left unused, a fully charged battery will discharge itself over
time.
5. Uses only approved batteries and chargers. When a charger is not in
use, disconnect it from the power source. Do not leave the battery
93
connected to a charger for more than a week, since overcharging
may shorten its life.
6. Extreme temperatures will affect the charging capacity of your
battery: it may require cooling or warming first.
Do not leave the
battery in hot or cold places, such as in a car in summer or winter,
as you will reduce the capacity and lifetime of the battery. Always
try to keep the battery at room temperature. A phone with a hot or
cold battery may temporarily not work, even when the battery is
fully charged. Li-ion batteries are particularly affected by
temperatures below 0 °C.
7. Do not short-circuit the battery. Accidental short-circuiting may
occur when a metallic object (coin, clip or pen) causes a direct
connection between the + and - terminals of the battery (metal strips
on the back of the battery), for example when you carry a spare
battery in a pocket or bag. Short-circuiting the terminals may
damage the battery or the object causing the short circuit.
8. Dispose of the used batteries in accordance with local regulations.
Always recycle. Do not dispose of batteries in a fire.
94
Care and Maintenance
Your phone is a product of high precision and super craftsmanship
and should be treated with care. The suggestions below will help you
to fulfill any warranty obligations and to enjoy this product for many
years. When using your phone, battery, charger, or any accessories,
please:
♦ Keep the phone and all its parts and accessories out of reach of small
children.
♦ Keep the phone dry. Precipitation, humidity and all types of liquids
or moisture can contain minerals that will corrode electronic
circuits.
♦ Do not use or store the phone in dusty, dirty areas. Its moving parts
can be damaged.
♦ This phone features a large LCD display screen, which is
damageable. Please be most careful to avoid dropping or knocking
it or scratching it with a sharp thing.
♦ Do not store the phone in extremely hot areas. High temperatures
95
can shorten the life of electronic devices, damage batteries, and
warp or melt certain plastics.
♦ Do not store the phone in extremely cold places. When the phone
warms up (to its normal temperature), moisture can form inside the
phone, which may damage the phone’s electronic circuit boards.
♦ Do not drop, knock or shake the phone. Rough handling can break
internal circuit boards.
♦ Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents
to clean the phone. Wipe it with a soft cloth slightly dampened in a
mild soap-and-water solution.
♦ Do not paint the phone. Paint can clog the device’s moving parts and
prevent proper operation.
♦ Use only the supplied or an approved replacement antenna.
Unauthorized antennas, modifications of attachments could damage
the phone and may violate regulations governing radio devices.
96
♦ If the phone, battery, charger, or any accessories are not working
properly, take it to your nearest qualified service center. Do not
attempt to open the phone. Non-expert handling may damage it.
