Call toll-free at 1-800-247-7285Before proceeding,make sure you have received notificationfrom your phone company that your DSL line is active.Note:If you have a Macintosh Computer,see section 6,“Setup a MacintoshComputer,”at the end of this Quick Start Guide.Step 1  Open a Web browser(Netscape Navigator or InternetExplorer,for example).In theaddress bar,enterhttp://192.168.0.1,then pressEnter on the keyboard.Step 2  The “Main Menu”screenappears.Select Setup/ Configuration.Step 3  Click Non-WindowsSetup in the left-hand columnof the “Set Up/Configuration”screen.Step 4  The “Actiontec DSL ModemSetup Page”screen appears.Follow the onscreen instructions.Have your Internet ServiceProvider(ISP) Worksheet handyand use it to fill in the text boxesin the Actiontec DSL ModemSetup Page.If you have not received your ISPWorksheet,contact your ISP. TheWorksheet is provided separatelyfrom this kit by your ISP.Step 5  Click Save and Restart at the bottom of the ActiontecDSL Modem Setup Page to save your changes.The Wireless DSL Gateway is now configured and ready foruse.For more information regarding technical support,pleasereview the Start Here Guide.If you received a Block of IP addresses from your Internet ServiceProvider,follow the instructions in Section 4 of this Guide,“Configure a Block of IP Addresses.”Otherwise,go to Section 5,“Configure a Single IP Address.”Security NoticeDon’t be a victim! Secure your DSL service from unwantedintrusions.Please refer to the Security section of your UserManual for more information regarding network security.2Install the Phone FiltersStep 1 Unplug your Telephones(or other devices) from theircurrent Phone Jacks.Step 2 Open the Clear Bagand remove the Phone Filtersfrom the bag.What are Phone Filters? Phone Filters separate the DSL signalfrom the voice signal,allowing you to talk on the telephoneand be online at the same time.All Devices with the same phone number as your DSLLinerequire Phone Filters.This includes telephones,fax machines,caller ID boxes,and answering machines.Caution: Do Not unplug the Green Cable from the Phone Jack near your Computer.Note:The number and type of Phone Filters included in this kit may vary.Step 3 Plug a Phone Filterinto every Phone Jack in yourhouse with the same phonenumber as your DSL Line,anda telephone (or other device)connected to it.If you need additional PhoneFilters,contact your DSLService Provider.Note:If you have a wall-mount telephone,you must install the Wall-Mount PhoneFilter.For all other telephones or other devices,use the small Phone Filters.Toinstall a Wall-Mount Phone Filter,see “Installing a Wall-Mount Phone Filter,”below.Step 4 Plug one end of the PhoneCord into the Phone Filter andkeep the other end attached tothe telephone (or other device).Caution:Do Not connect a Phone Filter into the Phone Jack near your Computer(the Phone Jack into which your Green Cable is plugged).To Install a Telephone next to your Computer:Step 1 Find the Phone Cordconnected to the Telephone next toyour Computer.Unplug this PhoneCord from the Phone Jack it iscurrently plugged into (you mayhave already unplugged the cableduring the modem installationprocess).Keep the other end connected to the Telephone.PhoneJackPhoneCordNote: Do Not unplug the Green cable from the Phone Jack near your computer.Step 2 Plug the Phone Cordinto the Port marked “Phone” onthe back of the Gateway.Do Notplug the Phone Cord into theback of your Computer.Make sure you have connectedyour Phone to the Gatewayexactly as shown in the picture tothe right.PowerOutletPowerCordNote:The phone port on the Gateway includes a built-in microfilter.As a result,no additional filter is needed.PhonePortDSL Cable1) Remove the wall-mount telephone from the wall jack.2) Open the top and bottom toggles until they snap into the open position.3) Push the Wall-Mount Phone Filter into the wall jack,fully inserting the plug on the back of the filter into the wall jack opening.4) Push the toggles back into the closed position until they lock on the studs of the wall jack.5) Reattach the telephone to the Wall-Mount Phone Filter.Installing a Wall-Mount Phone Filter3Configure the GatewayFlip this Quick Start Guide over to continue If you are installing DSL serviceand have a monitored homesecurity alarm,Do Not continuewith this installation process.Werecommend calling your DSLService Provider for a technicianinstallation,or contacting yoursecurity system provider forfurther details.Please refer tothe Security section of the UserManual for more information. Call toll-free at 1-800-247-7285Before connecting a Wireless Wireless DSL Gateway to aMacintosh computer, the computer must be set up for network-ing.Use the following procedure.Step 1  Click the Apple in theupper right corner of the menubar to reveal the Apple Menu.Step 2  From the Apple Menu,click Control Panels.Step 3  From the ControlPanels menu,click TCP/IP.Step 4  When the TCP/IPwindow appears,select Editfrom menu bar,then selectUser Mode.Step 5  When the User Modewindow appears,selectAdvanced,then click OK.Step 6  In the TCP/IP window,select Ethernet from theConnect via pop-up menu.Step 7  Select Using DHCPServer from the Configurepop-up menu.Step 8  Ensure the Use 802.3option is Not checked.Step 9  Click Options,and whenthe TCP/IP Options windowappears,select Active.Makesure the Load only whenneeded option is Not checked,then click OK.Step 10  Close the TCP/IPwindow and when promptedto save changes,click Save.Step 11  Restart the Computer.The Computer is now set upfor networking.Note:The procedure below is for the Macintosh operating systems version 9.2.2and below.For computers running Macintosh OS X,see the User Manual.Note: MSN Users with MAC OS-X and Later: In order to complete your MSNinstallation and activate your MSN Account,insert the disk labeled “WindowsUsers:Put this CD in FIRST”.•Access your CD-ROM drive.•Open the MSN for MAC folder.•Double click on the “MSN for MAC OS X.dmg”file.•Follow the instructions provided in the installation software.Congratulations!
